I Want a Fuzzy.
"I’m never home because there’s nothing to do!" A flat screen television, almost endless collection of DVDs, video games, books, art supplies, and other hobby ideas - but nothing to do. "It was so much more fun when we could all sit together and just watch human turmoil together as a team." She sighed dramatically and grew quiet before readdressing her desire. "I want a chinchilla." Colette stated with confidence. "Cerberus was adorable, but other dogs…eh. And cats are… cats are cats. I hate cats. We’re not getting a cat.”
Lacey stared at her sister in a rather unamused fashion. "Nothing to do?" She rose a brow and gestured to the room around her. "Okay." She rolled her eyse and walked over, dropping onto the couch. "Well yes, but we can just watch reality shows and get the same effect..." She laughed, of course it wasn't the same, but it was funny. "A Chinchilla? That's just an extra fluffy mouse. I want a pet I can play with... I want a cat or a dog. Probably a dog... maybe we should just adopt the Trinity boys." She laughed, teasing because of their previous life.
I Want a Fuzzy.
"Lacey? Aisa?" Colette called out as she shut the front door with her hip and proceeded to take her shoes off. "Hellooo? I KNOW YOU’RE HERE." she yelled again as she carried her shoes by the heel and walked towards the kitchen. "I WANT -SLASH- AM GETTING A PET."
"We don't have time for a pet. We're never home... What kind do you want?" She'd always wanted Cerberus, but Hades had been... reluctant to part with him so that never happened... maybe a pet wouldn't be the worst dea.... okay so, being a being that was all powerful didn't really leave room for pets either. She was still a girl at heart.
Say What? || Vidia & Lacey
"That it is." Vidia felt an odd lump in her throat. Like her heart was rising and making way out to an exit. Thinking about her mother usually caused this. Everyone preached that she needed to forgive her mother so she could move on with her life. But Vidia never did a single thing wrong to her. A mother is suppose to love unconditionally! She needed to stop thinking about it before someone could see the stormy overcast of grey taking over her eyes. "Sounds like the job has potential. Knowing everything about everyone in town must have it’s benefits."
Lacey nodded with a smile, she wouldn't encourage anyone to forgive someone who left them like that. Of course, she knew it was because she was a pixie in The Enchanted Forest... but that didn't mean she needed to forgive the non existent woman who couldn't be bothered to stay for her child. To Vidia she was real, to the rest of the town she was real. There for there was no need to forgive her. She was a woman who deserved nothing of her daughter. "Oh it does. And with my sisters it's rare someone attempts to trouble any of us."
Never Rely On Fate || Lacey & Jefferson
Jefferson rose a brow at her persona, a tight smile in return. It was beyond a shadow of a doubt at this point. There was a sinister vibe to the trio. Sugary sweet innocence was foreign on their faces. Kindness. Politeness. There things he’d believe them to express. This, however, was far too off. “True love’s kiss,” he said simply. “Deny it if you like. I’m quite use to people pretending not to know what they know in mockery of me. Honestly, I’m more curious as to if you were awake before the kiss or after, if there was a kiss at all.”
"Not everyone drinks," he replied with a shrug. He didn’t know the bartender well. He’d only ever entered the bar once, at it was to do a favour for Queen Elsa. Alcohol had a vile taste, though he didn’t mind a fruity wine from time to time. He had no intention to visit The White Rabbit’s business. "Thank you," he replied with a small bow of his head.
"I won't deny it, I just wanted to see how long it would take you to figure it out." She smirked at him, not hiding her intentions. She didn't much care. "There was a kiss-- but I've always been awake. Just as you have. But, Regina only wishes she could take my memories from me. It's not something in her power to do. Where as you, on the other hand, she left them on purpose."
"No but many do, and it's a restaurant as well. But those that drink know those who don't and quite a lot of information passes lips loosened by alcohol. Of course he needs no informant now, truth be told." There was no point in pretending she wouldn't help Carlyle. She would. Because it was the truth. She knew what happened and the fates were nothing if not fair... eventually.
Let Fayte Guide You || Vannie & Lacey
“‘s smart to cover his tracks but…. just for silly plastic cards? I dunno. I never saw the excitement of drinking under age. It’s stupid and alcohol makes stupid people even stupider and smart people just as stupid as a bunch of bananas.” There was a revenue though. Or so she heard, for fake IDs. Kids paid even over a hundred dollars for one that ‘looked real’. Meanwhile, Vanessa shuddered at the thought of getting old. Turning eighteen sounded horrifying enough!
"Yeah! I c-" She paused, looking incredibly troubled. Did she mention her golden dream? Lacey Fayte was a detective but Vannie doubted she would care about her "pathetic dream", to quote Manning. "How did you know that?" She disregarded that Lacey graduated at fifteen and still looked worried. "Did Taylor Manning hire you? Or tell you about that? I’ve only told Anna about that- maybe. I’m not sure. I don’t remember telling you.”
"I think there was more to it perhaps, but I can't say. Never did find anything else." She shrugged, she knew exactly what this man did-- but that wasn't the point. She couldn't prove it and she didn't feel the need to either. He was good at his job and shockingly wasn't harming anyone. In fact he was rather necessary to leave free. "I can't say I see the appeal, I enjoy a good wine, but that's on certain occasions only." She still couldn't allow alcohol to loosen her tongue unless she was around her sisters or Carlyle.
Lacey held up her hands. "No, Taylor didn't hire me, I just guessed.I know everything about everyone in town... I think you can do it. It's in your blood." Code. "I'd sponsor you, if you ever need someone." She grabbed one of her cards from the holder on the desk and nudged it to Vanellope. She hadn't meant to startle her in the manner she did. She only liked freaking people out just a bit. Not making them quite so concerned. She meant no actual harm.
Never Rely On Fate || Lacey & Jefferson
Jefferson listened, picking apart her words, running them through his mind searching for an answer. True love may work it’s magic. “You did it,” he stared, eyes widening in shock. If she indeed did retain her memories, and she’d referred to Carlyle as her true love… There was no doubt in his mind.. Lacey Fayte had her memories, and possibly Carlyle too. Now wasn’t that interesting?
"A bartender isn’t always the best of leads, may I say. And if it’s not information I can provide, I’m also known to be useful in getting places. People with my talent are few and far between. I’m sure I can be useful in some way."
"Did what?" She gave him a sweet, perfectly innocent look. If Jefferson was smart enough he'd likely pick up that it was far too innocent for the detective's usual demeanor and she was just playing with him. She wanted to let him know, but what was the fun in outright telling him anyway? It was so much more fun to toy with others.
"Flynn knows his information usually." She pointed out. "Perhaps, I can't hurt either way. But It's rare that I need help. I have my ways of getting what I want. But it would be nice to have a simpler mean should I need it. I appreciate the gesture Jefferson."
Say What? || Vidia & Lacey
Vidia could imagine what it felt like. To feel unwanted, unimportant. “His own loss,” she commented, meaning it. Apologizing would make it worse. It wasn’t her place to say ‘sorry’ anyway. At least Lacey was strong enough not to dwell on the past and the people that left a bitter after taste. If more people were like that, well, the psychiatrists would be without help of their patients. She was brought back to an early thought and decided now would be a better time to inquire. “May I ask why information on the John Doe seemed important? Just natural curiosity?”
"Their own loss." She pointed out, including Vidia's mother. Here her father didn't have the time. Before he rarely had either. But things were different before. She didn't have memories implanted in her mind of being left alone day after day, calling out for parents that weren't there once her mother passed. "I'm the detective, when I don't know something, anything it's a hindrance to my job. So I make it a point to know everything I can that happens in this town. and I do a good job of it usually."
Never Rely On Fate || Lacey & Jefferson
"I beg your pardon, I’ve been dreadfully boring of late. I live a rather uneventful life. I’ll try to be more considerate in the future." He chuckled, leaning back and studying her. She was a hard one to crack, but he was determined to at least scratch the surface. He had always believed she was awake, but when he didn’t know her past life it was hard to ensnare them in a trap, and there was always the possibility he was wrong.
Jefferson rose a brow at her choice of words, further fortifying in his mind that she indeed held some sort of knowledge. He played this game often. Throwing out tacky puns and spinning riddles at others expense for his own amusement. It could be just a coincidence, but Jefferson was starting to believe otherwise. If, by chance, he was right, it seemed she was aware he was awake too. She was toying with him, a card he usually played. It was odd being on the receiving end. He almost forgot the reason for his visit, curious to how it would play out.
Yes, Absolem, right. “Even so, he could lose business, and some men hold pride close to their hearts. Abbott is one of them. Narcissistic little thing he can be. While your influence in the matter may be rather low, true love can work wonders. Perhaps you could convince him to let it go, or at least nudge him that way.” Of course, he didn’t expect her to do so unrewarded. Money didn’t seem to be an issue, though it wouldn’t hurt to offer. If, by chance, money wasn’t desirable he could always offer his services.. “While I can offer you money for such a favour, if money isn’t what you seek, I’d be in debt to you. You say you know facts about me, so then you know having me in your debt could be beneficial if ever the need arises. And in a town like this, there’s a high chance of that.” He leaned forward, speaking lower, “I don’t ask you to follow through until the end, only to try. Just a small nudge is all.”
"Thank you, much appreciated." She grinned widely at him, oh she was certain he would live up to that statement. Intentionally or not. After all, Lacey was fairly certain that his wife or daughter coming back into his life was going to prove rather interesting for the man. And she could tell, no matter that she couldn't see the future... they were too strong a family to keep apart with a curse. No matter what Jefferson seemed to think.
Lacey smiled innocently, pretending not to notice the ever so slight shift in his expression at her own words. She leaned back in her chair, oh how many people looked far too deeply into names the curse gave them. If anyone ever referred to her and her sisters by their last name it was far too easy to realize who they were before.
How many trios of women called The Fates could one know? Spelled different or not. (For the record, the answer is one.)
"I'm of the mind set he won't lose his business no matter how stubborn Mr.Solemn may be. But I'll speak with Carlyle, if only to save some time over a rather silly feud anyway. This town has enough quarrels with the mayor and miss Swan at each others throats." She sighed gently, that was all too true. "Perhaps you are right, True love may work it's magic, but I guarantee nothing. Carlyle is a rather stubborn man." She leaned forward and held out her hand. "You are not aware of my reputation if you believe me to need much help. But I shall not turn down and offer like that regardless." She smiled. "Never know when my repuation may turn against me I suppose." Well she did, technically since she doubted that would come without enough planning to alert Aisa, but she was still having too much fun toying with him to admit her advantages.
Let Fayte Guide You || Vannie & Lacey
Vannie absentmindedly started playing with the end to one of her shoe laces. It was frayed, but no where near in as rough of shape as the soles or tread of the sneakers. She always needed to keep busy, it helped keep her supposed ADHD at bay. And from the looks of it, if she kept relatively calm and polite, Lacey wouldn’t find a problem with her crashing into her office without an appointment or true reason of being there.
"Fake IDs?" she blinked slowly, lips pulling into a disappointed pout. "That’s all? That’s lame! I would’ve done something cool or at least worth the time in jail!" Her shoulders slouched for a split second before her posture corrected.
"I’m enrolled for the Fall, but I don’t know if I really want to go. I like school, some of it, but…." she shrugged her shoulders then grabbed the toes of her shoes. "Wait- … huh. That was a smart thing to do. When did you graduate high school?"
Lacey couldn't help but laugh. "I know, it was rather boring, but fake IDs can get you in a lot of trouble. But, I don't think it's worth jail over, which is why he hid it pretty well, don't you think?" She laughed, oh the boy was good she would admit. And he meant no harm, but she couldn't convict him if she wanted to considering the sheer lack of evidence she could fine.
And some how she doubted that I know what he's done. Just simply because she was herself wouldn't really fly. As much as she wished it would from time to time.
"You could always take a mechanics class if nothing else. Then you could fix your own cars when you're a famous racer, right?" She grinned. "I graduated Highschool when I was fifteen. I also started a bit of training to become a lawyer but never did the final tests... Smarts and Law run in my family." She shrugged.
Say What? || Vidia & Lacey
Vidia blinked slowly, trying not to show that Lacey spooked her. Even if she did know that she shocked Vidia, there wasn’t a thing Hilson could do about it. Those that knew about the ‘situation’ knew for a reason. She supposed they could be trusted. Just as long as the whole town didn’t know that her own mother didn’t love her, couldn’t even stand her actually. It was one thing to be snarky and cold, it was another to be seen as unloveable. “Either way, bravo,” she gave a weak half smile and crossed her arms. “What’s it like being stuck in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by idiots that don’t appreciate your true talent?”
"For what it's worth my father couldn't even be bothered to come and meet me and my sisters." She offered sadly, the pain very real, though the memories were not. She hated that such falsities could effect her so. She moved on subjects quickly, not wanting to dwell on her negligent parent any longer and slid a well preformed smile onto her lips and shrugged. "It doesn't bother me, those who matter to me know it. That's the important part." She almost laughed at how very much like her old self that sounded. After all, she thought quite highly of her fast flying talent.
Never Rely On Fate || Lacey & Jefferson
"Really?" he asked, looking at her curiously. Most didn’t seem to know he existed. He could hardly blame them, he hadn’t exactly been social these past decades. Those who did know him were either close, or thought him mad. The respect in her tone told him that wasn’t so. He’d usually chalk it up to some knowledge on their past lives, but seeing as she was a private eye.. it was hard to tell. "Hopefully nothing too bad, I hope." She was hard to read unlike most. He could usually pick small flaws and ticks in their armor, but the Faytes had always kept the shroud of mystery. That didn’t stop the flicker of tension catching Jefferson’s attention. Usually it would amuse him, but he found himself happy when it melded to calm in an instant.
"He could do with friends,” he replied, trying not to scoff a laugh at his friend’s expense. “Sadly, Abbott’s never been very good at making them.” Her kind words were not lost on him, and Jefferson returned the smile with his own. While the Faytes were odd and intimidating indeed, perhaps they’d make interesting company. Under better circumstances, of course. “I’m afraid Abbott may do something foolish, and attempt to fight fire with fire. Or do nothing, and lose his business. He’s been losing sleep, and I do worry for him. But he wont be the only casualty. It’s possible such a war will severely harm Mr Jones’ and Ms Desmond’s relationship. I can’t see any winners coming from this fight.”
"I know quite a lot about everyone in town, it's my job." She smiled looking back at him with a neutral sort of look, trying not to give away everything she knew. It was much more fun to play with him than allow him to be aware that we she knew. She always had fun toying with people, with those who knew and those who didn't. Vague hints that would leave them confused. "No, nothing too good either. Simple facts. Not leaving your house all that often leads for a rather dull file, I'm afraid." She shrugged a bit. Of course, his file for the other world, shoudl she make one would be quite interesting indeed.
"A curse that plagues many in this town." She said in such an off hand manner one wouldn't guess she was plaughing at her own little joke on the inside. "If he attempts to fight fire with fire then he is far more foolish than one would think. It will pass if he leaves it be, he won't lost his business they just wish to scare him as far as I know..." She wondered if there was new evidence that her ability wouldn't allow her to see quite yet. "What do you wish me to do about it?" She glanced down at her desk and shifted some papers before returning her gaze to Jefferson. She wasn't sure she could talk Carlyle out of it should she try. She didn't care enough about Abbott to begin an argument over him. So there was only so much she could do.
Sea of Books || Silena & Lacey
"I wouldn’t think that someone who’d be into law would be a rebel." She snorted. But then she wondered if Colette had any friends. It didn’t seem like it to be honest which made her kind of sad.
”Hm. I could say that’d kind of surprised me about Colette, but you’re all very nice people but I don’t see how that makes a difference.” She gave he a smile as she then collected her books. “Will you tell Carlyle that I- would like to see him again soon?” She was ready to depart, although wished she could stay longer to talk to Lacey.
"I think that's what makes her a terribly frightening lawyer. She knows the mindset of those she's up against quite well." She laughed. She wouldn't wish to be someone versing her sister in court. It would be something quite terrifying in court.
"You have not gotten on our bad sides, I assure you that we aren't always nice." She admitted with a slight smirk. No she certainly wasn't always nice and anyone who'd opposed her would find that out rather quickly. "I will gladly pass on the message. It was nice meeting you."
Say What? || Vidia & Lacey
No Hilson was one to take surprises well. Though her mother was the worse tempered, her father was barely better. They believed things happened for a reason and nothing should seem of a surprise. If something did actually happen in Storybrooke, truly life changing, Vidia would have one of the worst reactions. “You are correct. Vidia Hilson. I hear you’re the best in New England. My father’s friend tried to refer him to you to find m-… a missing person…a client. Very insignificant and not worth your time. He ended up finding them before the IRS threw him behind bars.”
"I know of the situation you speak of." She said simply, not elaborating. "I am the best in New England but only because the rest of the world hasn't heard of me." She winked. While it was true, she would be the best where ever she was, she had little chance to show it off since hse as forced to stay within the confides of Storybrooke. It was quite annoying but she managed regardless. That and it was sort of amusing to stay in Storybrooke now, to watch the chaos unfold. She had always been a fan of secrets getting out and watching what ensued.
Let Fayte Guide You || Vannie & Lacey
The detective now seemed starkly different from other adults. Even young, people older than her seemed boring or strung out. Seeing someone get excited about their work gave Vannie hope. She should do what she wants to do, not just follow the ‘guidelines’ and norm. When did she ever qualify as normal anyway?
Vannie couldn’t help to giggle at hearing about a plan backfiring. Cheating or trying to manipulating people didn’t work. (Unless you were the most feared individual within a ten mile radius.) She sort of bounced in her seat, pulling her legs up and sitting cross legged. Poor Lacey wasn’t getting rid of the demon any time soon. As long as she kept giving the teenager smiles to “feed” off of, and fun stories, she was happy.
"Huh…" she blinked and leaned back a little. "Did you end up finding the guy that was selling illegal stuff? Do you know what it was?" Her mouth hung open as though she was about to ask another question. She closed her mouth then leaned forward barely, hands on her ankles. "Did you have to go to college to become a detective?"
Lacey knew full well that sometimes manipulating people could work. She'd done so herself many, many times and she knew plenty of people who had as well. But of course that was because they knew what they were doing, they were smart about it and they didn't sure little petty details that had little to no impact to try to manipulate anyone.
She didn't mind Vannie as much as she originally thought she might considering the young girl's temperament usually. Not that Lacey disliked energy, it just wasn't something she could tolerate when used purely to annoy those around the source.
"I did, it was actually fake IDs. I don't believe they got him though. There was only so much evidence left by the time I found it. And i don't tihnk it was enough." She shrugged slightly. "No, but it's good to have some knowledge so it can help. but as long as you can meet the requirements for a licence you'l be able to do so. I did go to college however. Graduated at 18." Which, meant she'd been an investigator for 5 years already... well technically 28 but not everyone knew that. Vannie definitely did not.
Let Fayte Guide You || Vannie & Lacey
It was a good enough sign that she wasn’t being pushed out of the professional’s office. She no doubt was keeping Lacey from important matters or trying to find someone as a new client. Wait… that actually gave Vannie an idea. But would it be worth the time or money it probably required? All she really wanted was to spook Taylor Manning and get her to leave her alone. To be able to march on graduation without worrying whether or not people will ‘boo’ at her as she walked across the stage, no one should fear that. And yet this was her recent nightmare.
Vannie quickly blinked and paid better attention at the mention of comfy furniture and smiled.
"WOAH!" she jumped from her slouching and leaned forward, gawking. "That’s so cool though! But-…. but have you ever gotten caught by the person you’re tracking? Oh, when did you start working as a detective? And why’d you have to go undercover in an arcade?"
Lacey could basically see the younger girl drift off into thought. She didn't mind the distraction however, paperwork had never been a part of her job before. When she was a goddess her and her sister's word was law. And here in Storybrooke it basically was, but they still had to attempt to see somewhat normal. She hated doing the paperwork though... it was monotonous for her. Remembering each and every day of the 28 years here? Yeah it got a bit boring and she was happy to take a break.
"Rarely, but I have on occasion. I just made up and excuse, or in one case told her the truth and she ended up hiring me once her case was done... That was a fun one too. Backfired on the poor man..." She shrugged, she didn't like cheaters, it stung a bit too much even if the memories were false.
"Oh, I had to spy on the owner. He was suspected of selling illegal things in the back of the arcade... It wasn't him though, after a solid week of watching him." She'd known but had to play it safe and pretend like she was actually watching him... Well, that and she really did enjoy some of the games.
Sea of Books || Silena & Lacey
"Fear is our worst enemy, it makes chains and victims of us I think—" She considered it and she really thought doubt was worse than anything. Bravery helped you overcome. But doubt was the feeling if whether you should even do anything at all.
"I kind of noticed that; Colette seems like the girl who would like grunge. Aisa is a judge to it’d make sense." To be honest, Silena kind of liked it too but she tilted towards shorts and tights usually, or dresses. It was strange, her sisters were in different varying professions like modelling, while other other could be into cooking. While The Fayte’s seemed to tilt towards the law, all three of them.
"It is." She ran her hand through her hair. Fear was powerful, that much was true. She'd utilized it herself many times. Fate could be a cruel mistress, she also knew of course, that love was stronger than fear.
"That suits her, she's the youngest and likes to act like a rebel. Always has..." She laughed a bit. "Aisa is very proper, and I tend to be in between... it suits us I think." She liked her style, and while she lacked grunge, her style was more casual than Aisa's. They'd been close growing up, even in this world they were as close as could be. She had to give Regina's Curse credit, having them work with Law was quite brilliant.
