Becoming a Christian isn’t a get out of jail free card from the troubles of life. In fact, Jesus explicitly told us that we WOULD face tribulations, but in the same breath He also gave us some uplifting news- that He had overcome the world so we have nothing left to fear. (John 16:33)
Sometimes that doesn’t provide much consolation though, does it? You might have the head knowledge that yes, God is there but it doesn’t really give you a solution to the problem. You just want to stop stumbling through the darkness and reach the light at the end of the tunnel.
One thing that’s important to remember is that even when things are at their worst, as believers we can still have peace! I’m not talking about what the world describes as peace. That “peace” isn’t even a shadow of the God-given peace we have through Jesus Christ, the peace that surpasses all understanding. That peace comes when we’re completely relying on Him and not what we can do in ourselves. The Bible tells us to be strong in the Lord and in the power of HIS might. It says nothing about self sufficiency, because believe it or not, true freedom comes when we’re completely entangled in Christ.
It’s also vitally important that you make time to draw near to God, because He WILL draw near to you when you do. If you don’t immediately get results, be persistent. God isn’t a distant God. He desires an intimate relationship with all of His children so He’s not going to withhold himself.
Whatever you’re facing right now, remember that God loves you. I know it’s hard to keep walking forward when you can’t even see three feet in front of you but take heart, God knows exactly where you are and where you’re going. You will see the victory over this circumstance, because we are more than conquerors through Him who loves us.
God is faithful:
Numbers 23:19
“God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent; has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?”
Deuteronomy 7:9
Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments-
2 Timothy 2:13
If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.
Isaiah 55:11
So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.
Peace in the storm:
Philippians 4:6-7
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Isaiah 26:3
You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.
Isaiah 54:10
For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.
Psalm 29:11
The Lord will give strength to His people. The Lord will bless His people with peace.
Matthew 11:28-30
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
John 16:33
“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
Strength through Him:
Psalm 73:26
My flesh and my heart fail; but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
Isaiah 40:29-31
He gives power to the weak,
And to those who have no might He increases strength.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
And the young men shall utterly fall,
But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
Philippians 4:13
