Which of the following moments in British politics was funniest?
David Cameron allegedly fucking a pig (2015)
Theresa May Brexit deal sees worst parliamentary defeat of any British PM (2019)
Dominic Cummings' social distancing scandal is named #Cumgate (2021)
Matt "Eat Out to Help Out" Hancock caught having affair with his aide (2021)
MP resignations reach critical mass under Boris Johnson (2022)
The Queen dies 2 days after meeting Liz Truss (2022)
Liz Truss who doesn't outlast head of lettuce (2022)
Nigel Farage has to run in by-election against Count Binhead (2026)
I'm American and I never read news from outside of my country
Something else entirely (I'll tell you in the tags)
Note: don't let your recency bias decide this, actually think back to what was the objectively funniest time on the internet.
I honestly think Gen-Z and younger simply does not understand how recent widespread smartphone adoption is.
I am not that old, and I didn't have a smartphone until probably late high school. For most of my life, many if not most people were not walking around with a magic internet machine in their pocket that they pulled out and used constantly for everything.
reblog if you remember having to ration your text messages and accidentally opening the internet on your phone was the end of the world
How old were you when you got your first smartphone?
Younger than 10
10-13
13-16
17-20
21-25
26-30
31-40
41-50
51-60
Older than 60
Never had a smartphone
The 'hyperspecific situations' polls are really once again highlighting that native English speakers tend to forget that 'foreign' doesn't mean 'non-English' or 'non-American'
"Did you watch a foreign language movie in the past three days?" Yeah I watched the foreign movie "The Martian" with foreign actor Matt Damon
Op why would you hide this is the tags
[Image ID: Tumblr tag reading: 'Do you speak a foreign language?' Yeah yours /End ID]
HEARTSTOPPER FOREVER (2026)
I'm glad that the physical realities of Leeds Railway Station were acknowledged and we had to watch Charlie exit the ticket barriers before they could embrace :P
Although they did still cut out the part where Charlie gets lost because Leeds station is a hellscape.
Harris: You're impossibly fast, and strong. Your skin is pale white and ice cold. Sometimes you speak like— like you're from a different time. You never eat or drink anything except what’s on your meal plan. You don't go out in the sunlight. I know what you are.
Troy: Say it. Out loud. Say it.
Harris: Closeted hockey player.
“This is the skin of a mid left winger, Harris!” - Troy the first time he takes his shirt off and Harris compliments his abs.
Least believable thing in this film is that there were THAT MANY packs of photos awaiting pickup at this photo printing shop in 2025/6.
Also that this appeared to be exclusively a photo shop and not also a cobblers and key cutters and engravers and dry cleaners...
Derek Jacobi has... aged more than I anticipated since I last saw him in anything?
Though I guess the last thing I saw him in would probably have been Vicious over a decade ago, so it DOES make sense.
The biggest sign of the passage of time in Heartstopper Forever is that Nick's playing Mario Kart World.
Shane getting criticized for not using pride tape and he’s caught on a mic later that week saying I didn’t realize it wasn’t the sucking dick that made me gay but the rainbow . Which is how he comes out.
@persimmony-snicket EXACTLYYYY
Got about 50 minutes in before suddenly fully realising that adapting Nick & Charlie means this is going to hurt (:
"Hi mum"
"Hi Sarah"
I was wondering how they were going to handle it. Somewhat surprised that the first time we see her is at the hospital like this where it actually NEEDS clarifying, instead of at home where it COULD be left implied.
But nope, we have to be VERY deliberate to clarify that this is Sarah Nelson :P
Sure, Heartstopper Forever is rated 15, but what they DIDN'T say in that rating is that it should have a recommended maximum age of 17 in the UK.
Anyone over 17 will die from a combination of first-hand and second-hand embarrassment as well as stress memories... all from watching Nick write his UCAS personal statement.
I have a question
who would you vote for in the Clacton bi election.
Count binface
Nigel farage
@spence-does-life @nightwingdickrider
You obviously do not have to be a UK or Clacton citizen to do this poll it's not the actual bi election.
I just want to see what the world thinks
Please reblog
I forgot Imogen in 2x01 was so clearly giving Nick a space to come out to her.
I genuinely think Imogen's biggest crime in the series is being a 15/16-year-old girl. She's well-meaning, she's just bumbling her way through because, again, she's 16.
I think the thing is Imogen's overall awkwardness and bumbling nature makes her... extremely relatable.
I am somewhere between Charlie and Imogen on the social interaction spectrum :P
