Chapter 3: Stuck
They say that your life flashes before your eyes when you’re about to die. And considering that your life was now in the hands of Jeon Jungkook, that seemed highly probable.
The fear in the pit of your stomach was getting harder to ignore as his grip remained on your wrist. You didn’t want to give in to that feeling, so you tried to force yourself off. It was useless. Jungkook not only grabbed on tighter but also stopped the elevator.
“What are you doing!” you yelled as panic struck your entire body. You hated being in confined spaces more than anything.
Jungkook completely ignored your question and instead snatched your bag aggressively. Unable to move, you did the only thing you could. “Help! Can anyone hear me?! Hel-” you screamed, banging on the elevator door.
Suddenly, his hands were over your mouth and he pushed you against the wall. His body remained on top of yours.
“Give me my stuff and I’ll let you go,” he demanded as he pushed his entire weight forward.
You tried to speak, but instead, a mumbled and incoherent sentence came out.
His grip loosened, as he uncovered your mouth reluctantly. You felt that this was the perfect opportunity to push him away.
“I don’t have your stuff!!” you screamed as you pushed him to the other side of the elevator.
There was an eerie expression on his face now. “Don’t play dumb. I know it was you,” he bellowed moving closer. You looked around frantically trying to distance yourself, but there was nowhere else to go.
You let out a scream in frustration and turned to him. “I. Don't. Have. Anything,” you uttered, stressing each word.
Well, I know you have it-” he stated.
For a split second your expression matched your confusion. “Your tattoo” he added, pointing to your wrist. Your eyes matched his gaze and you instantly froze.
“You know nothing,” you claimed coldly. A few moments of silence followed your statement.
Then before you could even blink, he stormed over and gripped your neck. As each second passed by, his hold got tighter and tighter, to the point where the pressure felt like a truck had rammed against your throat. You hit his arm repeatedly as you barely managed to croak out, “Okay....Okay.”
When he heard those words come out of your mouth, Jungkook let go. The fact that his demeanor changed instantaneously scared you the most. You collapsed to the ground holding your neck in agony, completely bewildered that he would almost kill you over a watch and wallet.
So you were saying,” he spoke squatting down to your level and looking completely unfazed.
“I...I..” you stuttered unsure of what to say. You were worried that if you said his stuff was gone, Jungkook would hurt you even more. You needed to buy some time.
“They’re at my house,” you blurted quickly. As those words came out of your mouth, there was an evident feeling of distrust on his face. He didn’t say anything for what felt like an eternity.
Then, all of a sudden he got up and clicked the elevator button again. It started moving. “Lead the way,” Jungkook stated, positioning himself towards the back. His presence made your stomach turn and a knot form in your throat.
When the elevator to the lobby opened, there were two female employees waiting in the front. Their eyes widened in shock. At first, you were filled with excitement hoping that they sensed something was wrong. However, that expectation fell short when you saw them greet him.
You were partly confused but also terrified that Jungkook was someone powerful. In a panic, you moved across the lobby quickly. As you got closer to the front, you heard his footsteps get louder behind you.
“Don’t do anything smart,” he warned as he got close enough to grab your arm. You looked back slightly and shook his hand off.
Before you even had a chance to respond, you heard someone calling out your name. When you turned around, you saw it was Namjoon. He was running towards you with a piece of paper in his hand. Your eyes widened in disbelief.
“I forgot to give you the contract,” he explained with a small smile that revealed two prominent dimples. A rush of emotions swept across your body as you saw him standing in front of you. This was your one chance.
“Oh...Jungkook you know Y/N?” Namjoon interjected noticing Jungkook standing next to you.
Your eyes turned bloodshot. As did Jungkook’s. “You two know each other?” you questioned trying to piece together what was going on.
Namjoon nodded his head, while Jungkook remained stoic as he looked straight ahead. “He’s the bodyguard for the president of the hotel,” Namjoon explained noticing Jungkook wasn’t saying anything.
You nearly collapsed. “W-hat?..Him?...” you stuttered.
Namjoon eyed you weirdly. “Yes...how do you two know each other?” he asked.
“We don’t!” you blurted too quickly, which led to a confused expression from him.
“Okay...well anyways, look over the contract and bring it to me during orientation,” he noted.
Your eyes widened. “No!...I mean...it’s okay, I’ll just sign the contract now,” you explained hoping this would be a way you could escape Jungkook. Namjoon looked surprised when you said that but agreed regardless.
Namjoon started making his way to where the table and couches were when Jungkook suddenly pulled your arm. This was beginning to become a constant thing with him.
“Don’t force me to make a scene right now,” you warned. He looked you in the eyes and said nothing.
You turned on your heels and walked over to Namjoon. As you stood by the edge of the couch, you looked back to see if Jungkook was behind you. He wasn’t. He was now waiting outside.
“Listen... I don’t have a lot of time, so I need you to do something for me,” you frantically pleaded, pretending to look through the contract.
“Huh?...”Namjoon questioned perplexed.
“I need those items back. The watch and wallet,” you explained.
“What? You need them back now?” he asked.
“Yes,” you stated abruptly.
“Why?”
“What do you mean why? I just need them back,” you responded slightly annoyed.
“I can’t just give them back to you, that’s not how it works,” Namjoon concurred, clearly not realizing the extremity of the situation.
You rolled your hands into a fist and crumpled the paper slightly. “I know. But this is important to me. I wouldn’t be standing in front of you like an idiot...risking my job...if it wasn’t,” you ranted raising your voice.
“Y/N...” he spoke softly, making you almost feel guilty just by the way he said your name.
You looked back to see if Jungkook was still outside. He was, but now he was also staring at you. You quickly turned around and signed the contract.
“Forget it,” you sighed as you gave it to him.
He looked at the paper in his hands for a few seconds and then back at you. “I’m sorry. I would, but I just can’t,” he apologized looking down at the floor.
“Whatever,” you whispered under your breath.
You walked out of the hotel and stood by the entrance. For some reason, you were unable to move any further.
“Let’s go,” Jungkook ordered. But you physically couldn’t.
Then, when he spoke a second time, it hit you. You realized that whatever it was that Jungkook needed, he was desperate enough to choke you to get it. But, he choked you to scare you, not hurt you. You’re the only one that has what he wants.
With this realization, you let out a coy smile and turned slowly towards him.
