"But what if people will pretend to need this accessibility option so they can be lazy! People who don't need it will use it!!" I don't actually care
I dont care if 9/10 of the people who use the wheelchair ramp arent actually in wheelchairs. As long as the 1 person who needs it has access to it.
I dont care if 9/10 people who use the automatic push button on the library door can actually push the door open themselves. As long as the 1 person who the door is too heavy for gets to use it.
I dont care if 9/10 people who buy the can tab opener, or the little guitar clamp that holds the chords for you, or the hand grip that helps you hold chop sticks, don't need any of it and just get it to "be lazy". As long as the one disabled person who needs it gets access to it.
I do not care. Oh my GOD I do not care. As long as there's a disabled person on this planet who the accessibility device will benefit, the accessibility device is necessary.
Also, if you're so worried about people being "lazy" by using accessibility devices, MORE worried than you are about disabled (visibly or not) people not having access to them, you have unchecked ableism you need to work through.
And given that we live in an era (debatably) post covid, there is a significant percentage of the population who are newly disabled with conditions like chronic fatigue and may be genuinely unaware of it! How many of those "lazy" people are actually invisibly disabled? And even beyond that, how many of those "lazy" people are overworked and tired and ground down to dust by capitalism? How many are new parents who aren't getting enough sleep and are exhausted?
If helping disabled people helps more than just disabled people, why is that a DOWNSIDE.
!!!!!!!
and if you don’t agree go choke and argue with ya mama .
Hey, how have things been going for you lately?
Things have been going pretty well! I am now 20 weeks along and little man is looking perfectly healthy 😊 thank you for asking 🩷
everybody needs to read more. read all the time. read every day. read read read
I'M BACK! I've missed this space and you people 😊
Long story short, I was in an unhealthy relationship and he convinced me to cut some people and things out of my life that he didn't trust because of his own issues. It has been a rough 6-7 months for me but I think things are finally starting to look up! He and I are not in contact right now because I cannot and will not allow him to continue treating me the way he has been. He has not been physically abusive but I am able to see now that he is mentally, emotionally, and verbally abusive, as well as narcissistic and manipulative. I deserve better and I will have better for myself. The only good thing that has come out of this relationship with him is that...
I'm pregnant! Regardless of my relationship with the father and the terms that we are on right now, I am extremely excited!! I'm 16 weeks along now, and having a little boy 🥰🩵 he is due in September.
My family and the father's family are overwhelmingly excited and supportive of me and the baby. My parents are ecstatic to become grandparents and my adopted sister is happy to become an aunt again. I have an amazing support system and I can't wait for little man to be here, but of course I am having a lot of anxiety and worries. I know we will be okay though 🥰
I'm glad to be back here ❤️
Date someone who naturally brings out your inner child, makes you laugh, never stops flirting with you, and loves you a little extra on the days you don't feel so loveable.
I’m so wifeable
I am completely and utterly normal about rivers, creeks, lakes, forests, ponds, hills, mountains, and other natural landscapes (lying)
But what if… things work out, nothing bad happens, your hard work pays off, you get through this and prove yourself
here's a funny conversation topic i had a with a friend: if you're over the age of 25, when's the last time you really *ran* in a panic (like you were late, chasing after something, etc. things like a marathon don't count!) and what was it for?
No, I did not miss my train. It looked ugly so I chased it out of the station.
With a huge travel backpack, Sprinted to my train - which was already finished boarding, and apparently had arrived at the station like 10 minutes early – only to have the conductor tell me I was fine because we couldn’t leave for another seven minutes anyway.
😒😒😒
2 days ago, at work as a nurse, one of my patients climbed out of bed, over the side rail, and was pulling at all his tubes and wires (catheter, port access, etc)! I didn't even think he could walk! I RAN to his room, even though it was only about 30 feet
i like working at plant store. sometimes you ring up someone and there's a slug on their plant and so you're like "Oh haha you've got a friend there let me get that for you" and you put the slug on your hand for safekeeping but then its really busy and you dont have time to take the slug outside before the next customer in line so you just have a slug chilling on your hand for 15 minutes. really makes you feel at peace with nature. also it means sometimes i get to say my favorite line which is "would you like this free slug with your purchase"
@holyknuckled you get it. lterally what are we here on earth for if not to occasionally impose gastropods upon unsuspecting customers. this story is delightful
@holyknuckled like that?
oh? my god???
yeah, Exactly like that
