Computer Doodles- I wanted to try using the CNC router as a very fancy plotter so I cut this spring-loaded sharpie holder that could slide right into the 3/4" tool collet. I probably could have got the same results from just loading a sharpie in the collet itself but this way the load would be consistent and it would adjust if the sharpie point started to wear. I didn't have any good vector line work so I decided to see if I could make linework using adobe illustrator's live-trace feature. Rather than actually try to make linework from an image of line work I played around with starting with a photograph/engraving but using the "linework" tracing preset. This resulted in some pretty interesting paths and looked very cool when drawn on my makeshift CNC plotter. I created a preset for the image trace settings and hae been experimenting with different kinds of images and processing them in new ways. It seems photographs and engravings come out very well. I can also layer traces from the same image with different settings to get a fuller "value" in the trace result. By having illustrator join the short line segments I can also create some dynamic lines not unlike lay lines in a sketch- like in the pegasus above. Hope to try more of these and maybe make some prints.

Doing small illegal acts for minor gains or just because you can get away with it is basic anarchist praxis. Disobedience is a mindset that needs to be nurtured and a skillset that requires practice.
If you claim you will break the law once it becomes absolutely imperative, it’s very likely that when the time comes you will not have the confidence to take that step or the knowledge and experience to get away with it.
This isn’t a post for privileged people as some of you have claimed. This is actually DOUBLY true of you belong to several marginalized identities.
If fascists and the state are likely to target you simply because of who you are, you will not have the choice of neutrality or legalism or choosing your battles when it suits you.
Get that skill. Build networks with other people so you know who has which skill when you need it.
If the state decides to kill everyone like you, no amount of protesting will help. At that point breaking the law is literally the only thing that will keep you alive.

Meet Sister Rosetta Tharpe, the black woman who invented that rock and roll sound
You know what’s sad, before I even read this article I was ready to refute this because I grew up believing Chuck Berry created Rock and roll. It’s said how so many knew of this great woman yet none spoke on her greatness.
I also discovered Big Mama Thornton, who’s another hugely influential early inventor of rock and roll — I’m pretty sure Hound Dog was originally popularized by her, before Elvis stole it.
Love Sister Rosetta Tharpe! #BlackGirlMagic
