Iām currently watching 10 B.L.s!
Some of them are definitely potential new all time, so I need to talk about them! This is them from my least favourite to favourite:
10. Takara-kun to Amagi-kun (JP)
A pure boy and popular boy like each other and start dating. Iām not a huge fan at the moment, but it has time to get better. I really liked Amagiās energy, but heās a bit too naĆÆve for me. Takara has that aloof/cool vibe. This doesnāt feel like anything incredible or special YET, but Jdrama B.L.s are my faves so Iām going to have hope and continue with this one! (ep 2/8)
2 boys d*e and wake up in an alternate universe, they need to find their āportkeyā to go back to their world. Oh! How disappointed I was with this series! So, the fantasy element is barely used in this drama, a better synopsis is: 2 boys decide to make a romance films together, as they do they start to fall in love. I was so excited for a proper fantasy series, but itās more an above average, cute romcom. (ep 7/12)
4 pairings and their struggles in the industry. This is dark and messed up, but thatās the BL industry. The 1st storyline interested me the most, so Iām unsure if Iāll continue after- plus itās really hard to watch these characters being hurt repeatedly. But the leads are incredible - their acting/chemistry is WOW! This may be too sad for me, and the message may be a little murky, but itās still a very necessary series. (ep 5/20)
At a prestigious boys school every Eclipse something bad happens to rule-breaking students. The head prefect and a rule-breaker start to fall in love. Iām really liking this. Itās so weird to see First play such a stiff character, but heās doing great and him and Khaotung have good chemistry. I like that itās enemies to lovers and Iām liking them gradually getting closer. (ep 3/12)
6. 180 Degrees Longitude Passes Through Us (TH)
A 20yr old and his mother get lost on a road trip and stumble upon his de*d fathers best friend. This is feels so intense and heavy. And Iām really intrigued to see where it will go! But the thing is this should be my favourite series, itās slowburn, itās visually stunning, I love the music and the leads have great chemistry, but for some reason itās not my favourite at the moment. Maybe Iām in my messy faze? (ep 3/8)
The story of 2 best friends and their changing relationship as they grow up. Iām not a fan of school dramas or Newās dramas but THIS IS BRILLIANT! News being a creative director for once! And Earths character may be a little whiny but heās so relatable! Santas is so lively, charismatic and real - heās doing the performance of a lifetime - itās only his 2nd job! Itās so cute that itās heart fluttering and the friendship actually feels real. (ep 3/14)
A lonely popular boy and a quiet musician become close, but need to run against each other for school president. Iāve been excited for this for a year and itās so perfect! The leadās interactions are unbelievably adorable and the music is the best thing ever - Iām obsessed! This director makes all my favourite Taiwanese projects and sheās done it again! But why is it the length of a Korean B.L!? (ep 2/8)
This is about 2 pairings each where 1 boy is chasing the other. Putting this so high might be controversial, but I seriously loved almost every single wonderful messy minute of the first 2 eps. The production is high, the actors are all charismatic and gorgeous and Iām just having so much fun watching the first couples story unfold. Their chemistry is actually ridiculous! Iām excited to see the second couple meet. (ep 2/13)
Mark is in love with his senior, but he doesnāt feel the same. Broken-hearted he sleeps with Vee, who has a girlfriend. I liked the mini series, but I wasnāt really excited for this. But I was so wrong! This series is giving me all the drama and chemistry that I want. Vee is so so charming and Mark breaks my heart constantly. Itās all the cliches I usually hate, actually done well! This is my biggest surprise of the year so far! (ep 8/10)
1. Minatoās Laundromat (JP)
At 27, Minato moves back to his hometown, there he meets Shin a high school student who has a crush on him. Yes, I know this is a problematic premise, but this drama is so beautiful! Itās from some of the Cherry Magic team, the leads chemistry is INSANE and the characters are incredible: Minato is adorable, Shin is the best confident gay ever and Asuka just loves the drama and I love him for it! (ep 8/12)
These are them! I think I may still be going through KP withdrawals, because I never watch this many! Some controversial ones, but I really do feel Iām in my messy series era at the moment! As I said I donāt actually dislike any of them itās just some are good and some are new all time favourites!
