A thing about people and disasters
I live in north of england and it’s been flooding here, tens of thousands of people were left without any electricity for days, unable to even make food. Hundreds of homes flooded, people having to evacuate and throw their loved belongings to garbage because of water damage. Single mom without home insurance lost everything and won’t get anything back cause she was unable to pay for insurance for her home. Lots of sad stories, tears. Some people died, livestock died.
Where are all the posts #PrayForNorthUK?
I feel like it needs to be a tsunami or an earthquake to make people care. I haven’t seen any posts about this situation than my own. And i follow quite a few people. But when a cop shoots a kid it’s all over the news and people make such a fuss about it. Not saying it’s not an issue as well, but i feel like it’s only stories like that people care about. Because they can have strong opinions about it, they can call someone names and point fingers.
When it’s just a “simple“ flood, boohoo who cares, it doesn’t sound bad right? Wrong. Think about all the things that have been lost here.
In my eyes people are such hypocrites. I’m sure 80% of the people who were crying and praying for 9/11 have long forgotten it even happened. Sorry if i’m being blunt but that’s how it is. People try to look good in the eyes of others, so they seem to care about things they actually will forget in few days. Which is bullshit. And when ever i see someone reblogging about a disaster or a shooting or something, i just instantly think they’re full of shit, unless they were actually there or someone they knew was involved or it happened somewhere very near them.
I guess that’s where i’m trying to go, i don’t care about tsunamis or shootings, they have nothing to do with me, why should i? Yes it’s terrible that things like these happen, but it’s unavoidable. Then you would say “but think about if it would happen to you!” Yes i do think about it, and it’s horrible but i don’t have the need to look good in anyones eyes. I don’t have the need to show i care, cause i don’t. And i think most people don’t actually care, but they reblog about it anyway, because it’s the right thing to do right? Pretend you actually care.
