2017 for me has been mostly about tears, and grief. Grief for many things, many un-grieved things, of which there are many, and of which my body chose this time to express, and I’m grateful, because every tear of grief, is also the water of my rebirth - of which I’ve discovered - life has many. And I’ve learned too that grief is not something to hide from or to fear or to have shame about. Grief is a humbling thing. It pulls you out of your dulled shell, allows you to scream out your deepest and long-held agonies, and allows you to be free. I loved this quote from a beautiful book I’m reading on this subject : ”The water of the ocean is salty because it is made of the tears of all the grief of all the world’s losses since forever. So it is that the water of all grief - the ocean - is the womb that gives birth to all life. So all life and happiness are born from a womb of life’s grief. Understanding this will make it so you can grieve and your grief will also go to add to the great life-birthing ocean.” ~ from The Smell of Rain on Dust and 📷
