maybe it should’ve been surprising to hear how negatively he speaks, but jill finds herself not as shocked. perhaps it’s the comparison to ingram once again rising — though it isn’t as if those negative associations are rare emotions or anything. she often feels that way: that feeling of listlessness, adrift without any attachments. it only grows stronger here after the separation of her &. her loved ones. hell, it even takes away her cat. that’s depressing.
but instead of mentioning that, she half-quirks a smile. it’s almost wistfulness that briefly clouds her vision; she shakes them away before he could notice. ❛ you have your life, your youth. i bet you could go places; you seem like a smart kid. ❜ well, smartass, technically. but the intent is still there &. genuine. ❛ find something new to cherish, if you wanted. there’s a whole new world waiting. ❜ which is actually a pretty depressing thought, given jill is quite complacent with her previous one. ( damn, all this depressive talk makes her want to smoke. )
❛ i like to think of it as a house special here. comes free with the drink, whether you actually want it or not. ❜ mix drinks &. save lives. that’s her motto. sometimes, people just want someone who listens. jill might not know them well, but she can do at least that while serving them drinks. speaking of, her smile grows a tad bigger upon the mention of something real. ❛ it was real — it’s not like i served you a ghost drink, right ? ❜
she laughs immaturely, but she manages to whip something up. ❛ try this. ❜
[ bleeding jane: say the name of this drink three times in front of a mirror &. you’ll look like a fool. flavor: spicy. type: classic, sobering. no alcohol. ]
“I’m real fuckin’ smart, lady.”
『 His lip twitched a bit into a smirk, and he set his chin into his hands again. Whole world waiting, cherishing shit, this was a fucking drag. Bartenders in like, dramas and stuff always seemed to be talkative and nosey, but he didn’t really realise they were like that in real life, too. He just wanted to get a little tipsy and probably just saunter home and fall asleep.
『 Two shitty jokes in a row, but he humored her with a snort through his nose, and the grin on his face stretched just a bit. The second one almost brought a response out of him, but instead he zoned out listening to the sound of the drink being mixed. He hoped to God she wasn’t pulling his fucking leg this time. He was a paying customer, damnit, and he was… Maybe legal. He should get what he wanted!
『 He picked up the drink, a little intrigued by the colour, and took a hefty swig; not quite downing as much as he had with the last mistake of a drink. His mouth tingled slightly, and he looked at the glass. It was better, but he was pretty damn sure it wasn’t alcoholic. He groaned a little and pouted, taking another sip anyway. He couldn’t resist anything spicy.
“It’s fuckin’ good, I guess. Not what I asked for though, miss.”
『 The slightest, brattiest little inclination on the word miss. Just to make sure she still knew he wasn’t being respectful in the slightest.
