Singh and Monty turn to the others and see Roland carrying Edgar calmly, meanwhile Kevin was hyperventilating.

“Yes, I’ve got him! You don’t need to worry.” Kevin wanted to scream, why was everyone focused on him when their best friend was- was… dying. His mouth was numb with panic.

Monty stepped over to calm Kevin. His friend needed help.

Look! Look! Help him please, why aren’t you helping him?! Save him. I’m trying to tell you something. All he could get out was a few raspy breaths.

Singh dashed to the two boys under his barrier. “Roland, take Edgar and run. The spell I have placed will guide and protect you until you are out of the plagueround. Get aid immediately.”

Fear flashed in Roland’s eyes before he took off without a word. (Fear seemed to be a popular word as of late.)

Roland couldn’t help but realize in that moment that Edgar was too young for this… they all were.

Is Edgar going to be okay? No, he will be. He has to. He has to be okay. We can't lose him. I can't lose him.

He tries to watch Roland take Edgar out of the forest, but his vision was too blurry.

My first real friends. And one of them almost dies twice, and I can't save him. I can't do anything. What if he doesn't get better? what if, what if, what if.

Monty is taken off guard by Kevin, but supports him, attempting to shield him with his arms

"Kevin- Kevin? Are you okay, friend?"

((rolled a 14)) Kevin tries to steady his breathing with his face buried in Monty's shoulder. He feels his eyes brimming with tears, the familiar feeling returning.

He hears Monty's voice, but he doesn't catch what he's saying, so he moves himself away. "Sorry," he whispers.

He wraps his arms around himself, something he often did at home, and watches Roland and Edgar disappear into the trees.

I love Kevin. He is so realistic and relatable. I really hope he has a "moment" if that makes sense. Edgar had Poe, Monty and the control stuff, Roland had a moment with the voice in his head. Kevin, he's just kinda there. He is generally the weakest in fights. Everyone jokes about him being useless?!?!?!

HIS PARENTS??? They called him a freak. They didn't even give him a hug when he cried. They went on a big vacation without him.

I headcanon he checks on his friends and comforts them because he never got that himself. He fears Nuclear War. Hes 10??? Wtf???

Tldr, Kevin should/could/ has every right to ABSOLUTELY LOSE IT.

I wholeheartedly believe that this is Kevin Creely's first set of actual friends

I feel like he was the type of kid who kind of got along with everyone and was always in the middle of large groups of friends but never actually close with any of them. Invited to birthdays but never the sleepovers and always had a group of friends to walk with but the first to be pushed to the back of the sidewalk when it got narrow

But now he has three close and real and genuine best friends :)

Three rats! A brown one named Titch and two grey ones named Annabelle and Belladonna. Mum says that Titch was just a baby when I named her, but she's still really small.
