health isn't a virtue.
people still go around acting like they've done something good in order to be able bodied and healthy. that they worked for it, that it's due to their moral fibre or good upbringing or self control. they genuinely, on some level, believe that they are a good person solely based on the strength of their physical abilities. they will resist the fact that it is largely down to chance that they were able to maintain such health. whatever they think they've built from scratch, the building blocks were already handed to them. not because they're more worthy of it, just by luck. and they really think they're worth more based on that sheer luck. i've met disabled people worth a hundred of the healthiest ableds alive.
i dont care if monday sucks... tuesday cost me sixty bucks... wednesday thursday give no fucks. it's friday im a duck

As a heartless killing machine, I was a terrible failure.
Little cover design doodle from like a week ago that I never posted :') more to come. Maybe. Eventually. We'll see.
Was driving with my grandmother and in broken English she says “no eyes… no nose… no face. Don’t trust.” To which I looked around wildly in search of this omen of ill portend.
Cybertruck. It was a cybertruck.
The Hobbit movies would have been vastly improved by going the same route as the The Princess Bride movie
Just constant cuts to the future with Frodo chiming in as Bilbo tells the story to be like “that’s not how you told it when I was little!” and “wait, you never mentioned these orcs chasing you!”
And Bilbo hems and haws like “well, I didn’t want to scare the children” etc and we see the same scene get replayed multiple times with slight variations as Frodo and Bilbo bicker about the details of what actually happened
(And then we can do an extra gut-punch at the end where Bilbo tells the little kids “yeah, the dwarves were all fine, nobody died, they recovered from their wounds and went on to rule the kingdom” and maybe we get a glimpse of a universe where that happened… but Bilbo turns away as soon as the children are gone and stared out the window while he relives the truth all over again 😭)
plus we could have seen the original version where Gollum just gave the ring to Bilbo as the prize in the riddle contest, and then have Frodo say "That's funny because Gandalf told me...." and then the true version, at which point Bilbo clears his throat awkwardly and looks at the ceiling.
Elizabeth and Darcy, side by side. Pride and Prejudice (1995)
The whole point of Xena’s character, of course, is that she really kind of enjoys murdering the shit out of people and it takes conscious force of will on her part to hold herself back from doing so when it’s not moral, and Lucy Lawless plays that so well. And I appreciate that. Not a lot of female characters who are allowed to just go fucking feral with bloodlust.
Xena basically frames hatred and violence as a sort of addiction, and I actually think that this is a more sophisticated treatment of a redemption arc than most other stories I’ve seen on the subject.
Gabriella: Oh noes, crisis of the week!
Xena: Not to worry, I have a solution!
Gabriella: Is it murder?
Xena: I mean, its not-not… Yes, its murder, but for a good cause.
Grabriella: *angry pout*
Xena: Very well emotional-support-bard. We shall try wacky shenanigans first.
Gabriella: Don’t worry Xena, we’ll get you thirty days without murder for sure this time!
Narrator: Xena would not get her red murder-sobriety chip this time.
I always remember the quote from Lucy Lawless, about Xena as she first appeared which is from a great interview in general about her work.
She was a warlord. She was worse than any of the creeps that worked for her. I think a lot of the good men — namely, Hercules — made her see the light. Then she didn’t want to kill people any more, mate. She wanted to love people instead.
But she’d done such terrible things in her past — she knew she was irredeemable. She was a flawed hero.
I remember discussing with the executive producer [Robert Tapert], whom I’m married to today, that Hercules is the hero you hope is out there somewhere, and Xena is the hero within every man — the flawed hero — which is a cool thing to be. It’s very interesting to play a character that is not all good.
reason 1 million why i love zukka: how extra insane it makes hakoda's family tree

If I was Denethor the second, Steward of Gondor I would not have sent my son to a council meeting to try and get a cursed ring- I would have sent both my sons out to Seduce Aragorn by any means necessary.
If I wanted the crown of Gondor and to secure leadership for my family for all time I would have said boys. Get out there. Make it happen. Fluff your beautiful shiny hair up. Make papa proud
you cannot just leave this in the tags @greatmolassesflood
"Boromir, impress him with your manly charm and sexual charisma. Faramir, some guys are into pathetic wet sacks, I guess."
Boromir: It's okay you're not a pathetic wet sack, you're just bookish and in touch with your emotions. Faramir: Really? Denethor from the other room: NO, YOU'RE A FUCKIN SAD SACK FIXER-UPPER, BUT WE'RE TRYING TO GIVE HIM OPTIONS
I hate when king arthur has all these fussy little steps in the instructions and you're like "no way do these fussy little steps matter" but you try it and they do. they matter so much.
I thought you meant Camelot quests and I was like "that's fair, 'never pick a four leaf clover on the last Wednesday of the month' IS a fussy little step that shouldn't matter" but then I was like "wait isn't that also a flour company"
nooo I am not a beleaguered knight of the round table I am making elaborate focaccia 😭

sometimes being a fan of something means not wanting them to make any more of it
so many people ive known have pushed themselves to burnout trying to deny their disabled reality, skipping accommodations, skipping rests etc. and the world convinces them that the solution to their burnout is to push even harder. it’s a huge tragedy. i know social pressures make it tough but i want more disabled people to make things easier for themselves where possible, to opt out of things that harm them when possible, to quit while they’re ahead. be that person today! protect yourself where you can! take micro breaks while doing your hobby. get that shower chair. sit to brush your teeth. lie down in the middle of the day, even if only for 5 mins. these things add up and it’s so worth it.
happy disability pride month! ACCOMMODATE YOURSELF TODAY!
