90% of my life is me making an irritated looking face
HUMANS 2x2
▫️ a kiss on the forehead
Send one for a kiss from my muse.|| @bestaimind
Jeri carefully let herself into Athena’s hotel room. It was late and she had been out to a function with Milo, trying to gather more funds for Qualia’s research and secure the legality of their work. Jeri closed the door behind her and looked around in the dimly lit hotel room. She smiled as she spotted Athena asleep on the bed. Fully dressed, still on top of the covered and with one hand reached out towards her tablet. Jeri wondered whether she had been talking to V when she had fallen asleep. She stepped closer and reached in, carefully brushing Athena’s hair out of her face, before she removed her glasses. After placing the gasses on the night stand, Jeri leaned in and kissed Athena’s forehead tenderly. “Time to undress and go to bed, dear.”
As her glasses came off, Athena woke feeling groggy and confused, though familiar lips on her forehead immediately put her at ease. She still didn't understand how Jeri was suddenly right there when V had been in the middle of describing a starry sky to only Athena mere seconds ago. It had sounded exactly like the one they’d spent hours gazing at, naming as much they could, on their last camping trip… She must have dozed off. With great effort and a big yawn, the semiconscious woman sat up. She stretched her arms towards the ceiling and landed them loosely around Jeri’s neck, leaning in to give her a proper kiss hello. “Did you just get back?” she asked, her voice thick with sleep. “What time is it?”

Beth sighed. Athena was going to make this easy. “Look, I don’t care about Qualia.” She paused. “I mean, I do. Milo is a little shit, but that’s beside the point.” Elizabeth poured herself a cup of tea. “Service Synths needs something big. We cracked the European market after we started 3D printing, everyone love realism. I want to take that a step further. I’m tired of making walking talking smartphones. I want to make something that’s meaningful.” She took a long drink from her cup. Beth was taking a massive risk here, but if it worked it would all be worth it. “Have you ever considered what it would be like to bring someone back from the dead? I mean, what if you could have dear ole’ granddad around for another few years?” She frowned. “That’s a little ambitious, I guess. But, even just a live-in nurse that actually has a shred of human compassion, you know? People want to feel loved. I want to give them that.”
Athena barely held back an amused snort. She was listening now—and not just because Elizabeth seemed to find Milo about as disappointing as she did. Service Synthetics checked off all her imaginary boxes. The ideas were meaningful and pure, aligning perfectly with her own ambitions. “What if it wasn’t too ambitious? Hypothetically,” she added evenly. She could never be too careful. “If I told you I could bring people back, what would you do with that information?”

〰 a kiss on the chest
Send one for a kiss from my muse. || @bestaimind
After the events in New York, Jeri Hogarth hadn’t expected to find herself in a new relationship. But waking up, head resting against Doctor Athena Morrow’s chest was heaven. Jeri shifted enough to press a kiss against Athena’s chest, before she moved up to the pillow and wrapped her arm around Athena’s waist.
A sleepy smile spread across Athena’s face before her eyes were even ready to open. The next time she wondered how Jeri had so effortlessly made a place for herself in Athena’s bed and in her heart, she would remember waking up to warm lips on her chest, arms wrapped around each other. She turned her head to take in the beautiful woman beside her. “Did you sleep well?” she asked, caressing Jeri’s side.
“Hey, open the damn door!” - @misshogarth
MEME.
Athena’s phone was off and she’d been ignoring the knocks, hoping that whoever it was would take the hint. In retrospect, she should have known it was Jeri. She also should have called her hours ago instead of curling up in bed alone with her thoughts.
But after her day, she wasn’t thinking properly. A synthetic had killed two people right in front of her, trying to get to her and kill her. If that wasn’t terrible enough, she’d lost her daughter for the second time. Ginny was truly gone. Although, she supposed Ginny had been gone for a long time and this pain was her finally accepting the loss.
She rushed to the door before Jeri could break it down, feeling lighter as soon as she saw her standing there. “Sorry,” she said, smiling apologetically. “I didn’t know it was you. I didn’t want to see anyone else.”
“ I know how that head of yours works. ” - @misshogarth
MEME.
Athena’s eyes didn’t leave her screen. Fingers flew across the keys as she gave a response carefully constructed to sound absentminded. Anything to steer the conversation away from the inner workings of her mind. “If you’re thinking billions of nerves cells, you got it.”
misshogarth:
“I try,” Jeri said at the praise. She hadn’t always been strong, but her strength had returned slowly and build her stronger than she was before. She listened to Athena’s tale, while eating her salad. Athena’s story was a happy one, but behind the words Jeri found happiness, even love. A daughter. “People wake up from comas,” she said softly as Athena fell quiet again. “Tell me more about your daughter?”
Gratitude filled Athena’s face as she nodded. It had been a long time since anyone had shared her hope. Maybe Ginny’s doctors and Gil were right. Maybe her little girl wouldn’t wake up, and she had a plan for that. But she could. Why would they want to take that chance away, no matter how small? “She’s…” Always present tense, never past. “She’s amazing. I know every parent says that, but she really is. Completely different from me. She used to spend as much time outside as she could. Hiking. Swimming. Everything. She showed me things I never would have seen without her.”
Oof!
Send me an “Oof!” To pin my Muse to the bed. || @bestaimind
“Oof!” Jeri exclaimed in surprise as Athena grabbed her wrists and pinned her to the bed. It was followed by a grin as she felt Athena settle on top of her, straddling her waist. “Took you long enough,” she teased and leaned up enough to press her lips against Athena’s.
Jeri’s perfect reaction to being caught off guard shot a thrill through Athena like a jolt of electricity. A devilish smile spread across her face and with her hands still clasped around Jeri’s wrists, she met her lips. “Mmm,” she hummed when they’d parted, trailing kisses along her jaw. “I’ll make it up to you.”
“Blood? Are you bleeding?”
RP starters: Concern || @bestaimind
“Minor accident, dear.” Jeri reassured Athena as she kept her hand under the cold tap. “I was chopping vegetables for dinner and the knife slipped when I was cutting into the onion,” she explained and offered Athena a soft smile. “Will you take a look at it?”
misshogarth:
Jeri sat still, watching as Athena cleaned up the cut on her hand. She stayed quiet, but closed her eyes, leaning into Athena’s hand on her cheek. “You’re not that kind of doctor either,” she said fondly, before opening her eyes to look at Athena again. “I’m all right,” Jeri said quietly and reached up, placing her hand over Athena’s, keeping it close for another moment, before she wrapped her fingers around hers and lowered their hands, simply holding Athena’s hand for a moment. “I’m all right,” she repeated and offered Athena a soft smile.
Her chest heavy with emotion, Athena watched Jeri’s eyes close as she leaned into Athena’s touch. Jeri’s resilient ability to be tender and trusting despite her trauma was astounding. Being the one to receive it was even more so. “I’m your doctor. First aid, therapy, holistic yoga—” She grinned. They both knew she didn’t know a damn thing about the latter. “Anything you need, I’m here.” And she was going to start by dressing this kitchen battle wound of hers. She peeked under the cloth, immediately putting it aside. The bleeding had slowed to practically nothing. She gave Jeri’s hand a comforting squeeze, then let it go to continue working. Gentle fingers spread an antibiotic ointment over the wound and bandaged her up. When she finished, she gingerly took the injured hand in her own. “There. You’ll be on the mend in no time.”

“ all i’m interested in is getting out of here.”
“ it’s not a compliment.”
“ how do i get to the end?”
“ look, you’re just gonna have to trust me.”
“ trust you?”
“ keep your voice down.”

“ actually, you might be the only person that could help me.”
“ it’s really none of your business.”
“ you realize that we both might die today, right?”
“ i’m not leaving you here.”
“ there’s gotta be something else.”
“ you’ll do what i say, or things will get messy.”
“ really? after all we’ve been through today, you have to think about it?”
“ not everyone here has to die.”
“ it’s gonna be okay.”
“ fair warning though, it has a sad ending.”
“ now… i’m out of patience!”
“ lies! deceit! the story you tell is incomplete.”
“ liar!”
“ that’s right. me. i’m the one you want. so, keep me, but let them go.”
“ you’re trying to confuse me. but i won’t let you.”
“ i’m determined that you will live on and suffer as i have.”
“ i’ll make it easy for you. on the count of three, tell me who to kill. or i’ll shoot both of them, which would be such a thrill!”
“ all this time, you made everyone believe you were the hero, but deep down, you always knew the truth.”
“ you’re a villain.”
“ impossible to pick the perfect bottle, isn’t it?”
“ um, i’m sorry to bother you; i don’t usually talk to people. there’s just, um, something about you…”
“ no, no, please, there’s… there’s no need to apologize.”
“ you just… you remind me of someone that i used to know. a long time ago.”
“ why didn’t you come to me?”
“ and i thought i could save them both.”
“ you did what you thought was right.”
