Hear ye, Hear ye!
People of the realm! We are happy to announce that all of our carrier pigeons have returned to us safely! Every traveler who has come to our gates should now have a received word about the status of their application, whether it be an invitation into our walls, or well wishes on their path as it diverges from ours.
However, we know that in times of war, correspondence may be compromised. We would not put it past those filthy Blues to steal letters from our citizens, perhaps hoping they can keep our numbers low.
So, if you have not found the letter you were sent, please come to our gates and we shall tell you your fate face-to-face, where you can be sure it won't have been tampered with.

Updated Zine Schedule
The delays we have faced from Red Kingdom's poor planning have now been resolved, and we are happy to share our updated battle plans with you all.

May 12th- The Portcullis Falls // Applications Close
In the weeks that follow we will call upon our new citizens and get them settled into kingdom life // We'll send out emails and organize contributor assignments.
July 10th- Training Commences // The Creation Period begins
October 30th- Final Preparations // Final Submissions
Early-Mid January- We win this war // Zine Release
If you people didn't care so much about the tradition of new monarchs meeting on the bridge, than our monarch unexpectedly going to sea for their ENTIRE reign wouldn't have made a difference.
If our positions were reversed, we would have just attacked you early!
Anyways, WE are now back on schedule, Blue Kingdom has stopped making their citizens wait around because of purposeless traditions.

Hi! Do you do rejection emails for this zine? Just wanted to know for sure what my fate with my application is :]
Yes, we will be doing rejection emails for the zine!
Full disclosure, we are a more than bit behind schedule in terms of what we planned to get done before getting emails sent out and the contributors into the Discord.
The long and short is some of our vital mods for that process were unexpectedly busy during the time we were planning on getting most of the work done.
However, those mods are back now, and we are back in full force getting everything up and running! An updated zine schedule will be posted as soon as were certain of what we want our work timeline to be.
In addition, when we have finished sending all of the acceptance and rejection emails out, we will make a post about it here so you can be sure nothing has gone wrong.
Funnily enough, we are also behind. Something must be in the air.
As the sun sets and the candles of the night are lit, the time for new blood has come to a close. We can accept no more within our walls.
Over the next fortnight or so we shall convene and decide who among you shall join our kingdom in the coming battle. We shall tack an announcement to the front gate when all of the carrier pigeons have flown out.

And thank you especially to that one mage who accidentally applied to Red Kingdom twice, now it looks like we have one more applicant than Blue Kingdom. Huzzah!

For creators, would it be okay if we were to rewrite/redraw an improved version of an old work for this zine?
The short answer is no.
The long answer is that one of the main points of these zines is to be collections of entirely new work celebrating Bannerfall SMP. So, we want creators to make fresh works, rather than recreating something they've already made and published. Especially since this SMP, realistically, did not go on for very long, meaning any works past about it would have been created rather recently.
There is some grey area, we don't have an issue with people taking inspiration or a similar direction to their past works, but we ask that creators do not come with the intention of making direct remakes of old pieces.

No, no, we especially need applicants in the RED Kingdom and you should all apply to join US SPECIFICALLY
Are the latest applicant counts including those that signed up for both zines? If the number is still uneven, would those that sign up for both automatically be sorted into the zine with lesser applications?
(Out of character) Yes the count does include those who signed up for both zines. That number will always be equivalent, so the difference in application amounts is down to people who only signed up for one (of which Red has consistently had the edge on LOL)
If we don't go over the general number of contributors we want for each zine, then, yes we will be sorting those who applied for both so that the zines have the same amount of contributors.
If we do go over our general number then people who applied for both will be more likely to get their first choice, but also we'd be outright rejecting more people because we can only handle so many participants.
Basically, the zines will have the same amount of contributors either way, the whole "application amount" thing is just for fun and is just us playing up the silly rivalry between zines (while also reminding more people to apply)

Will this zine only release digitally, or will there be a physical release also?
Currently we only plan release the Blue Kingdom Zine digitally!
The Red Kingdom Zine is also currently planned for digital release only!
if the character i wish to write about changed kingdoms during the smp (eg 4c from blue to red, kitty from red to blue) which zine would i apply for?
If you are writing about the kingdom change, then you can pick either. If you are writing about another specific event, you'd pick the kingdom they were in at the time of the event.
And if what you're writing about spans a longer period or isn't time-specific, you can also pick either.
Basically, ask yourself, "What kingdom does this primarily happen in?" and therein lies your answer.
Mkay so AUs are off the table, is canon divergence, too?
Yep! Unless you can justify something being able to happen with the current canon, do not plan on having that be the topic of your piece.
hi ! you mentioned 'song' under the writers descriptions - was that metaphorical or can someone write a song for it? and would it be an mp3 that accompanies the zine or would there be sheet music in the actual pages? (thankies ~)
If someone wanted to write a song, we would have them include the written lyrics in the zine. They could also have sheet music formatted with their contribution, if they wanted to add it. It'd be formatted similarly to any poetry contributions and would have a reduced word count requirement to narrative written contributions.
We would not require anyone writing songs to provide a recording/MP3 file to accompany the zine, however, if they wanted to do that on top of the requirements already described, we would absolutely be able to accommodate that!
