osmp designs (part 1??? maybe??? idk???)
The fundamental problem with Scar and Grian when it comes to forming alliances is a difference of expectations. Grian is a tactician. He assumes that in a war or a big multiplayer game, you need to get yourself a loyal team. Anybody who is on your team is your buddy, anybody who isn't on your team is your enemy. That is the only way to win. Anybody who won't pick a side is not to be trusted, and he is surprised and annoyed if someone won't make their allegiances clear.
Scar, on the other hand, is a diplomat. He never thinks about forming a team because his assumption is that everyone he meets is going to be nice to him. His charisma is high enough that this is true way more often than not. Even when he is being a chaos gremlin, he tends to get away with it for much longer than he probably ought to because he is funny and charming and just a little bit intimidating. He doesn't consider people he makes deals with to be teammates because he doesn't see the world in terms of teams, but as a network of shifting relationships. He is surprised and annoyed when the web starts getting sticky, with various friends starting to want him to fight other friends.
Grian believes that loyalty deserves loyalty, and that if you are someone's teammate you protect each other no matter how you feel. Scar believes that friendship is what it is, and that relationships can ebb and flow with time and circumstance. Note that in Third Life, newly-red Scar seeks to reestablish a friendship rather than confirm that Grian is still loyal to him, and that in Double Life, Grian justifies his secret soulmate by rationalizing that the relationship will in the end also benefit Scar by keeping them safe. Note also that in Last Life and Double Life Scar wanted to live alone but work together and Grian was not at all on board with that because you can trade and borrow and joke from separate bases but you can't really protect one another.
There is always going to be friction in their alliances because Scar wants a buddy and Grian wants a teammate and those two things are not always compatible at all. It's going to be the same thing with Hermitopia because the more Grian tries to loop Scar into the team, the harder Scar is going to fight to get away, while at the same time Scar is very unlikely to actually take sides against the Hermits because they are his friends. Neither of them can get what they want from each other because neither of them have figured out how to make the other understand what it actually is.
Maybe they need another panda sanctuary. I hear that's good for communication.

(flower requests)
something something watch your backs happy ides of march lol
this one up and coming server… my ultimate lineup of all 35 dsmp characters! it was great practive and an opportunity to draw many characters i hadnt drawn before
extra details: - all of sbi have braids (either in their hair or, in technos case, his beard) - wilburs trenchcoat is covered head to toe in patches and flowers thanks to tommy, who used to wear it until wilburs revival. the patch on tommys current cardigan is more accurate in size, seeing as he honed his sewing skills as time went by - tommys Drista Knife design is inspired by @/birdiebrunch’s wonderful work - as much as i love manibot designs, i made him a scarecrow of some sort, rebuilding himself from the (under)ground up after his final death. hes also got his old l'manberg uniform tied around his waist - technos belt pattern has a bell in the center - all syndicate members have emerald patterns on one or more items of clothing, except for niki who mainly wears armor - the skin on quackitys arms is burnt (after jumping into the lava to save charlie) - quackity, charlie and fundy all have matching ruffle collars, each being their complementary color - tina has a golden carrot necklace! - each individually colored layer on karls shawl references (almost) all locations he’s time traveled to - george is literally rotting. hes covered in moss and mushrooms some even getting on his clothes - tommy, sapnap and eryn are all imps - the enchantment table language on dreams left forearm is revival spells - the jester is drista! goddess of mischief - dreamXD’s plain green gown as opposed to everyone else’s detailed clothing is to signify his godliness and purity - that blazer connors wearing most probably Does Not belong to him. - boomers literal frog hat is inspired by @/_mikocha’s beautiful art - almost everything purpled is wearing/equipped with is purple, except for what he brought from “home”
what if the boatem hole told scar how to escape as a thank you for how many things he (unwillingly) sacrificed to it / support my art if you’d like :)

“Please stop poking me,” Mumbo says.
“I’m not, though! I’m not touching you!” Grian says, a shit-eating grin on his face.
“Yeah, but I can feel it, Grian. You’re… you’re poking me in spirit.”
“Yeah, but I’m not touching you.”
Impulse turns to Pearl. Pearl is watching the two of them like it’s a ping-pong match, a steady amusement on her face. Well, he thinks, they are all rather bored, and the novelty of the road trip thing had worn off, oh, some nondescript amount of time ago. It is also rather funny to watch Mumbo try to figure out how to contort properly in freefall to prevent Grian from touching him.
“Well then, I’m not touching you!” says Mumbo, with a huff, slamming his hand towards Grian’s face and stopping it at the last minute. Grian’s wings instinctively puff up and spread out, immediately whacking both Scar and Mumbo. “B- but you just lost! You touched me!”
Pearl cheers. Impulse resists the urge to.
“This isn’t a competition,” Grian says. “Besides, that’s cheating. You know that I puff out my wings when I’m startled!”
“Oh, like you wouldn’t use the same tactics.”
“I wouldn’t!”
“Yes, you would!”
“I wouldn’t!”
“Grian, yes -”
“If you two don’t stop I’m turning this evacuation around,” Scar says, having finally gotten free of the wing that had been flung into his face. “Don’t think I won’t! I will use patented Swaggon technology and turn us right around!”
There’s a strange quiet.
“Scar,” Mumbo says, his voice eerily steady. “Scar. If you have had a way to actually steer us this whole time, and have not been using it, let me assure you, Grian broke my no-killing streak. I have no need to maintain peace. So, when we are on solid land again and I have the ability to move properly? You will never know peace again! In fact, I will make it my mission to kill you! You will step out of your house, and bang, end crystal! You go to build? TNT canons! You try to sleep, and I’ve set up traps in all of your beds! You try to run, well, I have very long legs! You will not know a day of safety again! In fact, I am contemplating a way to kill you right now! Do you understand?”
Next to him, Impulse watches Pearl and Grian’s mouths drop open into twin expressions of naked delight. Scar blinks, meanwhile, rather in the manner of a deer that has just noticed a mountain lion in front of him.
Ah, Impulse thinks. Friendship.
a little grian comic i made (this post is scheduled i'm watching mcc)
gods. it’s just been this thought i’ve had ever since i learned the bedrock was being moved down.
the bedrock is there, functionally, to protect you. the void is the only death you can’t cheat in some way, and the bedrock protects you from getting too close to the nothing. it protects you from the other side.
but now, the bedrock has been moved down, and it’s about to reveal the warden, and the deep dark cities
and i can’t help but to think — if the warden has been revealed by the bedrock,
what did the bedrock decide was more dangerous than that?
there is peace in the midnight alley. silent, with distant sounds of creatures echoing trough the cavern. it's rare though. not why it's peaceful
there is no moon in the fake midnight sky. there is only stars, and darkness
do you think the hermits come, when it becomes... too much? when the sky is too bright and nothing feels safe anymore? sleeping is futile, and this new... social group... really does make a danger out of a thing such as sleeping.
there was no rain in hermicraft. no night.
now there's no sleeping
instead, there is a false peace of a fake sky, and night brighter than the day
