the difference to me, by the way, when it comes to sidney crosby’s acts of goodness and kindness versus nico hischier’s, is that i believe sid is aware that he is choosing to do good or kind things because deep in the recesses of his mind exists an abacus on which he is tallying the worth of his soul and he is always fighting in the spiritual trenches to keep that thing in the green. there’s a sort of self-awareness to sid’s kindness and generosity, like a gently smug kind of layer deep down underneath it where he knows he’s just bought himself one more opportunity to grab an opposing player by the knees and spin-launch them into the boards like mario does to bowser. every time he screeches at someone on the ice with a cracking voice that they’re being a pussy or steamrolls into an early-twenties player for no reason but the crime of being gen z he knows he has to go out into the world and perform a miracle. this has nothing to do with his public perception btw he does not care what the world thinks of him. it’s all for his private and meticulously kept internal abacus.

I'm sorry but I really have no tolerance for anyone acting high and mighty about the red card especially under these specific circumstance in which the red card in question was unfairly awarded, the VAR procedures were not followed, and the suspension was already under review before Trump ever opened his mouth. FIFA is a notoriously corrupt organization and has been actively intervening on behalf of star players and nations in this same cup, though not as publicly as this. But anyone who follows soccer at all knows this is par for the course but suddenly yall are all acting like you were born yesterday.
Also don't even get me started on everyone acting like poor innocent Belgium had to win to protect the sanctity of the sport from the USA's unprecedented corruption. Give me a fucking break. You are not serious people. Stop pretending this is some inspiring David and Goliath story when Belgium is the 9th ranked team in the world and the USMNT wasn't expected to make it out of the group rounds. Belgium was almost certainly going to win regardless but god forbid Americans enjoy rooting for our team for once.
