MAGIC ANONS ARE ALWAYS OPEN. {{ OOC: beyondthetemples-ooc here, controlling this page; this is a roleplay account for my most precious OC, Dove. *Rules* ~ QUICK FACTS: Name: Dove. Right now she has no alias, nor does she yet have need. Identity: 14-year-old female living with the Teen Titans. And did I mention, she's Raven's half-sister by father? (It's a VERY long story and can't be explained in a "quick" facts style. The condensed version: It's kept secret. She wasn't supposed to exist and her mother kept her very PRESENCE a secret, from their entire world. And now Dove does her best to maintain that adamant secrecy on Earth.) Appearance: Slightly small, short, and not yet developed, usually wearing a custom-tailored white dress with half sleeves and a black band across the waist, with a white hooded cloak. Her eyes look deep purple from a distance, but look closely enough and they're actually a dark midnight blue with a red sort of "overcast"; they're layered like looking at a dark sky through red stained glass. Her hair is simply blonde and about shoulder-length, her bangs slightly longer. Personality: Dove is extremely shy at first; it takes quite a bit of gentle coaxing to get her relaxed, let alone trusting and willing to open up. Being isolated all her life left her socially crippled, but not cruel; she's actually quite compassionate and friendly once she adjusts. She's also very nervous though, and easily worried. There's a strength in her that she often doubts, the ability to stand up for those she cares for and what she believes in, fighting through to the end even if it kills her and she struggles with herself every step of the way. She was raised pacifist, after all; those beliefs are still as strong in her as her desperate desire to help others. Powers: Above all, telepathy. She can read thoughts, communciate via mental conversations, read memories, and involuntarily detect lying, truthfullness, how hard someone's thinking, and how deeply. She can also mold/force minds in the direction she wants/needs them to go, fabricate false memories and implant them, and warp one's thoughts and perceptions - but she refuses to use those abilities. Even her best-controlled telepathic readings could drive someone insane if she isn't careful... Much more harmless (though not always less frightening) is her family's gift of scrying and precognition. Then there's her effortless but largely uncontrolled sense of empathy; she can feel whether something's positive or negative, but she's so inexperienced and weak with interpretting it that it usually just leaves her confused. She has also shown abilities like telekinesis, levitation, and energy projections, but she's extremely weak with them and they're difficult for her to control. Other things to know: For plot purposes and such, keeping it interesting... Dove is terrified by anger, evil, and violence; her phobias include cynophobia (large dogs), ceraunophobia (fear of thunder - NOT lightning or rain), and emetophobia (she's paralyzingly terrified of being physically sick); she can't stand the sight of blood or roller coasters (she gets motion sick so easily); and she's embarrassed that magic should probably come naturally to her but she's incredibly inept. And she's prone to reminiscing, especially at first meeting. ~*~ Brief roleplayer's note: Though Dove is a Teen Titans character, and she's already well established in all my stories and fanfics, I consider each "venue" of her life to be a separate form of her reality - so I don't need a Teen Titans partner to feel comfortable RPing with Dove here on Tumblr. Universes can cross. Bringing her to Tumblr opened a new "world" of opportunities, so I'll have her basically starting a new life here, and we'll see where it takes us. :} Willing to RP?: ALWAYS!
{{ Hello! Mun Zira here. Are you wondering why there’s a roleplay blog following you? If not, excellent! Welcome to the blog! Let me know if you need anything tagged.
If you’re confused? As this particular blog is niche in a rather specific way of enjoying a very particular fandom: I thought I should pin the fact that this is also the main blog for several sideblogs you might know me better by.
I’m @beyondthetemples-ooc. Maybe you’ve figured that out by now, maybe you haven’t. It’s only a three-letter difference and a dash, after all. But that is, ultimately, a sideblog to this one. That’s my personal.
~ Are you a friend? A fandom blog? Do you post about animals, books, or cartoons? See above.
~ Are you a witchy blog? I’m rwt-mystic-corner.
~ Pokemon blog? I’m also works-of-magic.
~ There are other blogs I don’t like to advertise, too. (Heptagram, theta delta, etc.) If I followed you around the second weekend in August, it’s likely for one of those!
If you’re still confused on why I’m following, feel free to send a message. Most likely it’s for the personal -ooc blog, but you’re welcome to ask anyways.
Have a chart I developed for visualizing the disposition of your character! This is partly inspired by a chart I saw of Aristotle’s Golden Mean, which is a system he had for developing good character, but of course, this is more about gauging a character’s traits than bringing them into any kind of balance.
For a printable PDF version of the chart please follow this link.
i wanna make it unequivocally clear that there are no time limits when it comes to rping with me. idc if you're scrolling through your drafts and you find a thread of ours from two years ago+ and you wanna continue it... but you're afraid i'll be upset with you bc it's been so long...

{{ Have I mentioned yet how much Dove would like K-Pop Demon Hunters?
She is literally a half-demon that tries to hide her heritage and ends up on a team fighting evil.
The climactic plot point of the others finding out about Rumi and shunning her would speak to so many of Dove's personal worst nightmares.
She also has phases where she struggles with her superpowers when she's stressed and frustrated and afraid.
And of course, the unity and Power of Friendship in the end despite Rumi's secret getting out would really speak to her.
Yeah, Dove would relate SO much, and it would be one of those movies that shocks her with how much it can make her feel.
(As for the music, it's not her very favorite genre, but I think she'd enjoy it. A lot of the cultural references would go over her head, all the online stuff would confuse her, she knows nothing about kpop or fandom. But the story would overshadow all of that.)

{{ Ahh, I should've figured these would go to the main blog on the account.
And I like how this is the first and only one I've gotten, and it's a Rare.
Anyways, that's... probably N from Pokemon Black+White. I really appreciated how much they played with perspective, and a lot of his quotes really resonated with me at the time. I think I admire that he's both so calculated yet so compassionate, so disconnected from humans yet so connected to the other creatures in his world. (I really relate to that last part a LOT.)
Not to mention, I was never too fond of the real-world implications of Pokemon battling myself. And that one quote sounded like it could've come straight from my trainersona's mouth: "Hurting my friends... That's what Pokemon battling really is."
And his character arc! Oh, I LOVED the idea of learning that humans aren't all horrible monsters, and yet not losing his connection to Pokemon for that. And then deciding he wanted (needed?) to go out and see the world. It was just SUCH a good backstory AND plot for him, they did an amazing job with him. Definitely my very favorite Pokemon villain.
Honorable mention: If we're playing with a looser definition of "villain", I also really ADORE who the "big bad" antagonist in the Teen Titans videogame for PS2 and Gamecube was, and this is a massive spoiler for the entire twist ending of the game, trying to figure out how/why they were trapped in a videogame, they went through the HIVE kids and Mumbo and even Slade, but it turns out the villain was: ACTUALLY YOU PLAYING IT!
That delights me to no end. It was a fun twist! And I love a good fourth wall break!
Not to reveal two of my biggest hyperfixations in one ask or anything. 8F
She'd been at these parties before. The moment it turned midnight on a new year, she knew to expect the chorus of glasses clinking, the rambunctious blowing of noise-makers, and the room-wide shouts of "HAPPY NEW YEAR!"
What Dove didn't expect was the fireworks going off right then, and she went wide-eyed and froze for a moment. She waited for them to quiet down, but they just kept coming. She glanced at the window-- Her breath caught after a particularly loud resonating BOOM, but the next instance she was taking a deep breath and then exhaling a quiet groan into her hands.

"That's okay." Dove said it reflexively, hoping she hadn't winced. Would it be rude if he came to offer her something he'd made, and she made him feel bad because she was too sensitive to sounds? She didn't know, but he was offering a welcome distraction, and she picked up a slice. "I think no milk is better for me, anyways..."
The other part, though: aqua-what-huh...? But before she could figure out how to ask, she took a tentative bite... and then her eyes lit up, pleasantly surprised. It was soft and fresh and still warm, which even Dove knew was the ideal way to enjoy baked goods. Best of all, he was right: it wasn't too sweet, but it was still plenty flavorful!
"It's really good," she praised, and gladly took another bite.
"Yeeessss!" he partially whispered, doing his utmost to contain himself. The changeling was practically radiating joy.
"You can have all you want," he informed, eyes nearly sparkling. "My stuff can be hit or miss with the team because it's vegan. Starfire will eat anything, Robin at least tries stuff, Raven's hard to convince, and Cyborg won't shut up if I use substitutions for anything."
The teen crossed his arms and let out a huff.
"But hey, I got a new veggie buddy in you now!"
Dove nodded, content surprise softening to vague curiosity. She wondered what could possibly be wrong with substitutions? It was all food, wasn't it?
"Really? Why didn't they want to try something like this? It's good..." Her brow furrowed and she chewed thoughtfully, until she swallowed and realized, "They're always telling me I should try new things... But they really don't want to try new foods?" She didn't mean it to sound judgemental, but the double standard baffled her.
"FINDING THE SHARD?" she knew that was the situation being referenced, but hope found herself inquiring if only to buy herself time to further think on it. the answer was obvious to her, but that didn't mean it was EASY. death as a lone concept wasn't the trickiest to comprehend, but it was the impacts of such that required additional musing. to die, whether by choice or external factors, would carry consequences that rippled beyond; it was not an event that occurred in i s o l a t i o n, even if that was intended affect by those who sought it as a solution.
( it was never a solution in her mind, but she was well aware that darkness and misery led others to feel they had no other choice - a state she was grateful to say she had never had to experience firsthand, even despite the weight of trauma on her shoulders )
storm hues flickered outward, examining the world beyond the two of them. a reality she didn't know well enough yet. maybe she wouldn't know at all. hope could die and the people would n e v e r understand what had happened. she could disappear and outside of jones, not a soul would be the wiser. the closest to a death of no consequence that anyone could achieve, simply because she had never truly existed in the reality she now found herself.
"yes. to protect this reality, to protect my original, to protect all. that shard is dangerous in the wrong hands and... things are complicated. it... we need to get it. to not get it would have tremendous repercussions that i'm not able to fully account for." determination strung in each syllable. though, oddly, the blue haired was SMILING through her response. "i would do anything to protect those i care about, to protect lives of innocents. it doesn't matter if jones is the only one to know i'm gone or if this entire new place knew my name. i value doing right by others over giving myself a future... assuming i'd even have one if that shard is lost to the wrong hands."
Dove listened, taking it in, initially with her lips pressed thin and expression searching, doubtful. Her eyes and senses were both locked on this stranger professing so much danger to this world. The place that was her charge to protect. Her second home.
But slowly, as the other spoke with such certainty, such conviction, Dove's brow smoothed and her own hesitance ebbed away, lower, lower still, falling back until her own certainty came through.
After all, it was familiar. Protecting innocents was a big part of her job as a Titan, and she'd struck out on a journey to protect items of great power once before, determined not to let them fall into the wrong hands. She'd had divine intervention to help her then. But what was someone falling into their world from another reality, if it wasn't a stroke of fate?
What wasn't so familiar to Dove was this readiness, this absolute confidence the other exuded. Even the thought of "other realities" was easier for her to grasp than confidence.
"Okay..." She let out a breath. "Okay. So... We really need to protect it." Gaze wandering to the surrounding city, she added, "Protect THEM. There are so many people here... In this city, this world. Some of them are... trained for this situation. But--But not a lot. And I've never heard of a... 'shard'? So..." She looked back with deference, and hoped she wasn't missing something obvious. "How do we protect a shard?"
