None of you is the villian in this story.
i genuinely don’t care about whether you protest or not BUT WHY DO WE KEEP SPAMMING IN THEIR LIVES. PLEASE GOD WHAT ARE YOU GUYS NOT GETTING????
WE—OR YOU GUYS BC IM ON THE NEUTRAL SIDE—ARE DOING ALL THIS FOR ENHYPEN. then why are we MAKING THEM UNCOMFORTABLE. TELL ME. WHY ARE WE MAKING THEM REMEMBER THE LOSS THEY’RE GOING THROUGH?? ESPECIALLY ON JAY’S FVCKING BIRTHDAY.
LIKE CAN WE NOT DO IT IN THEIR FACES???? first jungwon, now jay. what next, are we going to make the rest of our idols feel worse???
!!!!!!
Okay let's get some things straight. There has been a lot going on in the k-pop community lately, like always, but this time it feels different and I think it's because it's happening to the groups I've actually grown up with.
Yesterday, I learned about the Katseye–Manon situation. Today, I learned that Mark left NCT. And I can't believe I've reached a stage in my life where the groups I held so close to my heart are going through changes like this. It feels strange in a way I can't fully put into words. Still, despite everything, I genuinely wish them all the good things.
I've been on Twitter since morning, watching everything unfold in real time. SM's statement, Mark's letter, every post and every reply. And for a moment, it felt like watching March 10th unfold all over again right in front of me. But somehow…it landed softer.
Maybe it was because I had already seen the Dreamies crying during their last concert a few days ago, and it felt like something was about to happen. Maybe it was because SM gave a proper "last working day" for Mark as an NCT member instead of just dropping a departure notice while still including him in merch and brand deals. Maybe it was because I saw the members individually commenting on Mark's post with words of encouragement. Or how some of them went on Bubble and talked about their beloved member, and shared their own views regarding his departure.
It felt more personal. More human. And I won't lie, watching all of that made me jealous of Czennies for a good while.
Because it made me wonder…was it really too much to ask for something similar as an Engene? Was it too much to ask for a proper Weverse statement saying Heeseung would be parting ways with ENHYPEN to pursue his solo career, along with a clear last date of his activities, like May 24, 2026? Was it too much to ask for the members to comment on his letter on weverse (with their individual profiles) and show their support? Was a proper OT7 goodbye too much to ask for?
Because instead of that, what we got was confusion.
There are speculations, theories, assumptions, and I try my best to understand most of them. I really do. And every perspective seems to share one common denominator: BELIFT handled this very badly. At this point, if you're still denying that, you're just too much in your head.
We will never know what actually went down. There are n number of possibilities, conflicts between higher-ups, between members, between Heeseung and management but regardless of the reason, the way it was handled publicly still matters.
At the very least, BELIFT could have not tried to erase his past while rewriting ENHYPEN's future as six. They are under the same label anyway. They could've let all seven of them talk about each other. It would've been so nice, so meaningful, to see them interact, even in small ways, like collaborating on tiktoks for each other's future songs. But with the way things are unfolding, I don’t think we'll ever get to see that.
And then there's this whole discourse of "you should know your limits as a fan," "you are just a fan," "they don’t owe us explanations." Which is true, I agree. They don't owe us their internal conflicts, they don't owe us information about their personal bonds off camera, they don't need to tell us what discussions happened or what led them to drop the notice the way they did. They don't owe us that.
But when you are a company managing a kpop group, one that is built not only on the members' talent and hard work but also on fans who have given their time, money, love, and energy to support them wholeheartedly, then yes, you do owe them basic clarity and respect.
Posting a notice, followed by a member's letter, and then calling it a day is unfair. It's unfair to the fans and it's unfair to the members too, who are now constantly subjected to fans' anxiety and disappointment.
ENHYPEN has already announced a tour as six, while Heeseung is still promoting the SIN: Varnish album till May. BELIFT could have easily announced everything on March 10 and clearly stated that his last activity as a member would be May 24. Engenes would have showered all seven of them with so much love and cherished those final OT7 moments. Instead, we are divided, blaming each other for whatever stance we've taken, whether it's being ot7, ot6, or ot1.
The members can't even mention each other. They can't talk about the departure. They can't even acknowledge that something has happened and yes, this kind of silence is understandable in cases involving controversy (bullying, dating, scandals; where companies want to avoid associating the group with negativity).
But this is not that situation. Heeseung left to pursue a solo career. He is still under the same label. It was a mutual decision.
So why erase him like he didn't give his all to ENHYPEN for over 5 years?
Since January, Heeseung, Jungwon, and Sunghoon have been getting harassed by sasaengs. The members are getting hate for being "shady" when all they've done is continue promoting their concerts and albums, exactly like they always have. People are pitting members against each other like their lives depend on it.
So much unnecessary drama and all of it could've been avoided if BELIFT handled things properly. So much for "long discussions."
Then there's the fandom behavior, which honestly shocked me. I saw someone say that survival show groups tend to have the most solo stans and while that may be true, I still don't understand it.
How do you watch someone grow alongside a group for 5+ years, laughing, crying, singing, dancing, living together, and when it all ends, your first reaction is, "thank God, the rest were never worth the support anyway" how can you say you support your favorite while belittling the very people they spent their youth with? And on the other side, how are people saying things like, "now xyz will get more lines," or "the group never looked balanced with him anyway" umm…what? So you were silently resenting him the entire time while pretending to support the group? Is that how it is?
I know this doesn't define the whole fandom but seeing such a large chunk of people behave this way was genuinely baffling and the possibility that there are still people harboring these feelings, waiting to surface if another member leaves, is honestly just mind boggling.
I also don't understand the overanalyzing. Whether people want Heeseung back or not, one thing is obvious, constant hate is not going to make anyone look happy. I saw people crash out because Heeseung looked "healthy" during the March 22 fancall. Then I saw people crying because he looked like he lost weight during the March 30 one.
If I were an idol getting hate for wearing a Rolex, having thick eyebrows and juicy lips, being professional on fancalls (and by professional I mean not breaking down publicly), talking about my solo album, and simply looking put together, I would be stressed too.
He literally got two weeks to stay offline and gather his emotions. Whether that was his decision or not, he had time to process things. Of course he seemed more composed on March 22.
But after being bombarded with hate left and right for being professional on the first fancall after departure, I would lose my spark too. I would be more withdrawn. I would be careful about what I say. I would hesitate to even talk about my album. I would feel scared that even smiling might be taken the wrong way. So yes, it makes sense why he seemed different on March 30.
And comparing the fancalls which took place after he left to older ones where he still was a member of ENHYPEN is pointless because the entire context has changed. Back then, he wasn't under this kind of pressure, neither from public or from company.
At the same time, the rest of ENHYPEN members have been continuously working without a break, even when the departure news broke out. They didn't get time to process public reactions. They were scared how fans would react, not all fancalls get posted. So of course they would appear more shaken compared to Heeseung. They appeared shaken up not because he "left them miserable and vulnerable" or because he was selfish, but because they didn't get time to process ENGENES reactions like Heeseung did.
Why do some people lack such basic comprehension skills?
And then there's this tour.
I genuinely don't understand why BELIFT is giving them such a long tour when it hasn't even been that long since their previous one.
We already knew the tour was happening so let's stop acting as if it's some new news, Heeseung himself spoiled it. So I don't understand why some people are acting shocked about the announcement. The tour announcement isn't the issue. The real issue is the long, exhausting timeline. The backlash should've been about letting ENHYPEN rest, but instead, it became about the announcement itself (at least from what I saw on my feed).
We should also keep one thing in mind: if the members (including Heeseung) seem "okay" with everything, it's not because they don't care about each other or about Engenes. Whether the members wanted Heeseung out or not, whether Heeseung wanted to balance group and solo work or focus only on solo, whether the company forced decisions without considering their feelings, the reasons may vary. But they got closure.
All seven of them knew what was happening behind the scenes before March 10 and even after that. They know whose decision it was, who agreed, who didn't. They had the context.
So no matter how fair or unfair the situation might be for all seven of them, they at least know what happened, making it easier for them to move forward. We, as fans, don't have that luxury.
So it makes no sense to hate or harass them for seemingly moving on while we are still stuck trying to make sense of everything. They had the liberty to understand the situation, from all sides. We didn't. That's why it's easier for them to make peace with it (again, regardless of whether it was fair or not).
It's different for us so there is literally no point in jumping on their bones for appearing "fine or jolly or wtv." (Some engenes really lack that kind of comprehension, not all, but enough to make things worse.)
And if you ask me, personally, I don't think this was the original plan.
I feel like if Heeseung wasn't meant to be part of ENHYPEN's 2026 schedules, then we wouldn't have gotten OT7 EN-O'Clock episodes (which were later postponed). The brand deals wouldn't have been inconsistent, some promoting them as six, others as seven. Heeseung wouldn't have openly talked about future plans with ENHYPEN whether it be on fancalls, on shows, or even mentioning being there for ENHYPEN’s 10th anniversary.
None of that would've happened if this was always the plan. Which is why I genuinely believe something changed suddenly.
Something behind the scenes, between higher-ups, between members, or between Heeseung and management, must have led to the notice being posted earlier than originally planned and now BELIFT was left scrambling, trying to erase Heeseung while simultaneously using him to milk as much profit as possible.
Not allowing the seven of them to even acknowledge each other, while still benefiting from his name, just makes it worse. Now, just to make it clear, I'm ot7, Heeseung will always be a member of ENHYPEN in my blog and my heart because I don't want to erase the hardwork he did and his contribution on making ENHYPEN what it is today. In future (I hope I don't see this day ever) if another member decides to leave or they don't renew, ENHYPEN will stay 7 for me and this blog. I believe all of them deserve to have solo opportunities, and plenty of rest.
At the end of the day, my stance is simple. My issue has always been with BELIFT, with how poorly they handled this, with how easily this could've been done better, with clarity, respect, and care for both the members and the fans. But I guess expecting that from a company that prioritizes profit above everything else was too much. I just hope they face the consequences of it someday, hopefully very soon.
This is the most PERFECT take on this entire ordeal, you are an angel for writing this (and you said some things I didn't even consider, which I so appreciate)!
I wish I could repost this to every Engene on the planet because this is EXACTLY what I've been trying to figure out how to word. Thank you so much for writing this🫶
HE'S SO FUCKING HOT IM NOT OKAY
EHEHEHEHEHEH
Some of y'all do not have a single ounce of digital literacy in your bones and you should not be allowed on the internet until you do. How are we still believing everything y'all see on the internet? On fucking twitter of all places? In the 21st century??? "This was all an experiment by HYBE and Enhypen was the scapegoat" meanwhile, the source: trust me bro, i read through hybe's 400 page report in korean + chatgpt citations. LIKE????? Guys, let's be vigilant now...
At some point, it stops being "support" and starts becoming blatantly disrespectful. When people are overanalysing every single fucking thing that they cannot even smile without some bitch on the internet saying "he's forcing it" or "he has no remorse" like please? Let's be serious.
I think it's pretty clear by now that Heeseung made that choice, whether he was driven to it or not. Am I upset? Yes. Do I think this could've been handled better? Definitely. But what i'm not going to do is sit here and pretend Jungwon, Jay, Sunghoon, Jake, Sunoo or Ni-ki did something wrong to deserve boycott from their own "fans".
At this point, I think I can clearly see how this fandom is moving. Twisting and turning rumours to fit your agenda is NOT helping anyone. In fact, we are all watching, IN REAL TIME, our own fandom sabotaging and causing irreversible damage to the members' careers. The last thing I want is to project my wants and beliefs onto the members and Heeseung as if they don't already have a whole ton of shit on their plates. I refuse to take part in it, and I would rather face reality as painful as is if it means I get to support all 7 on their own paths.
If y'all don't agree with me, then feel free to unfollow me. On god, i'm actually getting so tired.
IDK YOU BUT ILY THANK YOU FOR SAYING THIS
Just a thought I've been having 🦌
Need to get something off my chest. I didn't want to talk about Heeseung right now. But with so many conflicting opinions, I'm wondering if Heeseung DID want this?
If he did want a solo instantly—that is fine. But the timing of this happened so illogically, that I can't HELP but think about it. This is just a rant. So.
So, here is my version of the timeline:
It's 2025. Hee released dial tragedy, and it sounded really good. And that was around... summer(?). Heeseung thinks he is definitely ready for a solo album, but he needs to get Bad Desire, the concerts, and Knife over and done with.
Hee suggests his ideas to the team once they hit November. At this point, filming En O clock. He is ready to go. He thinks he can do it within a group, and this would be a point in his life that really boosts his artistry.
The label decides that he should wait—discussions start in December of what he should do—this may include renewals, schedules, and anything to do with his solo.
He gets told that this isn't possible with their schedule. Even then, Hee wants to try and negotiate this, and he properly fights to make an album of his own while being in the group. He gets called greedy and "putting his ambitions above the group," and Hee falls into doubt. He doesn't know what to do.
Cue conflict in his head, the day dreaming, and the zoning out. At this point, it's ending December. En O clocks are filmed, but Heeseung is deeply conflicted.
Holy perfect explanation
even mid through all that chaos and havoc, has engenes even sat down and questioned themselves what if heeseung truly wants this? like what if he truly has his own vision?
engenes behaviour so far has been so detrimental, not only to the group & fandom image — but also to the members themselves. signing petitions, protesting and commenting under other artists and celebs ( max verstappen included💀) will not do shit.
people who aren't fans of enhypen or kpop in general are literally on twt, tiktok, reddit etc questioning engenes on why the fuck are they acting like they own heeseung and that hes his own person and he doesn't owe anyone transparency and they're literally right. idc if people miss him or don't want him to leave (obvs I would prefer if he stayed in the group but let the man choose what he wants for his future) have we truly considered that maybe MAYBE this is what he wants? like imagine heeseung finding out that over 1 million people signed the petition to stay in the group when it could be something that he doesn't want? He would probably feel isolated and bummed and think that he has 0 fan support. Like I genuinely wish engenes would stop being ruled by their greed and emotions and think for a moment about him. And when I say think about him I don't mean abt what he brought to enhypen and engenes no like think about how he feels and thinks about all this.
Girl-
A bow to you, you said everything!! 👏 really you are right, and what you are saying makes sense. Its really embarrassing honestly that they are doing this.
This can be a really negative thing for both the group and Hee. I already feel like they will disband next year, because of the sasaengs, the gross fans and the overworking.
My mom and I have been coming to the same conclusion over the past few days- even though the timing is weird, and as fans we will never truly know what's going on behind the scenes, going against what looks to be Heeseung's will to leave the group isn't positive fan behavior. It's toxic.
At first, I was shocked and I didn't want to come to terms with it, but honestly at this point I think we should be happy if Enhypen stays together at all once their contract ends. Heeseung and the rest of Enhypen could have been dealing with this for weeks or even longer before we were aware. Yeah, it's hard, but if it's truly what they've deemed to be the best option, we all need to support them in whatever path they choose!
All I hope for is that Heeseung and all other remaining members of Enhypen will be okay after this. It's not like they'll never talk to each other again, or hang out, or stop seeing each other as brothers, even. I'm sure we'll all reminisce about the past when this settles down. I think it'll be okay, and now that I can think about it with a clearer head, I really hope Engenes come to terms with this change too.
