I’m not sure if this will be helpful to anyone, but you literally do not have to be a good writer to write and post fan fiction. Yes you will naturally get better at writing and finding your voice the more you do it but you do not have to be or become a professional level writer to enjoy writing and sharing fics. It’s common to hear people praise fic writers by saying their work is better than published books, and while I think this comes from a good place, that’s not the norm or expectation. There is also a sentiment that fic writing is “good practice” for becoming a better writer or doing something else later, but if fic is the only creative writing you ever do that is literally okay. Your technical skill does not mean you cannot have fun and build community with your writing, or that other people cannot love and find meaning in your work.

I'm gonna be ✨real✨ for a sec. My best friend passed away in February. For the last few years I'd been trying to find myself a bit after working so hard to kick bad, scary habits I'd forgotten how to like, have fun? And I like, lost myself a bit and didn't have any hobbies and got back into writing when I was really trying to listen to all her advice to me to actually do things for fun and that I didn't need to punish myself forever for bad choices and I could like, enjoy myself and my life even if I had made bad choices.

So I started writing Sleeping Sickness!

My writing has improved for sure but it's definitely not for publishing. It's for me. It's for fun. I've made so many irreplaceable friends and I have pulled myself out of some weird darkness and I've even found more hobbies and stuff.

No, absolutely not. It’s the opposite. Mules will straight up refuse to do things if they don’t have the confidence that they can complete it. This is where the term “stubborn as a mule” comes from. A horse would attempt these feats and break its weak little ankles and roll over and kill its rider. Mules do this because they know they can. That’s also why mules and donkeys are used as mounts around the Grand Canyon, they’re both sure-footed and stubborn and will refuse to do things that put them and the rider in danger when a horse would listen to the call of the void and just do it. Donkeys are less domesticated than mules, less dependent on humans and more self-assured, this is why they can be harder to train but also why they have such great self-preservation skills. A mule inherits those traits from its father.
