Returning to the subject of friends, kind of hilarious that JASPER is the only one other than Carlisle who has any friends. Jasper, the stand-offish one; Jasper, the one that always seems a little on the outside of family circle; Jasper, the one with a century of vampire-on-vampire murder under this belt.

He has two friends, Peter and Charlotte. And I mean, three, I guess, if you count him being on good enough terms with Maria that neither of them actively want to kill the other.

Carlisle's like, oh here is Alistair, whom I met wandering the English countryside. And Siobhan, a dear friend with a remarkable gift. And Amun and Kebi, who are the last of the ancient Egyptians. And Zafrina and Senna, protectors of the Amazon, although I'm sorry Kachiri couldn't join us. And Garrett, whom I met working as an army surgeon at Yorktown, and . . . and . . . and . . .

Meanwhile Jasper is like: Here's Peter. He helped me kill newborns when their time was up until he fell in love Charlotte. Also a friend. We were supposed to kill her but he refused and they ran away together. They eventually came back to get me away from Maria, our creator, who recruited us into a never-ending vampire war. We're on good terms, but she doesn't visit anymore after The Incident.
