Since I was born I mourned for better days
Trying different ways but it never seemed to go my way
Praying for days that always felt like a holiday
One wrong step could get you sprayed and laid
I’m honestly just tryna get paid
Laying in the bed I made and it’s kinda comfy
Reaping what I sowed I enjoy my own company
Seeds I planted to supply my loved ones with the fruit of their labor
And I damn sure don’t trust my neighbor
May the odds forever be in our favor
But do to our pigment we distend to slave labor
Am I my brothers keeper? Or thy downfall
Ain’t enough alcohol to drown it all
But enough strength to carry on
Because like my granny always said…
better days ahead
So hold your head high
Because survival is key
To the doors that lead to prosperity.
