“if you love this character then you must make him happy in your fics, right?” wrong. the horror. suffering. internal hemorrhage. hospital. immediately
one part of my own artistic philosophy, which has real moral and political meaning for me, is that the most important task in depicting any human individual, no matter how horrifying, is to track an honest attempt to understand their own motivations and belief system and interior reality, despite how supposedly unaccountable or hard to understand or difficult to confront this may be, and then to communicate that with as much rigor as possible.
top 5 me posts of all time
I really do think an important component of activism is to make sure your motivation is based on a desire to help/improve things for the people being harmed by a system, and not hatred for the ones doing the harm. both for mental health reasons, and because either way you're training your neural pathways and it's gonna turn out a lot better for literally everyone if the question on everyone's mind after achieving a goal is "how/which people can we help next, what's the next step for improving things" and not "who do we need to attack next."
I'm not saying don't be angry, there are a lot of good reasons to be angry right now and it makes for an excellent kick in the pants, just don't define yourself by it or it's gonna poison you and potentially do collateral damage.
the easiest people to attack will always be whoever’s closest and whoever’s vulnerable.
if you’re training yourself to enjoy the thrill of righteous violence, your easiest, quickest joy is going to be from attacking someone in your peer group, not whoever’s actually got the social leverage to be oppressing you.
this is called lateral violence and is the absolute bane of activist circles everywhere.

art in honor of Trucy's most iconic moment: pretending to be held at knife point to get a 20 minute recess to tell Apollo something she could have just said during the cross examination.

be kind to pit bulls or im kicking your ass so hard your great grandchildren will feel it
People are allowed to not like pitbulls
you can not like an animal and treat them with the common decency every animal deserves. pitbulls are widely stigmatized and abused. you can treat them with decency because you are a human being with the mental capacity to understand right and wrong (unlike a dog btw) and you can know better than to be thoughtlessly cruel to animals. you dont have to like them. you can ignore them and move on.
I lowkey hate when programs talk to me in a friendly way. "don't worry, nearly there!" Shut up. It should say "loading 64.3% completed. Do not turn off device" and absolutely nothing else. You arent my friend you are computer. Act like it
something you learn fast and necessarily when you get into the habit of writing is that you are riddled with blind assumptions, prejudices, unpractised rhetoric and all kinds of unchallenged cicada shell thoughts that were left stuck to your mode of being when bad ideas fled you. most people get to move through the world behind a kind of modesty veil that divides their internal thoughts from their external observations, but you have to take that off when you write. you have to suddenly present the whole world to itself nakedly, without the kindness of someone who can stop you mid-sentence and say "hold on, I know you, you can't possibly mean that". people are often scared to show their work to an editor in case the editor points out what they look like without their modesty veil, but god, christ, hell and heaven, you have to be more afraid of what the whole world of strangers will see if you don't let someone pick the cicada shells off you first.
op is wordy, bloated, stylistically self-conscious. suggest condensing: "an editor is a guy who eats bugs"
