that document, while not yet set into law, shows that the supreme court voted to overturn all federal laws protecting the right to abortion in the united states of america.

these prior rulings, roe and casey were decided on the basis that the surveillance of abortion as a medical procedure violated the fourth amendment of the united states constitution, which protects our right to privacy.

this decision will impact more than just abortion.

it will impact gender-affirming care, the drugs you’re prescribed, the surgeries and procedures you undergo.

Fanfic WIP Game

20. Hellsing confrontation fic

So basically this one’s kind of like my one shot set after Alucard first meets Anderson, where I try to take a look at what I think might be going through the characters’ minds, and to just like address details I would’ve liked to see come up! This one is after the Valentine brothers’ attack!

One of the biggest ???? aspects of Hellsing is how Alucard just does absolute jackshit in the basement while everyone’s massacred upstairs. He probably could’ve ended the entire thing in five minutes.

It’s especially interesting considering that the deaths are meant to hold weight! (Though the success of that is debatable.) Integra is blamed for them, and we get an entire sequence where, despite Walter attempting to shield her from the task, she ends up putting down all her ghouled soldiers personally. And it’s clearly really difficult for her! She also shoulders the blame for this happening because her soldiers weren’t ready, and idk poor leadership I suppose!

I think? There’s meant to be the implication that the Valentine brothers mowed through them so easily because they’re not used to dealing with armed ghouls on that scale, and also Walter may have leaked info? But either way, it went disastrously! When it seems like it didn’t need to!

So yeah the fic is basically just a one shot about Integra confronting Alucard like what the fuck, why, did you do that?? And he’s kind of like “Oh they were only soldiers, didn’t they enlist in order to fight and die?” And not necessarily comprehending why she’s so bothered. Anyway things also turn to discussions of whether he resents her and is quietly sabotaging her, etc. Surprising no one it is vaguely shippy, but like I wouldn’t say that’s necessarily the point.

Here’s another pill: companies and ad teams know that your 20s are extremely stressful and they purposely target you because they don’t care about making us all alcoholics as much as they care about profiting off of us.

cooler pill that I’d wish I’d known about when I was younger: if you’re struggling with alcohol, AA isn’t your only option. AA can be a bit dogmatic and sometimes hostile to certain communities, especially the LGBT.

there’s a group called SMART Recovery that has free meetings just like AA, but it’s all science-based and secular.

and here’s the thing for college students: unlike with AA, it’s okay if your goal is moderation and not abstinence. no one is going to make you feel like a bad guy for being young and just wanting help getting healthier, but perhaps not wanting to commit to being totally abstinent. google SMART Recovery, guys. they’re awesome. :)

If you have a person you trusted with a bit of your trauma, and then the first time you stand up to them, or get upset with them, they say something along the lines of ‘you’re acting like this because of your trauma’, know that this person is manipulating you.

It is extremely unlikely that you would stand up to something because of your trauma, because trauma from abuse makes it the exact opposite, it makes you afraid to standing up to someone, or from being upset with anyone’s behaviour towards you. If you stood up to them and got upset, it means what they did to you was wrong, and not only that, it means that it was so wrong, so upsetting and violating of your boundaries, that you stood up against it despite being conditioned not to, despite your fear that you will lose them, or get them offended. You did a brave, rational thing! If what upset you had to do with your trauma, even more so the reason to get upset! Regardless of what they want or expect of you, nobody should go so far to make you re-live your trauma, everyone who tries should be fought and defeated.

Only now you’re getting the feedback that it was irrational, that it was actually, ‘a trauma symptom’, and you’re not only wrong but should feel embarrassed for letting out how 'illogical’ and 'crazy’ you are. And you’re inclined to believe it. Because you’ve been emotionally gaslit before, you are already afraid of looking irrational when you fight for yourself, you’re not sure if the trauma made you react wrong; you’re not sure in any of your reactions. And you don’t want to believe that this person you trust so much, you feel is special to you, would do such a thing to you. That they would use your worst moments against you, just to get away with hurting you, just to get their way in the argument.

It’s often that trauma makes us isolated, and interaction with a person who sees good in us is rare. We’re inclined to attach to a person like that, we’re desperate for someone to see something special in us, or even just something good. When a rare, special person like that violates our boundaries, it’s hard for us to let go; because it’s rare, because we need it, maybe even depend on it. Because it would be so painful to be alone again. But, if they use your trauma to argue you into self-doubt and submission, they’re undoing all the good they ever did for you. 

If you monitor their behaviour, it becomes clear they invested time and energy to make you feel good, only so you’d get attached, be endlessly grateful, and let them use and discard you at will. It’s too cruel to acknowledge or even consider someone would do such a thing to you, after luring out the trust from you that was already violated so often. It’s despicable. Anyone who does this, is despicable. Know that you’re doing the right thing every single time you stand up for yourself. To inflict even more self doubt on you is evil.
