I'm that one really lame mutual with extremely boring and uninteresting takes. Fortunately mutuals such as i are very important to the ecosystem of Tumblr
tbh i think shane plays at least half his games hard anyway. just from the adrenaline and being the best. and when he scored a hat trick that secured their place in the playoffs for the first time? came in his nut cup
While it wouldn't have made a difference anyway, I think Dirk forgot to explain to Magnus the part where for a contract to be legally binding, it has to be signed by both parties first...
I'm guessing having ownership would've given Mortuga total freedom to do what he wanted with the submarine. Like maybe destroy it once and for all, or maybe sell it to make up for the Inn, and stopping Gripp from trying to find the Mermaid Tongue. This was before Gripp found out about the actual location of the Mermaid Tongue too I'm pretty sure, so maybe it could've worked as plan you know? If you set aside how determined Gripp was about speaking to The Mermaid and Mortuga's lack of knowledge in how basic contracts work, that is.
you know that post about characters that try to solve every narrative challenge with a self-sacrificing suicide. well what's great about ilya is that he's not even in a genre where that's a reasonable solution. like it makes sense in buffy. it does not make sense in hockey games. but does he let that stop him?? no he has the CONVICTION of his beliefs. ilya captain voice alright boys listen up i know we're down by 2 but we can still win this cup. if i disembowel myself on the ice-- (the entire team groans in unison)
i know people always talk about the stairwell scene because of the ridiculously tender kiss but can we take a moment to discuss the way shane's hugging ilya's jacket and looking at him while he's getting ready to leave... #casual
having a best friend who meets your level of freak is unmatched. you present them with the most unhinged, deeply buried thought from the depths of your psyche and instead of blinking blankly they just go "oh absolutely"—and I think that mutual brain rot like that is the highest form of intimacy actually.
