I'm nothing if not a casual reader, and I was raised Catholic. As today is December 25th, I'm thinking about how I enjoy stories from the Christian universe. I realized that I think of it in a fan-fiction way. There's the Harry Potter-verse, the Marvel-verse, and so, of course, the Christian-verse. The Bible can kind of be canon, and let's nod to The Divine Comedy and Paradise Lost, but it also contains works like Constantine, Supernatural, and Good Omens (possibly the Good Place? but very loosely, as those writers intended). I've always loved the movie Stigmata. I enjoy the specific rules of magic that come along with the Christian universe, and how directional it all seems. I'm just rambling casually--very much not an expert, as I acknowledge many truly are!

Watched the film adaptation of Red, White, and Royal Blue today. It was lovely. I realized today, though, that my brain had cast John Leguizamo circa Romeo+Juliet as Alex, and I was shook when I heard Taylor Zakhar Perez's lovely bass tones, lol.

Spidypool prompt!

We begin with fun-drunk Peter Parker. He lost his shoes. He went clubbing with lady gal pal of your choice and had fun and harmless shenanigans, so the shoe thing isn't bothering him. Now to Deadpool, who knows Peter as Spidey's hot piece friend who works himself too hard, just like Spidey. Deadpool finds him shoeless, somehow inebriated, and flirty; and to Deadpool's surprise, Peter is sporting a lovely blue pedicure. Peter laughs, explains how it was an earlier part of girls' night. Service-top Wade is speechless and so, so turned on. That soft, beautiful Peter would take the time and effort to actually take care of himself, or pay someone else to touch and comfort for his perfect toes, and while we're paying people, why doesn't Wade just step in and touch--and that's where his downright, come-in-his-pants kink lives, on his knees, worshiping at Peter's feet. But this is Peter, not Spidey! Peter's pedicure broke Deadpool, so the merc runs away in a panic. Peter grumps but gets it.

Now let's turn it up! Days later, Spidey's finishing a fight with a baddie when Deadpool finds him, and somehow, one of Spiderman's boots is shredded and destroyed. Spiderman himself is fairly bruised and could use a hand, but when Wade offers and looks him over, he can't help but recognize the same shade of blue nail polish, now a bit ragged and worn. Identity reveal through pedicure! Wade, however, stays focused on the objective--helping Spidey/Peter heal. So he takes Peter back to his home/bolt, cares for his bruises, and let's him sleep it off on the couch in borrowed clothes. But Peter's worn pedicure is torturing Wade--he can't stand that Peter is deserving of better care and doesn't give in to it. So while Peter is napping, Wade gives Peter a new pedicure, not for his own pleasure but because Peter deserves it. Peter wakes on the tail end of a foot massage that leaves him hard and aching for more. And then the smexin!

take you like a drug by @callsignvalley / callsignvalley (Sereshaw | E | 12,848) don't walk, run to read this fic. a neighbors AU where Jake and Bradley have competitive sex, featuring both bottom!Bradley and daddy kink. it's PERFECT. I haven't stopped thinking about it since I read it.

most arduously by @gothampot / MadeItUp (Sereshaw | M | 18,700) the college professors AU you didn't know you needed. featuring snark, intellectual debates, lectures as foreplay, and these fools finding their way to each other as the universe intended.

hot as a fever, rattling bones by Notchka88 (Sereshaw | E | 6,058) this fic captures the feeling of a summer heatwave so perfectly. Notch's characterisation of a Jake and Bradley who can't help but be competitive down to the last is so spot on and the smut is A++

calefaction by @reiverreturns / reiverreturns (Sereshaw | M | 9,049) Reiver has such a particular way of writing that I'm absolutely obsessed with. so many lines in this fic had me literally groaning out loud at how gorgeous they were. I'm such a sucker for heartfelt conversations and learning there's more to someone than you first thought and this fic captures that beautifully.

crazy 'bout a sharp-dressed man by @gothampot / MadeItUp (Sereshaw | E | 11,202) I'll be honest - I'm not usually a fan of characters being outright oblivious in fics, but Rock handles it so masterfully. the tension is exquisite and the payoff is so goddamn good! the smut had me blinking like a owl at my screen, truly.

all our yesterdays by Notchka88 (Serehsaw | E | 30,292) TIME LOOP FIC. I can't express to you how much I love this fic. Notch is so deft and concise with her writing but so so so capable of infusing it with so much feeling and yearning and heartache... fics don't often make me cry but this one managed it both times I've read it. so many gorgeous lines, seriously brilliant writing!
