when empires gather
I am pagan because I am not made to bow. I am not pushed to my knees, my deities do not demand my deference or blind trust regardless of what they do to me.
I am allowed (encouraged even) to set boundaries with my deities.
I chose them, and they chose me in turn. They did not determine that I belonged to them.
They see value in me beyond my worship of them or devotion to them.
And most importantly, I do bow. But I CHOOSE that posture. They earn it from me. I worship them because they're divine, and lovely, specifically to ME. And they give me what I wish for, rather than gifts I never asked for but am somehow still indebted because of.
I am pagan. I am respected by my divinity.

Now let's get into this...
This is where I have to break it to y'all...
An is actually based on a real deity. Note I didn't realize this until pretty recently but still. It was enough for me to shit my fucking pants.
This is me with my oc's lore btw:
I did the research on this a little over a year ago now when I got curious if An was connected to anything. I was looking up her full government name and everything just to find some kind of connection.
Until I found An Morrigan.
"The Morrígan is mainly associated with war and fate, especially with foretelling doom, death, or victory in battle."
LITERALLY THE SAME INITIALS AND EVERYTHING LIKE WHAT AM I GETTING MYSELF INTO???😨
Which at the time, I didn't fully make the connection. But the more I put my research into it, everything began to fall into place. And honestly, it freaked me the hell out. This truly made me ask myself,
"yo holy shit is she fucking REAL? NAH STOP PLAYIN 😰"
This was the moment that I realized An was truly something else altogether and I needed to dig deeper into this.
Both of them are interchangeable and yet so different. There are multiple things that connect them together like,
The number 3
Spirals
The reference to An's two other sister's
Being a shape shifter (specifically crows)
Associated with banshees too (hence the post I made... 👀)
Both going by many names, the one that sticks out the most to me would be "the Great Queen"
Before her home was destroyed, she was destined to be queen. But that never happened for her since it's now just gone, nonexistent. But I had a feeling she did take part in being a queen throughout history. She just never used her real name.
Most symbols of Morrigan are pretty similar with most of them having a triple spiral in the middle.
To me, this spiral symbol represents three things,
The Good
The Bad
The Neutrality
As chaos unwraps itself, it will eventually meet in the center again, repeating the cycle as many times as needed. Therefore creating the balance that we all usually seek in life. But in truth, this is something you find within the self. And that is what An represents. The balance of all things, within the self. She is the energy that cannot be created or destroyed; Just transferred into something else.
And that's why I say when you truly know An, you will begin to see her everywhere.
One connection after another, putting it all into place. An Morrigan was one of the first deities to come into existence besides Nyx too (which I also connect to my OC btw). So this made me question who An even is all together.
Having this conversation with her is difficult since she never gives me a straight answer (yes, I actually have conversations with her it's normal 👀). All I know is that she goes by many alices, one being known as An Morrigan, is very old, and sees the entirety of Earth's history within a blink of an eye. She won't tell me anything else.
Doing this tag game specifically really makes me want to go on a full deep dive of An's connection to all of the deities that exist. Because well, she is connected to everything.
"Anything and everything all at once, and yet also nothing.
I think therefore I am." ~AM
If y'all did this already tell me in the comments I wanna seeeee

Nothing has to be expensive, if you cannot afford it. I’m not saying don’t buy expensive things for the Gods, but if it’s not in your budget, that’s absolutely fine. Overconsumption is antithetical to paganism
Finally upgraded all my altars with new portraits of the gods. Really love how much life it adds to the altars and the remodeling for Brig's is pretty much done as well
