i want damian to bond with tim because tim's the only grave brother he has. like, dick and jason are idiots. they came straight from the golden era and have been through so much bullshit in their lives that the only thing they have going for them is their level of whimsy; so they treat everything like it's a scooby-doo adventure. damian grew up having to be jason's impulse control at the league and by the time he gets to gotham he's so fucking tired. dick isn't any different, because dick takes one look at damian and goes 'yeah this kid hasn't smiled once in the past five years i need to give him a childhood' and he just will not take anything seriously. in damian's mind, dick is just jason if jason was real fuckin' bendy, and damian's so over that.

but tim? fucking- joined the squad to stop batman from killing/suiciding himself on the street? had the deaths of all his loved ones faked as a fucking 16th birthday present? fucking joker junior? yeah tim doesn't have time to fuck around. damian considers tim a rival right up until they're working together on a case and tim says 'ok no messing around if we do this right we can get the job done in three minutes no bullshit,' and damian decides right then and there this is his favourite brother and they will be best friends.

i think it's bad that people of any age feel pressure to find a romantic partner. i think giggly "who's your crush" questions at age 9 are weird. i think young people getting into bad relationships because "it's what everyone does" is shit. i think that marriage should not be emphasised as the pinnacle of a relationship and frankly i think that marriage should not be expected at all from romantic relationships. i think that there needs to be more embracing of qprs and friendships and simply not getting a romantic partner. i think it's weird that half the time when you do something nice for someone people wonder if you're flirting. i think that people can and do care deeply about each other without needing to subscribe to the mainstream ideas of love. i think that there should be less of an emphasis on "love" in general. i think the idea of what is "romantic" versus "platonic" is different for everyone and therefore doesn't really have a use except to evoke vague ideas about social customs

Let's take a moment to appreciate just how amazing the title cards were for Batman the Animated Series.

Oh! I actually know what made these look so iconic!

The backgrounds for the entire series were done on black paper, a first for any animated show. It's Batman, which means everything is at night and incredibly dark. So, the majority of the backgrounds were going to be black anyways and using black paper would cut down on the time it took to create all of the backgrounds. Adding color over the black paper instead of the traditional method gave it a much more stylized look that helped make it iconic.

It also forced some other creative choices, such as using an airbrush to do all of the background art. During the early testing, they found that using an airbrush was easier to apply paint with than a paintbrush and that it looked better. Airbrushing let them be more experimental with painting techniques, such as the spattery fades you can see in the "Bane" and "Deep Freeze" title cards above or the soft, deeply shadowed face on "the Last Laugh." The overall effect of airbrushing on a black background is a much darker, moodier vibe than could be achieved with a traditional approach.

They cared very deeply about the art of the show and how they were going to create it. It wasn't just about the story or the character. In the words of co-creator Eric Radomski: "As opposed to making shows just to sell toys, we've made quality films."
