Joker gives Mike his best innocent smile, knowing that it will probably annoy him more than put him at ease. Joker’s not here to kill anyone. Scouts honor! I promise! He figures Mike has seen his fair share of sordid characters come into his place of business. People who sit down and go on and on about whatever’s on their mind, venting to whoever will pay them any attention. With this bar located in the not so pristine and shiny part of Gotham City, Joker can guess he’s not the first villain to venture inside.

So what if his kill count is higher than the tab he’s running right now?

I’m a paying customer and I demand some respect!

“Go ahead, Mike, hit me again.” He smiles again, nudging his empty glass forward.

Mike pours him another two fingers. Joker grabs the glass and swigs it fast, and the hot burn of the liquid tingles down his throat. He wishes he could burn what he’s feeling right out of his brain. Burn Batman.

Fic Preview Text: The batarang. He trails his fingers against the bat-shaped metal before too-gentle hands guide his wrist back to his side.

“Don’t touch it. The paramedics…” Batman trails off as he lifts Joker, slow and calculated, still so annoyingly considerate of his state. Joker’s floating now, nestled in Batman’s arms, and it’s searing, the pain, but it’s also exhilarating and arousing that Batman finally—

“Went for… the… kill shot, eh? Ah— hah ha…” His words are lethargic and slurry, his laughter strained.

There’s a brief stumble in Batman’s stride and he growls, offended, conveying that no, this was an accident, and how dare Joker turn such a dire situation into a— well, a joke.
