About me.

I'm a 23 year old Irish Celtic pagan from México. I'm also an art student, art teacher, fitness instructor and teacher and aspiring writer and poet.

I have a love for folklore, arts, music and literature. I'm a fan of horror, 19th century story, folk rock among other things.

I'm a polytheist who mainly follows the Celtic Irish pantheon. I've been in this practice for around 4 years at the moment I write this post. I'm a reconstructionist and revivalist, and I believe sspiritual practices and teachings from all religions are valuable and useful.

I've done my best to build a relationship with all of the gods of the pantheon I follow, but I've found my closest relationships with Brig and Cernunnos, as well as currently learning and approaching Ogma and Lugh.

I'm interested and trying to follow the path and practices of a modern day bard, as well as still learning and discovering both my faith and self everyday.

I'll mostly post reflections on my thoughts about things I learn about the gods and the myths, as well as prayers and art I dedicate to the gods. I hope you find my blog a nice place to stay.

Lately I've been trying to use "god/goddess of x" during my prayers as a way to connect better with the gods.

The gods are so vast and immense that I feel like only using their associations to describe them limits our own perspective.

Like, yeah, it's a pretty easy and simple way to start thinking about Brig as the goddess of fire or Lugh as the god of the trades or The Morrigan as the goddess of war or Cernunnos as the god of the wildlife... But as you get closer to the gods and learn to relate to them, I feel like that starts feeling small.

Did you know all three, Brig, The Morrigan and Lugh are gods of sovereignty? Or that the three of them are related to warriors in wildly different ways?

Did you know that who we call The Morrigan is one of many bearing the title? Or that she's not only goddess of war, but she's known as the instigator? That she's related to violence and blood spilling? That she influences the violence inside people's hearts to fight? That she has influence over both fear and bravery?

Did you know that Cernunnos is lord of all animals who fend without humans or that he guards the souls of the animals who pass? That he guides people off his woods so both animal and man are in their right place?

Did you know that Brig is also a master smith and brewer? That she's a healer and guardian of pregnant women who guards over births? That she is a master poet? That her flame lights up warmth and guiding lights and homely fire and inspiration and hope? That she's lady of the homeless and trials?

Did you know that Lugh is master of all skills and trades? That he's a king? A trickster? That he has dominion over magic and weapons and music and social skills? Over warriors and hunters and anything that requires skill? That he's not a sun god but is still related to the sun? That he rules over progress and favors hard work even though he's also considered a god of luck and we could take him as a beacon of civilization and community? That he's a protector of family and honor? That he created a whole festivity to remember his adoptive mother?

The gods are so multifaceted and complex... I understand and agree that the basic "god of" and "goddess of" is perfect to start and I encourage all beginners to understand it, but I also think we must, at some point, learn to want to go past that so we can truly connect and further our understanding of the gods and what role they play both in the world and our lives.

Some updates. I'm starting to properly integrate Lugh into my practice. Along with Brig, I think he's the one god of the pantheon I feel the most connected with, so I'm happy to start being more active with him.

So, as you can see, I made an altar for him and move The Morrigan's

Finally upgraded all my altars with new portraits of the gods. Really love how much life it adds to the altars and the remodeling for Brig's is pretty much done as well

Something I think some people misunderstand is that the gods aren't *from* cultures. They are *articulated* by cultures. The gods are 1000s of years old. They have existed before human culture and will exist after them. They have also appeared under different names and guises throughout multiple cultures, in ways humans will never be able to connect.

That doesn't mean you should disrespect those cultures in the very infrequent situation there is a closed practice. But it does mean the gods are not viewing current political events through the prism of what culture is theirs because culture does not belong to them, it belongs to humanity.

I love the gods. I love the gods so much. I love how they can interact with us in different ways. I love how different they are. I love how we can have shared experiences with deities. Or experiences that are different but still are them. I am so happy I began worshipping these deities.

I feel like I've made my position clear on where I stand in the past, but just to revisit in light of recent events:

ICE is evil. They're an extension of this administration's authoritarianism, and that's reason enough to hate them.

Also. Pagan religions are dependent on concepts of hospitality, generosity, and interdependence. ICE spits in the face of this completely. So my fellow pagans should also hate them for these reasons.

No one who supports ICE should follow me. Fuck ICE. Fuck Trump.

I think pagans are very strong people. The lack of pagan representation, lack of temples, communities and overall acceptance of our religion hurts deeply. There is a reason why many people, including me, take big breaks from paganism. It is indeed very hard to stay consistent. The amount of doubts all of us are having when doing a certain practices is unimaginable, but we try, sometimes fail and try again. What I wanted to say is that no matter if you step away or feel like you are failing what you are doing is important . It keeps our religions alive and going. No matter how oppressed we are, we will not yield and we will continue to believe.
