she had consumed so much smoke you would have thought they were smoking a chimney worth—but she had worried where on earth were her sisters, they were trying to find their sisters but weren’t doing very well in that area through a crowd of people. everything had been locked down now and it was impossible trying to find a way out that they had relocated to back on the pitch. “are you alright?”

any  sudden  call  was  bad  news  ,  but  the  urgency  of  this  one  had  left  dorcas  on  edge  —  the  tightness  in  her  throat  a  vice  grip  as  she  reached  to  the  quidditch  match  and  set  to  work  .  she’d  been  trained  for  this  ,  she  knew  what  she  was  doing  :  yes  ,  she  felt  the  panic  rustle  inside  her  uncomfortably  but  there  was  no  room  for  it  now  .  later  ,  when  the  dust  settled  and  she  was  alone  ,  but  not  now  .  it  was  not  the  wisest  decision  —  running  through  the  thick  smoke  in  search  of  those  concealed  by  the  black  wall  —  and  the  dry  ,  burning  cough  was  far  from  pleasant  ,  but  it  was  worth  it  as  she  nearly  bumped  into  someone  .  "  hey  ,  hey  —  apparating  won’t  work  ,  but  we  need  to  get  you  somewhere  safe  .  i’m  dorcas  ,  field  mediwix  .  "

they were trained for crises, years of practice - every day a new problem and yet that feeling of initial terror never faded. she was moving quick through the crowd, clambering over the first step to get to the stands, she needed a visual –

wand directed at the hazy cloud of smoke, “deletrius” – clearing up what confirmed to be her fear of clustered crowds, people were scrambling to get out and from what she could tell - no one was apparating  – fuck. 

eyes widening in horror as she saw the rogue bludger coming their way, “oi – get down” yelling as she tackled them to the ground without a second thought – “are you alright?” breathing heavily as she rolled off of them, relieved to see that the bludger wasn’t back with a vengeance.

         there  had  never  been  a  time  when  the  streets  of  hogsmeade  had  been  so  empty  of  bodies  -  and  even  in  the  madness  of  it  all  ,  rosine  finally  finds  time  to  take  a  breath  .   this  had  been  the  day  that  she’d  been  dreading for  days  after  a  vague  warning  from  her  eldest  brother  but  this  was  far  worse  than  she  could  have  ever  imagined .   the  loud  thump  of  the  aurors  passing  by  is  signal  of  another  store  cleared  and  it’s  her  turn  once  more  to  clean  the  mess  that  continued  to  unfoil .  but  hogsmeade  ?   rodolphus  had  never  mentioned  something  happening  here  …  and  somehow ,  the  uncertainty  had  her  nerved  .  ❝ i  cannot  in  my  good  conscience  allow  you  to  slip  out  just  yet  -   ❞   she  says  with  gentle  tone  as  rosine  approaches  the  first  person .  ❝  the  area’s  not  cleared  just  yet  ,  so  while  we  wait ,  why  don’t  i  make  sure  that  scrape  there  isn’t  too  deep  ?  ❞

Merlin, this was fun. Reg had seen some of the damage from those accursed bludgers up close, seen the explosion and all, and finally pushed his way into one of the more blown-up parts of the stands to see if anyone would let him do anything exciting.

        the whole plan had felt shaky from the start as far as jess had been concerned, but there was little she could’ve said that would’ve mattered to anyone with the ability to change the plans - so when they’d gone in too early, it hadn’t been much of a shock to see everything backfire spectacularly. a quick word to patience - by godrick it was good to see her out doing what she was clearly more suited for, even if the only reason she’d been brought along was because they’d needed every remotely capable pair of hands they had - and they were off weaving through the crowd, checking in on people as they passed. “you should get out of the street - the cauldron was spilling over when i passed by, but if you think you can make it through the crowd the pestle and mortar was still letting people in.”
