This way I can relive the dumb shit I once said and get secondhand embarrassment from it as a bonus.

Notice that the windmill from the Greene farm is the visual focal point on this poster 💫
Yesss! I noticed this immediately too and was so excited!!
Okay so ive always had issue with people complaining about literary analysis with the whole "sometimes the curtains were just blue" but like. stop for a moment and think. just for a moment.
Why would an author bother calling attention to an unimportant detail? Theres only so much space in a book, when there's so much story to be told. Why would they single out a detail like that, when its clear that it should just be a background detail, something glanced over and not thought of.
Authors are not stupid, and theyre rarely pretentious. These details have meaning because they are fixated upon.
Why would Katherine Paterson write a whole chapter in Bridge to Terabithia about a family remodelling a living room? Because the golden room is the family's fresh start. They're starting over fresh, its a new day, a new world for them. The room isnt the focus, the characters are.
Why would F Scott Fitzgerald call attention to the green light across the bay in The Great Gatsby? Who cares about some dumb light illuminating the bay? Because its not about the light. Its symbolism. Gatsby sees a beacon every night, something that drives him forward, a goal that he so desperately wants to attain, visible, but just out of reach.
Media is not always intended to be taken at face value. Creators strive to make something their audience will think about, brew over, be inspired by, and truly love and appreciate. Its not about the curtains. It never was, and never is.
As someone who grew up studying russian literature at school: the curtains absolutely can and will be just blue. And the lamp is red and the carpet is yellow and you get to read 20 pages about every leaf on the tree. The important part is truly to learn how to analyze all of this as a bigger picture.
And that's where the problems usually start. Because many of us were unlucky enough to get the teachers who valued their and their opinion only. You were stuck with an absolutely tyrannous way of studying the material: you were not allowed to think, you were not allowed to have a different opinion, you were punished for questioning teacher's opinion. I personally got in trouble to the point where my parents were called to school because in frustration I expressed my own feelings on the topic of family in "War and peace" and disagreed with two teachers in the class at the moment. It was absolutely ridiculous. And ultimately it all simply made students hate the books, didn't teach to think critically and didn't explain that reading about these damned curtains is actually good for you.
"How does taking 'English classes' have anything to do with falling for conspiracy theories?" Because that's where you learn what logical fallacies are. Do you know what a logical fallacy is. Please tell me you know what that is.
I'm one upping you, nonny: do you know how to read? Because it sure doesn't feel like it. Go reread what I've written and then come back, off anon as well. I'm not about to discuss anything with someone who's hiding behind anonymity.
I'm sorry y'all but this is bullshit. How does taking 'English classes' have anything to do with falling for conspiracy theories? Smth smth causation and correlation.
My parents are one of the most well read people I know, they're teachers/professors. They fall for conspiracy and propaganda All.The.Time. Because they grew up in another, much older, generation (and country) where they were heavily controlled from the childhood and taught that: Authorities don't lie! Believe your government! Tv says only the truth, newspapers say only the truth! It was almost cult-ish. And it was so heavily beaten into them that they basically have no opportunity to recover now that they're elderly.
Another example. A younger woman, a linguist (a language teacher? Not sure how it's called right in English). Very intelligent family all in all, very well educated herself. Was traumatized and shaken deeply by a loss of a family member. Now believes in flat earth, aliens among us and is antivaxx. Feel like reading classic literature didn't save her from media brainrot and psychological trauma.
And anyway it really feels like the main focus of this post by that Domo was to shit on stem people and start a stem vs. humanities argument all over again. And had nothing to do with the topic itself.
Reblog if you've ever cried over the death of a fictional character
I was on IG and the bethyl hug picture popped up so I clicked on it. And it was from this TWD fanpage, but the official TWD page follows them!! That screams suspicious to me, it pretty much was posted the same day they posted the "Choose who you'd bring back" thing. For reference, this picture was posted 2 hrs before.
So many little crumbs lately 😅
Official twd account new post ..
Are they trolling or teasing at this point ?

The amount of comments that say Beth and mention they would want her back so Daryl is happy… like even the GA knows they are meant to be🥹🩷
I might be late to the party on this one, but I just realised this painting that Jadis did of Beth, was from when Daryl and her were alone together after the prison. When she was picking strawberries 🍓 (claimed) and she was talking about Faith. ✝️🐰
He was the only one that had this memory of her exactly like this. So he must have been the one to describe her to Jadis. ❤️
Now the same picture is being used for her French ComicCon appearance with royal return purple 💜
On Resurrection Sunday!

Well, that brings back some fucking traumatic memories, doesn't it
Have a happy spin-off ❤️
