The Witch's Lodge: Morning Notes vs Afternoon Tea

The alternate lighting scene of the witch's lodge layout! To contrast the dreamier, warmer afternoon version, I brought down the lighting and temperature to make it moodier and quieter. I wanted Nicole to blend in with the background rather than become the central focus and gave everything more of a blue-ish/purple tinge. Which version do you prefer?

I painted a layout to test out different lighting scenes and this is the "afternoon" version. I wanted it to be warm and very dreamy with magical-looking dust particles. Hopefully, It'll contrast the more cool tones I'm planning for the morning scene. Part two will be coming soon!

The Voiceless Angel | The Silent Witch I was inspired by Studio FLiiiP's animated teaser, "Nicole: The Silenced Golden Strings" they made for Genshin's release of Nicole. Absolutely loved the Gothic look and the old school animation style that reminded me a bit of Angel's Egg in the beginning.

The Workspaces of TotK: Princess Zelda's Secret Well Zelda in her lofi era 🎧 Been a long time coming to make a few Tears of the Kingdom/Breath of the Wild fanart and hopefully a few more to come! I'd love to focus on workshops/workspaces in the games, so I'm looking at Purah's Lookout Landing lab and the makeshift space under the fallen ruin in Kakariko village for the next ones!

Costume Analysis Part II: Kahekili This is my second set of illustrations breaking down some of the costume designs in Chief of War. For these drawings, I wanted to look into the construction of the 'ali'i's (Hawaiian nobility) 'ahu 'ula (full-length feather cloak) and the specific kākau (traditional hand-tapped tattoos) patterns depicted on Kahekili in the show. My previous illustrations of the costumes were done on some of Ka'ahumanu's gorgeous pāʻū (traditional Hawaiian skirts/gowns). A couple of pages from my sketchbook looking into details of Ka'ahumanu's costume designs from Chief of War by costume designer, Caroline Eselin. Ka'ahumanu's regal costumes have specifically been so eye-catching and gorgeous to me - especially the pleats, folds, and bows that seem to grow with each episode. I did a little research behind elements of the traditional Hawaiian garments and adornments because I was so curious about the origins/design/meaning behind each piece. Nothing too deep in the notes - moreso just identification of items and materials that could fit on the page. Can't wait to see more costumes and hopefully I'll be able to sketch out more of the designs and get into the details/symbols!

Character exploration based on a legendary warrior princess, "Princess Urduja"

Inspired by a tragic story from Filipino folklore called, “The Legend of Alitaptap.” It tells the story of the valley of Pinak in Central Luzon, where the people who lived in harmony with the land suddenly found their lush valley dried up and barren. The people of Pinak prayed to Bathala for the rains to return and give life back to the valley. Bathala answered their prayers and sent Bulan-hari who descended from the skies in a chariot of gold with his wife Bitu-in. The rains returned and once again, and the valley flourished with food and life. Bulan-hari and Bitu-in decided to live amongst the people and had a beautiful daughter named “Alitaptap,” after the bright, sparkling star on her forehead. While all the men of Pinak fell in love with Alitaptap, she was unable to love or know of love, for she was not human and therefore her heart was as cold and hard as the sparkling star on her forehead. One day, an old wise woman from the mountains brought grave news: ruin and sorrow was to come to the valley for warriors from the land of La-ut would ride in on their mighty horses and conquer their people, destroy their crops, and poison their lake. The only solution was for Alitaptap to bear a son, for he alone could lead their people and keep peace in the valley. Bulan-hari asked Alitaptap to pick a young man to marry, but Alitaptap was silent for her stone heart did not understand. In desperation, Bulan-hari gripped his sword and demanded from Alitaptap to obey him or find herself dead. Alitaptap remained silent. Fearing the dark future foretold, Bulan-hari drew his sword and struck the star on Alitaptap’s forehead! The star burst and darkness enveloped the hall. The chips from the shattered star began to glitter and light the room, revealing the body of the dead Alitaptap. Soon after, the warriors from La-ut pillaged the land. The beautiful valley had transformed into a swamp and its people were gone. The only thing that remained were the fragments from Alitaptap’s star, which became fireflies lighting up the starless nights.

Close-ups from my Huntr/x fanart! My favorite detail is the shift in Rumi's expression and eyes depending on which side you view her from. I had the most difficulty with capturing Mira, but I love her sharp features and little makeup details. And for Zoey, I really love the shapes/flow in her drawing - it's the simplest but overall my favorite.
