Honestly fuck AI for making me have to go on and on defending the dignity of toil like I’m some kind of protestant
My version of flirting is looking at someone I find attractive multiple times and hoping they're braver than me.

the thing is that childhood doesn't just end when you turn 18 or when you turn 21. it's going to end dozens of times over. your childhood pet will die. actors you loved in movies you watched as a kid will die. your grandparents will die, and then your parents will die. it's going to end dozens and dozens of times and all you can do is let it. all you can do is stand in the middle of the grocery store and stare at freezers full of microwave pizza because you've suddenly been seized by the memory of what it felt like to have a pizza party on the last day of school before summer break. which is another ending in and of itself
Hey.
This is one of the reasons why you should be kind to older people.
This happens more and more, harder and harder, and dealing with it that often is pretty rough.
Let them tell their stories.
Adso of Melk you will always be famous. Monk writing his murder mystery memoirs but he takes a quick aside to say "anyway, who hasn't had gay thoughts"
We all agree she deserves the Knives Out treatment where she get's dozens of seasons with each season covering a new case right!?
I try not to be a 'read X if you want to Y' kind of guy, but the more I read of his work the more I feel like anyone who struggles with writing compelling, flawed characters needs to read Umberto Eco.
To be fair, his characters are often actual historical people with at least some record of their existence on file to reference. That being said, the way he writes these characters, often from the first person perspective, feels natural and genuine. I have to remind myself while reading The Name of the Rose that these aren't the actual written words of Adso of Melk, but the reconstruction by Eco from memory of a manuscript (that may or may not have ever existed) for the sake of a rollicking murder mystery involving some Very Troubled Monks.
Eco draws from historical context and then gives those characters voices in ways that never feel condescending. It feels almost conversational, you learn about the person as they open up everything about themselves (that they're willing to share, in the way they wish to share it) onto the page and into the story. The more I come to know Adso, the more I want to shove his head in a toilet. But also give him a mug of tea and a warm blanket. But also kick him down the stairs. But also. Adso. You dumb ass. (He's a Benedictine monk writing in the 1300s Of COURSE I want to slap him 50 times and send him to the kitchen to eat a carrot snack and think about what he's done. To say the least.)
Ultimately it's hard to describe exactly why Eco especially is so good at writing these people without getting into the fact that the guy was a semiotician and social-political commentator when he wasn't teaching and researching all kinds of stuff, which is the other set of ingredients for writing really great characters. But his novels are a good start!

Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy being like, "I am 100% committed to respecting your 'no', but I heard you wouldn't promise my aunt not to marry me so I had to come and check just one (1) more time."

Urgent help
I am Ola Ferwana from Palestine ,Gaza. I'm a mother of 3 kids Yamen, Qusai and Mira. My husband travelled to Egypt to get medicines before 2 days of the war 7 of October on Gaza and he was stuck in Egypt until this moment.
I faced very great challenges and responsibilities of my three children in the absence of my husband, as he had traveled and the crossing was closed and we could not see each other. The amount of suffering I was feeling cannot be described as still being in the north of Gaza.I am reaching out to you today with a heavy heart and a plea for urgent assistance. I have left my home and have been displaced more than 8 times with my children. I am living in the war_torn region of Gaza, facing unimaginable challenges, with lack of water, food scarcity, and constant threats to their safety.
This is our street of my house, the Israeli occupation damaged all the houses.
I have delivered a girl baby,Mira , through the war, She was 10 months old and my husband didn't see her until this moment.
Yaman was 7 years old, and his simplest dream was to complete the first grade at school, but his school was completely destroyed. He lost the most beautiful thing that he was happy with and enjoyed that he had reached this stage.
Qusai is 5 years old, and until this moment I do not have the courage to tell him that his kindergarten was also destroyed, the first place and refuge in which he was happy, but in this war he lost everything beautiful. He lost his father’s hug, which was his only refuge when he slept at night, telling him his daily story to fall asleep safety.
Mira, my daughter, who had never seen an hour or a moment devoid of fear, came into this world and was surprised by a war that destroyed many, many things. It destroyed her house and her room, which I was waiting for as I prepared and brought her all the beautiful clothes and colorful dresses she needed. She was surprised by the sound of missiles. She could not sleep because of it. My husband hopes to get a smile and a hug from her daughter Which he had been waiting for some time.
We lack of the basic human needs, no food no electricity no water. We were poisoned and infected because of the unhealthy water that we drink.
My three children and I had to be hospitalized. We suffered from liver dysfunction as a result of malnutrition, widespread diseases, and recurring infection.
During this period, I felt remorseful about how difficult it is for a mother to see her children sick and unable to treat them because she is also very sick.
The Rafah border crossing, which is the only way to escape from the war, is closed now.
I hope to provide us by giving support in order to cover the costs associated with ensuring our safe passage of Egypt through the borders. Please stand with me, we are now homeless, with absence of children needs like milk, diapers, with no food. Please help us by donation to stay a live and leave Gaza with my children. If it is opened, I can't go to Egypt as I don't have the money because my husband is the sole breadwinner for my family.
Thank you for your kindness, empathy and generosity during this challenging time. With sincere thanks and warm regards,

Unfortunately, the campaign is not going well. My wife and children are trapped in northern Gaza and the situation is very bad

It’s actually disgusting me that people are choosing to forget about Palestine not even a full year into this ongoing genocide. Nothing is better. Nothing has slowed down. It’s just underreported. It’s just that western media outlets aren’t pretending to care. The iof is still targeting aid distribution centers, it’s still killing hundreds of Palestinians a day, it’s still preventing medical aid from entering North Gaza. So many diseases are robbing families of their loved ones. It is worse than it has ever been. Less people are talking about it now because they no longer want to be bothered to care
