Beach Buns?

I've been seeing a lot of instagram posts where people have taken their rabbits to beaches on harnesses. Personally I feel this puts them at serious health risks (sand in eyes and ears, eating things they shouldn't, and not to mention picking up disease from how dirty sand actually is) and we won't even go on to my opinion about the use of harnesses!

Which brings me to ask you guys- would you take your bun to the beach or would you consider it too risky? Lets have a friendly discussion!

I kind of want to start a youtube channel for my buns (amongst other things) but I’m so awkward in front of a camera and I don’t think anyone would even watch them lolol

Update

It was very touch and go last night, all Pickles could do was just lie there. We were all super emotional. Had a rough nights sleep and came down this morning fearing he'd got worse, but he'd ripped the bandage off his ear, groomed all the liquid feed off himself and was tucking into kale and hay! Since then he's been on and off munching, had a few poops(!) And also hoovered up some water soaked dandilion leaves!

Pickles.

As I type this, my eyes are streaming with tears. My beautiful Pickle-bunny is very sick. He has a severe case of stasis which I discovered yesterday after he only ate one dandilion leaf. The vet thinks it was due to his poor start in life and the diet of toast his previous family gave him which have since caused a very sensitive tummy. Since then, he’s been to the vets twice, once for metacam and gut injections, and again today for 8 hours of fluids via a catheter in his ear. They’ve been syringing him recovery food, and now he’s lying under a blanket on my kitchen floor. He hasn’t moved for 2 hours, and is refusing all liquid food and medicine i attempt to syringe. 

I’m so worried. I haven’t stopped crying since I got home.

TW: Ableism

I’m going to be real here for a minute. 

I WAS part of a bunny care group on Facebook, but was slowly coming to realise that literally everything anyone posted got put down because it wasn’t the ‘perfect’ set up that certain people had. Today, someone posted about water bowls, but everyone started jumping on her about why she used sawdust instead of other bedding. I mentioned that maybe she has certain situations which mean she cant get to a place that sells ‘perfect’ supplies?  

People started jumping on me then, saying there’s no excuse for using shavings, and WHY can’t she go somewhere. I mentioned that maybe chronic illness/family situations etc were a factor? Maybe, like me, she can’t get to places because of a disability?    

Suddenly, I was getting about 5 people all commenting at me asking if my disability was ‘being unable to read’. I found this offensive, and so told them that no, i understand perfectly, my disorder is of a connective tissue nature and was just making an example of why someone may not be able to get out. 

These people then started on me in full force- laughing emojis, swearing, saying that i used disability to ‘make them feel small’ and that i was basically saying ‘shut up I’m right because I’m disabled’  which wasn’t the case AT ALL. 

I have obviously left the group now, I don’t need strangers laughing at me. But it left me in tears, hyperventilating with anxiety, feeling like the ‘bad guy disabled person’.  

People with disabilities never use it to make others feel small. it’s not our fault if our conditions make YOU uncomfortable. it’s our reality and we’re just trying to live our lives without people turning it around on us. it’s 2017 for fucks sake, i can’t believe people like this still exist.
