I love the fairer sex....
Got butterflies and my heart raced through that scene 🥰💘
Oh my god, Gentleman Jack.
I cried. I was so overwhelmed.
So….. if you know me, you know I am not a fan of the Superstar sculpt at all due to how oversaturated the sculpt was for all of my childhood and a bit of my collecting years.
However I am a Toy Story fan so I had to pick this up this doll when I saw how much better it was than the Toy Story 3 Barbie that Mattel released.
I’m really happy Mattel gave her articulation but still tried to capture the look Barbie had in the films by bringing back the Superstar sculpt with that late 90s style screening. I’m really surprised her head isn’t bloated, and the new Mattel screening method meant that it really captured design elements that I loved about Barbie faces from MY childhood.
I’m really happy how the iris has those iris dots, the soft pink eyeshadow and eyelashes! It’s very late 90s/early 2000s and it’s something I severely miss from current Barbie dolls.
I know her outfit is from Great Shape Barbie but her hairstyle and facial paint from the movies really feels much more from the late 90s and I’m glad Mattel actually captured that instead of veering into the 80s paint or doing an incredibly ugly modern eye screening on her.
The outfit itself I’m really surprised Mattel didn’t take any shortcuts on it since the legwarmers are removable, the back matches the front in design/fabric and honestly I would say this is closer to a repro than a playline outfit.
As a side note, I LOVE how the box doesn’t need to be destroyed to get the doll, it really reminded me of how I was a kid and I loved tried to removing toys without damaging the boxes. You can slice the tape, slide out the inner packaging and cut the things holding her in.
Anyway it’s been such a long time since I’ve actually gushed about a brand new Mattel doll, but this doll has a 90s sized doll head, has articulation, the face and hair are nice and the outfit is great too. I honestly am happy with what I paid for her and I highly, highly recommend her.
Want.

Whenever I see this, I always think it’s re-imagined Disney Princesses for a moment (the moment is already over by the time the Aldi bag shows up)
Wow, your dolls are so beautiful! Do you have any tips for a beginner doll collector and restorer? Alls I can do for my dolls is repair their clothes and sew some new outfits for them. I would love to be able to do all the fantastic things you can do with your dolls! You collection is totally out of this world!!!
This hobby requires you to be very tangible and physical with the items you work with. No amount of reading up and learning the theory behind it can prepare you to actually physically changing your dolls.
I know it’s really scary cuz it feels permanent but the more you do the more comfortable it is to customise. It’s why I always recommend to anyone wanting to start is to get a bunch of used dolls cheaply either through thrift stores or eBay lots and getting used to changing them up.
If actually painting or modifying is too much, just start with learning how to restore dolls. Learn how to clean up dolls, fix up their hair and swapping out parts lets you feel less precious about dolls in general and it can help you get used to changing them even if it’s not a “big league” custom job.
It’s how I first started at age 11 with customising, I used to go get second hand dolls and learn to fix up manky hair and did basic customisations and body swaps. Eventually I moved onto bigger things but it’s always nice picking uyp a doll and cleaning it.
“Do you think I got enough books, or should I come back for more …?”
“Please don’t”
Second day on Leipziger Buchmesse 📖 My OC Nicolas bought too many books and his brother is not amused 😅
Gorgeous
We soldiered together in the A Shau Valley in the Mountain of the Crouching Beast. Well, Dave must have been a very special person to put up with your weird-ass shit. Yeah. Yeah, he was. He was kind, and strong, and vulnerable, and beautiful. Beautiful. And I was foolish enough to follow him all the way to the front line.
