Hi! I haven't been active in online bandom for a few years now (but the love is still there!). I wonder if anyone would be interested if I kept this blog running?
I'm not updated on the good bandom fics being posted, so I'd need to rely on recs or submissions. It would be less my recommendations and more a place for people to send their fav fics for me to share.
Hi, I've been hunting for one fic in particular for nearly 10 years now. It was a Gerard/Frank of MCR AU where the world ends dut to a horrible plague/flu (this was like around 2010 maybe...long before COVID. Very long fic centered aroundn only those two and I recall it being paired with a playlist featuring Matchbook Romance. If anyone has any ideas...please!

My Comments: this one is GREAT!!!!! its very long and a super slow burn, so dont read it for the ships, but read it for the wonderful worldbuilding and great plot. and of course, the friendship, especially between frank and mikey.

I also like how its set over three very important days of pete;s life. Its mainly petekey, with a long smutty part at the end, but theres allusions to past Pete/Patrick and Gabe/Pete and Gabe is a major character

My Comments: this fic is so good! You expect one thing going in and then it completely changes. This one is another really cool time travel one like “abridged for your convenience”, except frank-centric. I loved slowly learning the true timeline as the story goes on.

Mikey was spending more and more time with the business end of WBBE, fighting off the constant maneuverings of their rival Clandestine Industries and that left Gerard mostly unsupervised.
Which was not good. Not good at all, because Gerard could (and did) get into a lot of trouble on his own.
My Comments: This one is really creative! It is mainly a frerard, with a side of petekey and mikey/alicia. I got an enjoyable BBC sherlock type dynamic between frank and gee, and mikey as their lestrade. and 221b is a giant lab with way too many pets. Gabe sapporta also makes an appearance, although i forget if hes evil or not... i wont spoil it. im tagging it as crime/superhero because they are mad scientists

The plot is so intricate and thought out! It’s mikey-centric, and I love how he plays so many different roles over the course of the timeline. reading this was such a joy. i cant stress enough how good this is. you get killjoys, the girl, umbrella academy’s sibling dynamics and feels, and a great plot and storyline. It is comoplete without the epilogue, but i hope its uploaded soon. there are no major ships, a side of frerard and the same incest warning there would be for allison and luther.

Hello! I really love statistics, so I made some about MCR Fanfiction on Ao3
We make up 0.3% of all of the Fanfiction on Ao3. That’s 16,024 fics!
The majority of fics are tagged as Frank/Gerard. The least are Frank/Ray. The amount of Frank/Gerard is over 80x the amount of Frank/Ray! (Please mote that some fics are tagged with multiple ships)
The fics per year is my favorite statistic. I want to say first that my calculations may be anywhere from 4 to 40 fics off in either direction, as I had to calculate it by hand. The amount of fics climbed in the 2010-2013 era, when I suppose people started to move from other fic sites. The growth after reflects what we know about the growth of the fandom. The peak is in 2016, with 2,219 fics being published. There is less being published now. I don’t know what caused that, some theories are the fandom evolving or more people having problems with rpf. The number for 2020 is 545. That is for only 2 and a half months, however. That’s 218 fics per month. If fics were to continue at that pace, we would have 2,616 fics this year total! That’s more than in 2016. That can probably be credited to MCR’s return and how much the fandom grew since Halloween 2019.
There are 3008 incomplete My Chem fics on Ao3. This stat is one of the less interesting ones, and I have nothing more to say about it.
2 of the top 3 fics are from the Unholyverse series. The Unholyverse almost has a fandom within a fandom, so I am not surprised. What I am suprised about is the difference in hits between the first and second fics in the series.
The longest MCR fic is 351,832 words long. For comparison, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is 198,227 words long! I would like to note here that I only included the books that I have read in this statistic, since some of the long ones had some inappropriate content. ((Mama) contains lots of mature content and triggers so if you intend to read it be cautious)
And that’s the stats! I’m not sure if Ao3 does this already, but oh well. I plan to do some more about the Danger Days fandom and maybe going deeper into some of these, so stay tuned!

Happy New Year! At the end of 2020, 2318 new MCR fics have been uploaded to Ao3. That means we have surpassed our previous record of 2123 in 2016! Here is the fics per month graph for 2020, and an updated fics per year graph :)
things I wish I’d known when I started writing fic on ao3
use & for friendships, colleagues, familial relationships and use / for romantic or sexual relationships (or encounters)
not everyone reads fic. Lots of people use screen readers, and screen readers can’t see what’s on images. use descriptive text to help them out.
lots of people download fic to read on other devices, not all downloads capture images too.
there’s a big difference between No Archive Warnings Apply (NAWA) and Author Chose Not to Use Archive Warnings (CNTW). NAWA means that there’s nothing in the fic that needs to be warned for using the official Archive Warning system. CNTW means there might be something that requires a warning and the author is either avoiding giving out spoilers or they are unsure how to interpret their plot point with respect to the official Warnings. (in both cases, additional tags are where it’s at - you can explain yourself there)
the reason why the number of bookmarks in the fic is different from the number of bookmarks on your stats page is because your stats page number includes bookmarks that are hidden
there’s a preference setting where you can receive emails with your own comments/replies.
there’s a site skin that hides stats so you don’t have to see them
writing in rich text format makes my life easier
knowing html allows me to do fun things in the comments section like comment/reply with reaction gifs
knowing html also allows me to do interesting formatting in my fics that I can’t do with rich text alone
those little blue bubbles with the question marks in them will answer my questions a lot of the time - and also teach me something new
the FAQ is linked under the word About in the header
if you write your fic in the draft window, you might end up losing it so make sure you copy the text before you hit Post, just in case
they aren’t kidding when they say drafts are deleted after 30 days

The Anonymous collection will allow you to post anything you want and retain ownership over it.
Your identifying information will not be anywhere within the fic to any other reader. Though you will see it from your end when looking at it as a logged in user.
When you reply to a comment, it will anonymize you, so feel free to respond to your commenters!
You can take your fic off Anonymous at any time
When you are signed into AO3, you can easily access your Anonymous fics by looking at the “Works In Collections” tab on your page. Nobody else will see these Anonymous works on this page.
Works can be added to the Anonymous collection at any time
Just because a fic is Anonymous does not mean it is Abandoned or Orphaned.
Speaking of Orphaned fics:
If you have posted a story and for whatever reason you no longer want it on your account or associated with you, you can Orphan the fic.
Orphaning fics will remove all of your control and ownership of the story.
Orphaning fics is not a reversible process. Once a fic has been Orphaned it cannot be taken back. You cannot delete it. You can’t check stats and it does not show up on your Works page anymore.
Orphaning and the Anonymous collection are great options for when you no longer want a fic associated with you, but you don’t want to delete it either.

My Comments: A really cool Superhero School AU. I loved seeing the progress of Frank and Gerard's relationship, and Frank's friendship with Mikey and Ray are also very fleshed out and detailed. This is the good shit. Also long, which is wonderful. The main ship is very slow burn, as it follows them from age 11 to adults. There's some Petekey as well but mostly background.
