finally getting back round to completing my final few requests, so here is a sketch i drew of c netherstar duo (techno and purp) that my oomf asked for ! :D
Now I’m thinking about techno and his hair (again) and there’s the idea that if he doesn’t have multiple small braids, he has at least a single small one that hangs from just behind his ear. It’s adorned with beads that remind him of his family. A tigers eye for Wilbur, a piece of gold for Tommy, and naturally an emerald for Phil.
It settles as a comforting weight, and when in his piglin form, his hooves click rhythmically against the various stones and beads when he runs his fingers down it. He’s had it as long as he can remember; slowly adding to it as his family expanded.
It gets shorn off at the execution. His hair is chopped to just below his ears. The beads clatter to the ground and fall between the floor boards with a quiet clack that rings in his sensitive ears.
They had been afraid of him somehow using it as a weapon, or hiding something in it. That’s how they justified it. Really, when he meets Quackity’s triumphant gaze, he knows it was for far more than practicality.
Then he’s marched to his supposed death. It falls apart there and the rest is history.
He can’t get back the lost beads or the years of growth. But he does make sure Quackity can never gaze at him the same way again.
Guys let's get excited about may 16th.
I know Skarsgard's extreme straight white cisness is disappointing but he is a good actor and we're getting a show!
Will they add things we don't like, change things we loved, remove things we believe core?
Yes, yes they will. But let's give it a chance and get excited
We're getting a show!
what if alexander skarsgard plays murderbot with his natural accent. what if murderbot is swedish and the company is secretly ikea. what then.
Discovered Red Rising. I'm up the book 4 and I am feeling the blorbo pull of Sevro au Barca but fear spoilers if I scratch that Tumblr itch.
I love this psychotic goblin!
The eye opened and I wasnt prepared.
Techno fan artists checkout these eyes!
I often don't pay attention to lyrics, at least not on the first several listens to songs, but there are a few songwriters that strike me. What are your fave lyricists and why?
Ooh good question
Not sure is it was Eminem or Lil Wayne who wrote it for their No Love collab but I the lines
"my bars are full of broken bottles And my night stands are full of open Bibles"
tell a complete story all on their own.
That said Dylan will always be lyricaly incredible
In idiot wind. "I can't even touch the books you've read" you can feel all the bitterness in that line. "One day you'll be in the ditch flies buzzing around your eyes, blood on your saddle"

Little bit random, but as far as I can tell this is the earliest direct interaction between Philza and Technoblade on stream. It's from Minecraft Monday 4, weeks before they teamed up with each other. It's almost certainly one of the first times they talked. Also it's a really fun little interaction, I'm not sure why it doesn't seem to feature in any clip compilations I've seen.
Techno making Phil laugh from day one. Emerald duo my beloved!
IDGAF if the women in my fiction are empowering or aspirational, I'm an adult, I don't need role models, I want the women in my fiction to be interesting, and if that involves being pathetic, hypocritical, amoral, or trapped in a delightfully dysfunctional relationship so be it
A thousand times this. And yes I want my characters, male and female, problematic as all fuck. I want them to make bad choices and have weakness and make people think about morality and growth and backsliding. there's nothing compelling about perfect people living bland problem free lives

tags by @scottfreed, I'm weeping.
And the most kudosed fic in the gen tag is the mighty Passerine.
SBI gen fic supremacy
“i don’t owe anyone anything” is one of the most incredibly callous and damaging phrases to enter popular vernacular. you owe everyone kindness and consideration, always. understand the idea of a social contract. you cannot reap the benefits of human society and interaction while maintaining such a cold and thankless attitude about it. i mean you can but you’d be a bad person for it
Often those most inclined to this sort of attitude are also most vocal about what they are owed. It's all about "my rights" without any "my responsibilities"
One thing I really appreciate about Martha Wells’ writing is how she manages to do so much with so few words.
one thing I've thought about the diaries is that they are undeniably woke (and I say that as someone who thinks woke is a good thing). But Wells allows the gender identities, sexual orientations, ethnicities, neuro divergence and poly relationships to at once be front and center of the novel and yet somehow utterly incidental in their normalcy.
And I think it's the few words thing that makes that work so well, the way Wells doesn't labour any points and never preaches but just wraps it all up into a narrative that's quick and compelling.
Listening to Fugitive Telemetry and was giggling for a solid 5 minutes over the scene with the old escape pod thing the "bag"
"I'd just haver to trust the stupid bag"
"my bag was now blorping it's way down there hull"
Kevin Free delivers those sorts of likes perfectly
Apple TV+ has officially picked up Murderbot, a 10-episode sci-fi drama series starring and executive produced by Emmy winner Alexander Skar
Congratulations to Martha Wells, who very much deserves that sweet Hollywood cash for her years in the midlist SFF author mines. A big fucking No Thank You to casting a cis white dude as Murderbot, I guess lest we miss out on a TV show reassuring us that cis white men are people too.
i get this and I agree to a large extent but isn't Wells involved in the show? If they're happy then we should probably not pass judgment too early.
Unless they drop the drone army murder bot carries in all its many pockets, then I'll riot.
Absolutely loved the Slow Horses tv series very very good stuff. But I recently read the first book and I do now have a gripe. In Slough House Book1 (Slow horses) Hassan saves himself from his captors. I love this, I love that the victim escaped on his own without the arrival of the cavalry. I know it makes better TV to have the heroes rushing in with a chopper overhead and everything but it steals the individual courage and resourcefulness of the secondary character (the ordinary person). Not to mention feels a little white saviour-y But still incredible show, love Oldman so much.
Dude, are you having some kind of mental breakdown?
What's with all these distraught There Is No Such Thing As Community And Joy asks?
Maybe there isn't for you right now, but if so, it's because you're relentlessly negative and impervious to reality.
what is the point of art that touches no one?
There is no real or fake way of creating something yourself. You wrote it or drew it, you have brought something new into reality. Fuck the original source spouting such nonsense.
My hot take is that I absolutely post fanfic because I crave validation and the dopamine rush of comments and kudos, but also because writing for the sheer joy of writing is pretty much exactly what fanfiction epitomises: a medium where there's no financial reward, and the primary joy of it is in playing in someone else's sandbox. Wanting validation / enjoying seeing others enjoy your work doesn't negate the joy of creating. Writers write to be read.
That's not even a particularly hot take. Chefs cook so that people will eat their food. Musicians write songs so that people will listen to them. Artists paint so that people will look at their art. Writing isn't some special, secret thing that hashtag true geniuses do in the dark for no purpose other than pure catharsis and their own spiritual enlightenment. That's what listening to Ethel Cain is for.
i also post fanfic because I want to read fanfic. If everything guarded their art (yikes that sounds pretentious) as jealously as this ask then there'll be nothing to read
