Small but sinisterâŠâŠ
natalie portman radiates such a terrifying energy i canât describe itâŠ.. itâs not exactly evil but itâs not warm eitherâŠ. i feel like she could unhinge her jaw and drag me into the ocean like a kraken but she wouldnât bc itâs undignifiedÂ
Wanna know why?
âOscar-winning actress Natalie Portman told the crowd at Saturdayâs Womenâs March in downtown Los Angeles that she experienced what she calls âsexual terrorismâ as a 13-year-old after the release of the film The Professional.
Portman described her pride and excitement in releasing the film, only to encounter sexually explicit messages both directed toward her and made about her.
âI excitedly opened my first fan mail to read a rape fantasy that a man had written me,â she recalled. âA countdown was started on my local radio show to my 18th birthday, euphemistically the date that I would be legal to sleep with. Movie reviewers talked about my budding breasts in reviews.â
The experience, she said, changed the way she expressed herself publicly, in order to limit the ways she could be objectified by others.
âI understood very quickly, even as a 13-year-old, that if I were to express myself sexually, I would feel unsafe,â she said. âAnd that men would feel entitled to discuss and objectify my body to my great discomfort. So I quickly adjusted my behavior. I rejected any role that even had a kissing scene and talked about that choice deliberately in interviews. I emphasized how bookish I was and how serious I was. And I cultivated an elegant way of dressing. I built a reputation for basically being prudish, conservative, nerdy, serious, in an attempt to feel that my body was safe and that my voice would be listened to.â

I support Natalie Portman unhinging her jaw and dragging every last man who made her feel this way into the deep like a kraken.

Scenes I need...
Peter Parker: -on meeting Loki, offers his hand- Hi, Iâm Peter!
Loki: -shakes his hand- Loki of Asgard.
Peter: Arenât you likeâŠa bad guy?
Loki: It varies from moment to moment.
Peter: So likeâŠon a scale of one to ten, ten being the worst evil imaginable, likeâŠkilling puppies, and one being Iâll spit on your hotdogâŠwhere are you right now?
Loki: âŠmaybe a three?
Peter: Cool. Lemme know if it gets above a six.
Loki: -thinking- I like him.
It had been a joke, a flippant line, but somehow, Loki found himself taking the youth up on it.
It was hard living around these heroic Avengers, hard trying to stay close to Thor. And when he felt his need for mischief rise too high, when he felt exasperation with these Midgardians turn too close to spite, he would casually say âSix.â to the young man, or sometimes âSeven.â
And Peter would spend the rest of his day with Loki. He would badger him with questions about magic, or drag him across his beloved city to see its entertainments, or take him along stopping petty crimes. He grounded Loki to the here and now, and distracted him from the churning, jagged shards of ice in his mind.
WE NEED LOKI AND PETER FICS
âBrother, why does young Parker have a gravity emulator ball?â
âWhy would I know?â
âBecause when I asked him, he said youâd told him it was a toy. Loki, thatâs a weapon of war.â
âAnd?â
âAre you trying to usurp Stark as the boyâs mentor?â
Loki looked up from his phone (when did he get one of those?) to take an obnoxious sip from his frappe.
âLook, heâs a smart kid. He can handle it. I really donât care about it that much.â
There was a loud bang from the other side of the room, and the brothers looked over to see Peter (and the couch) pinned to the ceiling, the gravity orb thauming angrily in midair.
âMr. Loki? Iâm uh. Iâm kind of stuck.â
Thor snorted and let a small tongue of lightning flick from his fingers to deactivate the orb, and everything crashed back to the floor. Loki shot up in his seat, peering over to see if the couch had crushed him.
âIâm okay!â Peter yelled
Thor stifled a laugh âYou donât care?â
âNot. A. Word.â Hissed Loki, already planning to stab his brother for the third time that week.
đđđ
AwwwwwwâŠ. Peter calling him Mr Loki is the cutest thing ever.
Me? Oversharing? Itâs more likely than youâd think.
In Lokiâs defense, heâs a Gemini and bi and thereâs really not much you can do with that chaotic energy but be likeâŠ.that
May the 10 of Pentacles bless your account with more money than you can spend. đ”âš

baby: *incomprehensible babbling*
me: WHAT!? really??? no way :0
This is actually really good for babiesâ brain development. Youâre laying the groundwork for conversation, teaching them through example that people take turns talking and listening.
Did you know that babies from affluent families hear an average of thirty MILLION more words before age 5 than babies in families below the poverty line? For context, Les Miserables is about 650,000 words and it looks like this:
So itâs like reading this book 46 times.* And thatâs not the total number of spoken words, thatâs the GAP between affluent and poor babies. And these are the years in which the brain undergoes the most development. Itâs mind-boggling.
So what Iâm saying is: keep doing the thing. Do it to all babies, all the time. Narrate your day. Ask them for opinions. (âShould we buy the large bag of potatoes or the small bag?â âGaabooglagje.â âYes, just as I thought.â) Point out colors and shapes and letters. Let them scribble outside the lines and treat their babble like talk. Sing them nursery rhymes and Raffi songs and songs from the radio. All of these things are going to build their brains to prepare them for kindergarten and beyond.
*Please do not read Les Mis 46 times to an infant. They donât even care about the Parisian sewer system.
That last part though
The âword gapâ is a major problem in schools with low income levels. We often have 7th and 8th graders come to us with 1st or 2nd grade reading levels. Itâs not really anyoneâs FAULT, its just that all the adults in the family are working multiple jobs and who has money for books or time for trips to the library? The word gap is the achievement gap. ( https://www.npr.org/2013/12/29/257922222/closing-the-word-gap-between-rich-and-poor )
Read to kids. Talk to kids. Let them talk to you. As much as you can, as often as you can. Kids need to read and be read to and talked to and listened to. Its critical for their development.
Okay but can I still read les mis to them?
