For the colour collective challenge this week. My Neighbor Totoro is one of my favorite movies, and it’s about time I put my own spin on it. About 4 hours.
Warm up for today. Theme was “Label” so I made a beer label. Of course I did. Around an hour.
Warm up sketch before today’s work starts. Theme was Simon and Garfunkal and I thought the titles of their songs was a good jumping off point. Here’s the Sound of Silence. About 45 minutes.
Been a while since an update. Here’s a portrait as a hotdog for reddit’s sketchdaily. About 45 min.
experimenting with backgrounds and texture.
After a long day, celebrating that they’re almost home.
This took a lot less time than usual. I did a basic value painting and laid shadows and two layers of color set to soft light. I like doing it this way as it fits with all the watercolor painting I used to do. Even turning off the lines, it looks like a watercolor to my eye. Fun to paint as I don’t usually do cityscapes.
Dad’s waiting for his turn at the barber shop.
A Rapunzel sketch to start the day off just right!
A villainous mermaid.
The scary story!
The Little Rusty Knight. This was really challenging and fun!
A bunny burglar stealing the jeweled egg of Ahen-Clucks. Happy Easter everyone!
A wheat mage. They make wheat!
The mint chocolate-chip mountain climber!
Mountains somewhere in France.
A Sky Pirate! For the weekly colour collective challenge, this one being bluebell. Really enjoyed making this as it was challenging, especially that wheel!
