Introducing     ——————————  André Beaumont

 Native  to  Prism  Falls,  André  is  the  owner  of Black Diamon Brewers  and  resides  in  Amethyst  Arbor. He is 31 years old and is represented by Fabien Frankel. Affiliated with Prim Falls HQ. Private.

He hates is there and doesn't try to hide it. Raised as an aristrocat, André wanted to leave Prism Falls as soon as he was old enough to understand how boring life there could be, how limited people could get. So he was more than happy to study abroad when the oportunity came and would have had a good, even happy, life if it hadn't been for the sudden death of his parents and the attack on his house, to where no culprit was ever found.

Now... he was there, stuck with a family business he had no desire to run, but did anyway out of duty, and a mystery that wasn't nowhere of being solved. If that wasn't enough, he had his own problems dealing with the lack of interest on others from the Valey and the fact he had sudden outbursts of rage that left him dangerous to be around people.

Now days he spends his day mostly keeping things in check at the Black Diamond Brewers and tending to his garden at home. Other few instances where André can be seen in public would be at the local library and at the meetings of Ashcroft Society (that he despises too but is trying to use his position to do at least some good).

⸻        ･ﾟ                 ♱               he  snorted—  couldn’t  help  it,  really.    “    quiet  is  one  way  to  put  it,    ”    he  acknowledged,  raising  an  eyebrow  as  he  gulped  down  his  drink.  infuriating,  restrictive,  maddening,  despairing  were  words  he found much more  suitable.  yet  malachi  still  called  prism falls  home  through  gritted  teeth  and a broken heart as  that’s  what  his  mother  would’ve  wanted for him;  the  ghost  of  her  presence still lingering, chaining him down.    “   it  has  crossed  my  mind  once  or  twice.    ”    a  lie—  he  pondered  over  the  prospect  of  a  new  life  daily.    “    though  no  one  in  town  seems  to  agree  on  what  lies  beyond  the  valley.  there’s  no  place  for  me  to  go.    ”    he  hadn’t  known  of  anyone  who  had  left  and  didn’t  eventually return.  sure,  they  shared  grand  tales  of  foreign  lands  and  wild  adventures,  and somehow something had pulled them back.  it  left  him  discouraged and defeated,  unwilling  to  suffer  through  the  humiliation  of  leaving  all  he’s  ever  known—  no  matter  how  dreadful  the alternative.    “    one  day  i  will  leave,  i’m certain  of  it.  my options here are running out... i'd advise you to do the same.    ”

— Trust me, I wouldn't have returned to this place if I had a choice. — André replied. Maybe he shouldn't be so open about his distaste for this place, he knew his mother would have hated to hear that, but he couldn't help himself. The man was honest about his feelings and wouldn't hide them. But still... there he was. Still stuck there.

Someone needed to take care of his family's affairs. At least the Pub kept his mind elsewhere even if for only a few hours.

— I'm sure there might be, the world is big and there is a place for everyone. If you don't have anything tieing you to this place, you should go. Or just stay here sulking and drinking your worries away. Frankly I don't care about the outcome as long as there isn't much trouble on my doorstep.

her mother would have pestered her to interact and socialize. she would have droned on and on about finding all the beneficial friends and even some of the ill advised friends -- if only so she could be well versed in a wide variety of experiences and motivations. nothing breaks like a heart, but paradoxically, nothing is as sturdy as a heart. what breaks the easiest is not the heart itself -- it's the trust and the faith and hope, above all else. she had long since learned to never expect a thing from people, but it did not mean she was unapproachable or scowling.

quite the contrary.

in the past, she could make all the friends she'd wanted. granted, in the past, she had the zhao family reputation, wealth and standing to back her up. even if she wasn't friendly, people would have sought her out. and yet, she was still honest and approachable. it was easy being approachable and friendly in her hometown, though -- she'd known most of the people there anyway. new cities had always drawn out the more introverted side of her nature, though she did find herself relaxing rather swiftly.

the tea room had become a safe haven of sorts -- when she wasn't in the stables, tending to the horses, that is. she had liked the lively atmosphere around her that did not directly swallow her in, liked the chitter chatter that bounced off of her like water droplets off wax. but, even if she wasn't directly involved in it, it did not mean she was completely isolated from it, either -- sometimes, the rooms would get crowded and she would find herself in a company with another likeminded individual -- just coming in for tea and some lively comfort.

Tea rooms were not much of his liking most of the day, but sometimes it was a good place to hide. From work, from life or himself, it depended on the day. Still, André had gone there on that day to run from work responsabilities. He usually was good at not having to do that, but sometimes he needed to get his head out of the papers and responsability.

Sitting in a room and just being a guy sometimes just... felt right. Maybe sitting around and listening to other's people chatter and problems just helped him forget about his own, even if just for a couple hours.

André stared at the stranger that adressed him and took a seat. While he wasn't unopposed, he didn't want to have to come back another time. Fine, he would chat with this stranger.

— It really does. — André replied. — I don't think I've seen you before.

for the life of him, eren couldn't seem to fathom how andré had such a bitterness and distaste towards his hometown. sure, there had been an inkling of skepticism before arriving, but eren quickly came to grow fond of the valley. another soft laugh left his lips, eyes rolling lightheartedly at his friend's antics. " a place that never moves ? " eren echoed, head shaking lightly. " you're being awfully dramatic, andré, this town is marvelous ! most of the people i've met are truly wonderful, and i don't believe i've ever seen sunrises quite as stunning as the ones i see from the window in my room at the inn. i mean ... i might actually want to settle down here. i've even been looking into apartments, and what not. "

— Live here for a minimum of five years and you will see what I mean. — André replied. Duty to his family's legacy was the only thing still keeping him there, he would leave if he could but he couldn't deny that having his friend there was enough to make it a little more bearable. And he liked also working with him.

That was why when Eren mentioned looking for a place to live, his eyes widened. In a pleasantly surprised way. So he was trully thinking about living there? While he didn't see the appeal..... he was happy. André was actually kind of trully thrilled about that.

— Any places in mind so far? How come you are only now telling me about this?

roni's eyebrow quirks upward in silent question. when it was clear andré wasn't elaborating on the specifics of the accident, she voices, "an accident... involving an andiron... in the garden... why would an andiron be in the garden?"

it should be a good thing — andré was singlehandedly ( but like ... not really ) helping her advance in her apprenticeship. the repetition of repairs she'd had to do was a great lesson and a step into mastering her skills... but that didn't absolve andré from the tired sigh and the near roll of her eyes. "yeah, yeah. it's not like i can say no, can i? we're all just willing servants, ready to do as you request." she muses dryly. "did you bring those in too?"

— I mean, you can say no. You just shouldn't. It would make for a terrible service, I would complain to your boss and you could get scolded. — André replied. So yeah, she couldn't say no to him even if she really wanted. He placed his gardening tools on the counter since trully, she had no choice.

When she asked about what the andiron was doing in the garden in the first place.... well, he didn't want to answer that. The accident had been when the man had tossed it through the door out in frustration, and onto the garden. He might have also picked it up and hit it against the ground several times.

But André wasn't about to admit to that.

— As for what it was doing in the garden, better not worry about it, mademoiselle .

she  gave  a  one-shouldered  shrug,  willing  to  entertain  the  prospect  for  the  sake  of  her  own  amusement,  but  not  caring  to  commit  to  it.  ❝ oh, perhaps, ❞  she  said  airily,  tapping  immaculate  fingernails  against  the  cut-crystal  of  her  glass.  in  all  honesty,  sabine  rather  liked  the  idea  of  working  somewhere  where  her  husband  wasn't  the  doorman,  but  there  would  certainly  be  drawbacks  as  well.  for a start, she  preferred  her  bosses  a  little  less  solemn,  less  dour.  ❝ it  would  depend  on  the  salary,  of  course,  and  on  the  perks.  the  diamond  room  pays  its  entertainers  quite  handsomely  —  i  trust  you'd  do  the  same? ❞

His parents probably would know how to handle that better. Yet, André couldn't quite know what in her phrase set him off, but something did.

— I'll have you know, madame, that despite what it's said about management here in the Brewers, I have all the staff more than well paid for the services. So yes, if I were to have someone perform here they would be paid accordingly.

He did say that in a rather abrupt and rude tone, but at least he wasn't yelling. He was almost good at holding that back during business hours.

it  wasn't  too  often  that  sabine  got  a  night  off  from  performing  at  the  diamond  room,  but  —  on  those  rare  occasions  —  she  liked  to  go  elsewhere  to  drink  and  to  enjoy  herself.  less  chance  of  meeting  her  husband.  ❝  you  know,  monsieur,  you  should  really  think  about  getting  a  little  live  music  in  here,  ❞  she  remarked,  chin  in  her  hand  as  she  leaned  against  the  bar,  giving  him  her  best  and  most  teasing  smile.  not  that  she  was  that  keen  to  find  a  new  job  (or  a  new  boss,  for  that  matter)  but  still,  it  never  hurt  to  sow  the  seeds.  ❝  your  customers  would  surely  appreciate  it,  no?  ❞

André's attention was set on the woman. Did they know each other? Probably not, she most likely came there every now and then but definitely wasn't a regular. He tried to at least remember those.

— I can't say the idea haven't crossed my mind, however it requires more than just hiring someone. — He stated. He needed to make sure there was an appropriate space for a live performance. Would he miss on tables if one was added? Was there demand for it? While the idea was good, not everyone liked live music. Could ruin the whole idea of his place. He tried to make everyone there feels like family, after all. — Are you applying for a position if it ever opens, madame?

there's only one person she knows who'd barge into her place of work so brutishly. roni almost considers pretending not to hear him — she'd been hammering away at the anvil, the perfect excuse to ignore his call and let someone else deal with andré. but of course, as the lowest rung on the ladder, ignoring a patron ( especially one her mentor didn't like to deal with themself ) was not an option.

roni sighs, settling down her tool as she makes her way to the front. "it's not fair you know exactly where to —" she cuts herself off mid-rant, her eyes catching on the item in his hands. roni frowns and plants a hand on her hip disapprovingly. "but i just fixed that! a week ago today! what are you doing to that poor thing?"

If the mentor didn't like dealing with André, then he could say the feeling was mutual. He would often feel the judgment coming from him and, while Roni had all the right to do so, she was more pleasant to deal with. Upon seeing her reaction, he didn't feel embarassed. That feeling had left him years ago.

— There was an accident in the garden. — André replied. By accident he meant he had one of his crash outs and sadly, the trinket had taken the tool and had been thrown hard against a wall. — Believe me, if I could stop that from happening, I would. Which reminds me.... can you sharpen my sheers and prunners too? They are getting a little dull.

he was leaned back leisurely upon a worn, wooden chair, a tankard of ale situated in front of him as the murmured chatter of patrons became their background noise. his shift at black diamond brewers had ended for the evening, but eren stuck around in favor of spending time with andré. a deep chuckle emitted from his lips, taking a moment to sip at his drink before setting the mug back down. " andré, my dear friend ... in truth, i fear you've sold your hometown quite short, " he leaned back against his chair once more, arms folding across his broad chest. " i've never been more inspired since the day i arrived in prism falls. "

It was, thankfully, a very slow evening so André didn't need to worry too much about keeping an eye around as he spent some time with his friend. Eren had been one of the few souls in that place that seemed to bring a side of the man that had been long gone. Upon hearing about what he thought about their sleepy little corner of the world, he placed a hand on his chest, his expression seeming as if he had hurt André with his statement.

— And here I thought you were my friend, you tell me you manage to find inspiration here? In a place that never moves? — He seemed perplexed. — Do tell me, what did you find here that is so interesting?

⸻        ･ﾟ                 ✧              “  i  brought  you  some  wonderfully  delicious  treats  from  cinnabar  café.  ”  julian  leaned  his full body against  the  oak  counter  of black diamond brewers with  a  radiant  smile,  sliding  the  paper  bag  filled with pastries towards  his  oldest  (  and  perhaps  most  unlikely  )  friend.  though  he  wouldn’t  dare to admit  it  out  loud,  he’d  been  concerned  about  the other.  there’d  been  a  shift,  barely  noticeable  so,  yet  julian  had picked up on it.  cue  an  increase  of  abrupt  gifts  and  surprise  outings.  “  i have a table reserved at  the  diamond  room  tonight,  care  to  join  me  ?  ”

Sometimes he hated, sometimes he adored, how Julian always knew when André needed a distraction. He had managed to pick up on his mood shifts for years now, and had prevented a problem more often than he even knew about it. He took the paper pag abruptly, side eyeing the other before taking a peak inside.

Oh, he had brough his favorite.

It was almost hard not getting mad after this sort of bribe.

— I'm not really in the mood tonight, Julian. — André replied. He then looked up at this friend's face.... Ugh. Fine. He wouldn't enjoy himself but he could go. — Fine, I'll go. But I won't stay much.

At this point, he didn't even bother trying to seem like a normal costumer as he walked into the Cobalt Forge. He had been there more times than he would like to admit, even more than he would ever care to count too.

At this point, André could say he was a loyal costumer of theirs.

— Roni, I know you are here c'mon out. — He called, impatient and rude as always. — I've brought another trinket for you to fix.

— So Eren..... — André started, staring at his friend. — You have been a while here, are you ready to admit I was right about this place being completely and totally boring?

Eren was probably one of the few people in town that he liked. Helped that he had seen how much more lively the world outside was when compared to that quiet town. He would never admit it out loud, but he had been happy when he recieved a letter learning that he would be moving to town. At least someone there he liked.

⸻        ･ﾟ                 ♱               it  took  malachi  several  seconds  to shift  his  gaze  from  the  crystal  glass  before  him.  a  deep  frown  emerged  upon hearing  andré’s  voice  ring  inside  his  ears, prompting him to bring his hands up to rub at his eyes. a rather futile attempt at lulling himself right out of his thoughts.  only  then  malachi  smiled—  no  genuine sincerity  nor  amusement  hiding behind  the motion.  “    good  lord, do  i  look  that poor today  ?  ”   he'd  grown  familiar  with  the whispers  surrounding  andré  and  his  reputation,  resulting in  the  black  diamond  brewers  becoming an  ideal  spot  to  unwind.  no  one  asked  questions,  no soul even noticed  him  in-between  the  boisterous  crowds  and  lively  music. 

his  shoulders  slanted in defeat,  head  lowered  as  he  sighed.  staring up  at  the  other,  malachi  shook  his  head.  “   you  ever  wish  you  could  escape  this  place  ?  ”

— Just enough to catch my attention tonight, sir.

Not that he cared, he didn't. But André had seen the other around enough times to notice that he seemed to be especially tired on that night. And he was bored enough to ask about it. Small talk was good with costumers right? All he needed to do was keep the other talking more than him.

At the question however, the man closed his hand into a fist taking a deep breath. It had been years now, he couldn't get that subject be the best of him.

— More than you can imagine. This place is too..... quiet. What about yourself?

Yes, that was a good word for it.

— Long day?

André didn't really care. He was there mostly to keep an eye than because he wanted to be. As the manager, he needed to stay in the stabilishment and always would make a point to stick around especially in the busiest hours of the day.

The figure he had adressed was one he had seen often at the Pub, and like him, he seemed to like to keep to himself. Today he seemed particularly tired. He would indulge.
