Hockney's sun-drenched paintings regularly featured positive aspects of queer life during an era when the lgbtq+ community was encouraged to dwell in the shadows by an intolerant and unaccepting status-quo. The 1972 painting featured in this post entitled Portrait of an Artist (Pool with Two Figurines) sold during a 2018 Christie's auction of Hockney's works for $90.3 million in November 2018, establishing the painting as the most valuable work of art created by a living artist at the time.
In memory of David... July 9th, 1937 - June 11th, 2026 May he rest in peace. 🕊️

SEX AND THE CITY — 3.13
yes conservatism is on the rise yes tradwife content is as popular as ever yes pink jobs and blue jobs are fucking stupid BUT there is still such a big change in how straight women are talking about relationships online.
they're talking about how they're no longer interested in dating because their female friends treat them better than boyfriends do. they're realizing that being single is always better than being in a bad relationship. it's becoming a lot more normal and fun and hot for women to be single at any age. the women who have settled down with truly good men in truly happy relationships are encouraging other women to not take any shit because the right man won't need to be "trained". they're talking about how their mothers and grandmothers warned them to get a job and not get married, and they followed the advice.
tradwife content is performance. it's propaganda. there are so few women actually living that life. but we know for a fact that more women than ever are educated, working, and single. and all I see (admittedly in my woke ass algorithm) is women talking about how they're done settling for mediocre relationships. and I love it.
The rise in tradwife propaganda isn't a sign we're losing. It's a sign we're winning. They need to push this propaganda because women are increasingly waking up and being open about the consequences of trad dynamics. And that terrifies conservatives because their control over women and the family unit is how they exercise control over society.
“you’ll feel better after a good night’s rest” do i look like someone who has had one of those in the last two decades

Couldn’t be me- put a sword in that woman’s hand and I’ll buy it
Everyone's all "ohhh 2026 bring back physical media" until I start talking illuminated manuscripts and then suddenly we're not on the same page anymore
So, I've been feeling this a lot, and I came across a post about it, but the reblogs are turned off.
I'm a short butch- I'm 5'4". When there's a guy who's being horrendously bigoted, and he's 5'6", and you respond to it by making fun of his height, you are telling me that my height is something laughable, even if you're "only picking on him because he sucks." I mean, I am the same in this regard- I am also short. Why wouldn't I feel ashamed about that if you insinuate that it's something he should feel ashamed about?
This is the case for shortness, or baldness, or having a small dick, or impotency, any of the other "emasculating" things that I see other leftists deciding are okay to make fun of when they're targeting conservatives.
So mostly I try my best not to care, and I'm rarely online because I find that I'm better served actually caring for people in my real, physical community than shouting at strangers on the internet, because ultimately you all destroy each other over and over again, and it still doesn't help you feed your neighbors.
Insulting people is not change. Help people.
I think about this image all the time
