Okay, okay, hear me out. Bree Tanner except she survives and Jacob ends up with her instead 👀 I’m actually a big fan of the idea. She’s got one human eye and one vampire eye and is considered real weak for a vampire but she makes up for it with tenacity. Also I just think she’s cute!

Smeyer really made us read about Bella's human friends for four books and did NOTHING with them. Make Jessica one of the "bear attack" victims in New Moon. Make Mike the one Victoria changes because he knows the area AND he knows Bella better than some random kid from Seattle. Make Tyler be the hiker Bella almost kills on her first hunt or even make Angela be the victim of one of Carlisle's friends who slip up and hunt too close to the area. Make the humans MEAN something besides being just chapter fodder. Give me suspense. Give me a reason to care about big sister Angela or daughter of town's gossip Jessica.

If they do a twilight series I kind of hope they really lean into the horror aspect of it - I rewatched twilight yesterday for the first time in years and I loved it but I kinda wish they played more into certain aspects. Like why wasn't Bella allowed friends? They alluded to some emotional pain in that scene when they flee forks and she catches a glimpse of them and it seemed like a semi wistful moment? And like, they were funny and nice though imperfect people and a lot of them liked her and there's no real sense of sacrifice to what she has to give up to have a life with Edward. I feel like everyone tells her all the time but she's like naaaah it's fine! I know it's a character trait that she's introverted and feels a little awkward around people but she can still want to be a vampire and connect with others and feel some turmoil!
