Her full name is Elisabeth! Sheâs a 15 year old girl who is actually a triplet! (Iâm debating drawing her and her siblings all together). Her father is in the military, her mother a woman with some coin because of her familyâs business. Eli is a loud, snarky, strong girl but falls to the same whims every teenage girl does from a specific groupâŚMySpace. She loves updating her blog and being intune with the latest trends the scene kids are posting- sheâs racked a pretty decent following from it. But besides that, she plays a lot of video games and when forced to part with them to go to Bullworth invested in a psp that she carries around like itâs the best thing ever in life. A true 2000s kid.
But also in this post I want to explore her dynamics with each clique since I feel like for some (such as preps) it can come as a surprise or like âoh main character syndrome â when it has a reason.
Eli absolutely despises bullies. This is one of the many reasons why none of her rep. are fully at 100%, because like Jimmy, Eli canât stand when people believe themselves to be to be better than or over groups of people- especially defenseless people. She has taken a heavy dislike for Russell but canât help but pity him and his group. If Eli has to interact with them sheâll keep their conversation brief and wonât go down without a fight if she or someone she deems to weak to stand up for themselves targeted. But her main gripe with this group is Wade Martian, the two absolutely despise each-other and canât be left alone in the same room unless someone wants to come back to an all out brawl.
Eli doesnât respect their massive ego, what she does respect is their work ethic. They might not be the smartest, but guys like Ted or Casey sure work for what they want. While also maintaining a good relationship via her brother who is a jock, Eliâs main interactions with them are during gym or practice where she plays with them or brings them small things like water. Eli plays a lot of sports so she understands the means to getting to that point of being that good, but that, again, doesnât mean she doesnât criticize Ted or Mandy for how they treat the people around them. If you have the strength and power- why torment those weaker for an ego boost? Youâre already good enough.
Mainly sticking with them because truth be told, theyâre the only people who sorta dig her vibe. Eli loves talking hair with Vance or trying (very unsuccessfully) how to fix up her own bike with Peanut. In a way, Eli views the greasers as an escape from snobbish behavior but also sees how they behavior with others. Eli becomes complacent because theyâre her friends and wants the best for them- seeing them as family. But her rep isnât fully at 100 because of her ties to the preps and how she backs down from fighting on behalf of Johnny or the gang. Their issues are their issues, not hers. And while she wonât admit it, them being Italian attracts her to them because they can understand her in some ways since their cultures align even if it is slightly (Sheâs Mexican). A complicated relationship.
She doesnât talk to the townies as much but she has a well enough relationship with them because of her friendship with Zoe Taylor. Sometimes, during the weekends, she hangs out with them just to get away from Bullworth, but theyâre not really her people. Theyâre not horrible people, she notes, but through her fatherâs military history, Eli deeply values education- a topic where they are both divided on.
If the greasers were a complicated thing, then this is why. Because of her sisters standing in the group, Eli has been on many occasions forced to interact with the group. She hates being reminded that between her sister and her, that Eli will always fall short. Her sister, Griselda, is much more fashionable and chic where Eli is more rugged and in tune with MySpace culture. Pinky even once commented that Eli must call herself that cause she was supposed to be a guy with the way she behaves so manly. But the one thing both groups can agree on is: boxing. Eli is one hell of a boxer and where her words donât mean much to the preps- her fist do. In some weird way, she uses boxing to vent out her anger towards the preps through the excuse of it was âjust a match.â Sheâs even beaten Chad once because a comment he made really ticked her off. They begrudgingly respect her for it and because Griselda tells them to back off of her sister every once in a while.
Truly, the only reason why the nerds and Eli talk are because of grades and strength. Eli doesnât go out of her way to defend them, but she doesnât sit by and lets them get beaten. Thatâs gained some underlying respect between the group and her. Not to mention, they respect her work ethic, her grades arenât as sparkly as theirs, but theyâre really good for someone they view as below them on the academic field.
