I don’t really need the Mando movie to be good. I want to have fun and then walk out of the theatre with new ideas for how I’d fuck him.

Okay but genuinely, I only want out of this movie what I get out of all the other Star Wars movies which is:

I get to appreciate fun puppets and practical effects

I go "WOW" at something cool/dramatic/large in space

I am repeatedly told that loving your friends is sometimes enough to do the scary thing and that it's always worth it and then I see that play out on screen

A Large Creature tries to eat the main characters at some point but everyone survives it

The good guys win at the end

I'm not expecting a complicated and emotional cinematic masterpiece, I am expecting a Star War. And because Pedro Pascal is in this one, I ALSO want to see him suffering and horribly wounded (hot) and covered in blood (HOT) and then I want to see him staring deeply into that little puppet's eyes and doing a sad little dad smile. (cute)

And then I want to take what I loved and set the rest on fire in my fics for all time. Likes to charge reblogs to cast.

When Orwell was alive, he worked for both the British imperial army in his youth, and for the cia later in his life. To act like he is not hilariously biased when it comes to the subject of communism and socialism is just plain revisionism of his life and the society that surrounded him. He wasn't a progressive writer, and this must be taken into mind when analyzing his work.

it has been repeated a thousand times, but his works aren't some "anti-authoritarian" anything. he was a man who had a deep disdain for the working class and the idea of the working class doing revolution. he had no problem being the boot on other people's throat. he had no problem making lists of political dissidents to report to the police. he wrote some dogshit novels about what he thought the USSR was like (he never went there or really studied it) during the second world war. he also wrote "I should like to put it on record that I have never been able to dislike Hitler" in his 1940 review of Mein Kampf. the only reason he is so well regarded is because the CIA pushed his works onto TV and into schools as anticommunist propaganda. he was always a worm and his works are just bourgeois wank.

I always interpreted Animal Farm as "assholes ruin everything" not "communism is bad." I did not know that Orwell was pushed as anti-communist propaganda by the CIA though, so that makes it rather more distasteful. It's kind of annoying how much of life is a psyop.
