and another thing i really like about bill is just how truly horrific his life on euclidea must have been. not for the social isolation and bullying and medical abuse, but for the cosmic horror of it.

imagine spending your entire life lying on your back, pinned to the earth below you, and knowing that that is your position. everyone else around you believes their world is whole and complete and perfect but you know. you know there is an Up, you can conceptualize a Below, you can understand an Around. and because there are parts of reality those around you cannot see you become keenly aware that there are parts of reality you cannot see.

you know there could be horrors lurking just outside your visual field, things that can see you but you can't see back. just like the lights that are Up shine down on you but no one can see their light. how terrifying, not knowing what threats may lurk and being aware of that ignorance.

i was thinking about it it yesterday and it struck me as very gerald's game in a way, trapped in one position and know there is More but unable to access it, and how the mind erodes due to the what ifs.

i've always thought of the euclidean massacre as starting with bill acting in self-defense, finally backed too far into a corner, his final stand, he will be abused this far no further.

but what if he wasn't lying when he said he liberated them. what if the what ifs became too big and he snapped, realized he couldn't let his people keep living as sitting ducks in ignorant bliss.

what if bill saw something that terrified him.

we know from journal 3 what its like when 3d beings interact with the 2d world. what if bill saw something he really by all accounts shouldn't have.

i don't know. just the thought of being stuck on my back and seeing the vastness of the room and the world around me and imaging both the beauty and the horrors beyond that is enough to make me shudder. i think it's fun

hhhh woke up rotating in my head the thought that bill can't pass through a stable portal. the only reason he's able to exist in 3d space in the nightmare realm is solely because of the wonky physics. put him in any other dimension and he's nothing more than a shadow on the wall, unable to really interact with or do much of anything

the portal being a bridge between dimensions was just a shiny veneer to get ford to build it. it's a device designed to punch a hole through reality. the extreme volatility of the thing is the point of it. if you just let it sit open, it would look pretty and you could travel through it, but it would never serve its true purpose as a device meant to let bill out. no, the only way for that to happen is if the nightmare realms malleable rules of physics leaked into a more stable dimension where he's able to craft himself his own 3 dimensional form

there was always going to be a betrayal. there's no middle ground that can be agreed upon, because even if bill doesn't go on to destroy all of reality, there is no way that bill can get out of his imprisonment in the nightmare realm without 46'\ being caught in the crossfire. theres no freedom for bill without ford's home and ford's life's work being destroyed

I think we should make Ford more dangerous. He lived by the skin of his teeth for 30 years in a realm he had little to no prior knowledge of, he was being hunted, constantly in fight or flight, and probably committed war crimes. I want to make him scary. Defensive habits never leave, and I think we could stand to make him a little more vicious.

Imagine being literally any normal resident of Gravity Falls. Sometime in the late 70s this fucking guy from New Jersey builds a house in the woods and moves in. You've occasionally seen him writing in his diary or carrying some sort of extremely dangerous anomaly like it's a really cool fish/interesting bug. He's kind of a weirdo so you do your best to avoid him, and he also tends to avoid all human communication. He at one point gets sort of obsessed with triangles. Then about six-seven years after he moves in there's suddenly a second skinnier scientist who lives in his house. You're half convinced they might be fucking. Also a month or two after he shows up, holes start appearing in your memory. You shrug and say it's probably nothing.

About half a year later huge earthquakes start happening and the power starts periodically going out, coinciding with the weird scientist's house randomly glowing bright blue. Then it completely stops and the next time you see that weird scientist he looks like he hasn't slept in weeks and is somehow even more avoidant of people and clearly extremely paranoid. The next time you see that second scientist he has a thousand yard stare and a haunted look in his eye. He seems to no longer be living with the first scientist. You wonder if they broke up. Weirdos in red robes start appearing occasionally. About a month or two into this that first scientist just goes off the fucking deep, going on an extremely sleep deprived bender and acting like a complete idiot, saying the most insane and weird violent shit to anyone who talks to him, carrying a camera around that he speaks into like he's got an audience, you're pretty sure he got arrested at one point. You wonder, again, if that second scientist broke up with him. You shrug, hey everyone does stupid shit while drunk, that guy's probably going through something. He's still a weirdo though.

Then like a week or two later he goes into town for the first time since that bender, his hair WAY grown out, and he's suddenly far more sociable, offering tours of his house for 15 bucks a person (equivalent to abt 50 dollars today). Within a year he's spinning tall tales of cryptids and has turned his house into a weird tourist trap called the Murder Hut. He later renames it. You're also pretty sure his brother died. You didn't even know he had a brother. You also didn't know he had a car, but he does suddenly have a car. He continues his tourist trap shit for like thirty years. For some reason there are even more holes in your memory. It's probably nothing. Also that second scientist who moved in with this guy has gone completely insane and is building death robots. You didn't know he knew how to do that. Time changes us all I guess- the second scientist has lost his mind entirely, and the first scientist is now a weird tourist-trap running conman who's a lot more talkative and confident. Maybe something happened during his sleep deprived bender that's made him weird in a completely different way.

Thirty years later his niece and nephew visit for the summer and within a month and a half the former-scientist-now-conman guy exposes the darling town psychic/his arch enemy for being a fraud. Then one day gravity reverses itself, the sun turns bright red, and you're pretty sure the world almost ends. Then the world actually does almost end because this weird triangle shows up and starts setting shit on fire and turning people to stone with his gang. At one point he grabs who you're pretty sure is the weird conman except his voice is a lot less gravelly, when did that happen- oh he's a gold statue now. You end up holed up in that tourist trap with the weird conman except his voice is gravelly again and wasn't he a gold statue two seconds ago??? His niece and nephew show up and they're talking about saving this guy who looks like the conman but with way fluffier hair. The conman seems to have beef with him. Also some time ago that second scientist who went completely insane went un-insane? Then you and everyone in the house turn the house into a giant mech and fight the evil triangle and go to free everyone from a throne of frozen human agony. For some fucking reason the conman has a clone. They all have to hold hands and do some sort of ritual to kill the triangle who might be god. Like an hour later god has turned into a statue, the apocalypse is over

and it turns out the weird conman has a twin brother???? Who was the weird scientist from thirty years ago???? and the conman has just been stealing his fucking identity for thirty years and faked his own death to ?????? You barely have time to process this because then the weird scientist and the weird conman who you thought were the same person but are actually twins just fuckin up and leave town to go sailing, and the weird conman leaves his sort of son in charge of the tourist trap. Also there was apparently a cult erasing memories at some point. You're not allowed to talk about the apocalypse happening. You're suddenly aware that there are a lot of cryptids in the woods. What the fuck is happening

I love the idea of the Stan twins being absolute fucking nightmares post-series.

they're thriving. they're not only together again after so long, but they're both healthier in almost every way possible, have more family and friends than they even know what to do with, they only have to shoot off one text, make one phone call, or look a few feet away at any given time to see their family. this is the first time in decades either of them have been so fulfilled and happy.

so, of course, they revert to their natural state. The state they were last in as children: troublemakers on a level that's almost inconceivable to most people.

they swap or make up names almost every damn time they meet someone. they give the most ridiculous stories for what they've been doing, their lies bouncing off each other's until the poor sod who asked is so hopelessly confused they don't even notice both twins pinching snacks or books or dumb little souvenirs for the kids. It's never the same story twice. They poke bears both literal and metaphorical and then turn around and give you the most innocent looks you've ever seen. they incite bar fights that leave everyone else fighting and them just snagging the popcorn and the wallets. they'll chase an anomaly straight into town then look the local police in the eye and say "that hole in the wall was always there officer I swear". they pull pranks, not only on the poor citizens of wherever they land but on each other: sticking clothes in the freezer, whoopee cushions on the seats, hiding under the bed to grab unsuspecting ankles with chilly fingers, drawing on faces (Ford's the more popular victim of this last one, he sleeps every. chance. he. gets and Stan only lasts a week tops of this before he gives in to temptation), you name it they have done it yes even to total strangers. Stan gets slapped by at least seven women at every town, and Ford gets slapped quite a few times too from a case of identity confusion. He doesn't dispute it. In fact, he encourages it. Does a Stanley voice and everything. Works every time. Although one woman does wind up coming back for Stan with a shotgun and the twins have to skip town asap. they do not learn from this encounter.

if you think either of them even pretending to be the voice of reason anymore you are wrong. at least when they were children they were limited to Glass Shard. now the entire world's their oyster and they are cracking that bitch open like a cold one.

The size of the bar changes with the amount of text in the custom title. It's on both mobile and desktop, but it took me a few tries to find it for Accuracy bc my eyes kept skipping over it.

On desktop, go to the blog settings (not appearance), scroll down to the "Ask" section, and it shows you the option to enter a custom ask page title.

On mobile, click the settings gear and scroll to the bottom, the custom ask page title should be the third to last option.
