I finished re reading trc and now I have to like. Do things with me life
I liked call down the hawk for lots of reasons. One, I haven’t read so indulgently for a very very long time. I read Wayward Son of course, but It just wasn’t the same as this- I finished it in a day or two and also it felt like it was just really good fanfiction. That isn’t a bad thing, of course, but call down the hawk is just something different. While the visionary plot line was mostly boring for the extent, I think it crafted into a perfect set up for the rest of the trilogy. Also, I love when stories craft the bad guy as a person who thinks they’re doing good, I live for morally grey areas. I also liked that this story was also about Declan as much as Ronan. You’re meant to hate Declan from everything trc tells you, and call down the hawk shows you that he’s really less flawed than Ronan (who is literally king of flaws, so that’s not hard). She shows this way that Declan has crafted this fortress that protects him, but mostly protects those he loves. I also liked Jordan and Henessy. I liked how each brother latched onto one of them, how Ronan took the one most like Declan, and Declan took the one most like Ronan. It’s so clever the entire dynamic that exists around the four of them. I also love Adam Parrish and Opal and would kill for either of them.
I’m fine, this pandemic isn’t affecting me, I say as I smear on bad eyeliner and lipstick and log into ao3 for the first time in years
this is falling in love in the cruelest way; this is falling for you and you are worlds away.
I finished my reread of Carry On and my info skimming of Fangirl, and I now proudly present:
The “WTF Happened before Eighth Year again???” Resource!
For anyone writing a fic that takes place before Carry On, anyone trying to add extra references into your SnowBaz arguments, and anyone (like me) who has a severe need to be canon complacent even when canon isn’t entirely a thing
Here’s the google doc link too! It has more explanation and some facts that didn’t make it into these graphics
All I know is draw messy pynch and cry
does anyone have fic recs I haven’t read any in so long
Note: THIS ART IS NOT A WS SPOILER. 😁
Inktober begins in a few hours, so I’m kicking it off with some Copic markers and Prismacolor pencils!
I hope you’ll forgive the somewhat compromised quality of these photographs—I took them in Nashville, which is where I was when I completed this set! It’s a belated gift for my beloved friend @carryonsimoncarryonbaz featuring text from her wonderful post-Carry On AU fic, “Never Tear Us Apart” (which is a gorgeous read especially if, like me, you needed a bandaid over your heart after reading Wayward Son). The lettering was accomplished by the talented and lovely @penpanoply, and it was just so cool to be in the same room finishing this strip together while CSCB watched (and cried). ❤️
For those interested in seeing the process of creating this set, I’ve put the production shots under the cut:

Per EVERYONE’s request, albeit @andakillerqueen beat everyone to the punch, here is the Red Room Scene from Red White and Royal Blue! Having seen this room in person on a tour of the White House, this was a fun challenge. Although I swear, it took just as long to paint the dang Hamilton painting and its picture frame as it did to paint Henry and Alex. Lol
Can you what, Simon? Kiss me? Kill me? Break my heart?
