you can only reblog this if you're not racist
huge coming from the site who is so against black art that 'tumblr users are afraid of rap' has been a meme for the best part of a decade. You know that yall are 4channers with pronouns right?
addendum: you can only reblog this if you're not racist part 2
When 1780 babies in Cuba die due to the measurably heightened effects of the blockade on the medical system, you must understand this as the United States murdering 1780 Cuban babies. Despite having one of the world's most advanced medical systems, and the highest doctors per capita compared to any other country (over 2.5x that of the United States) 10s of 1000s of people are unable to access medical treatment in Cuba because of the strangulation of the Cuban healthcare system. The defense of Cuba is a litmus test for socialists, you must condemn Imperialism, not the revolution, the blockade is an act of genocide
I love it when my mutuals scroll down my blog and spam like/rb from me but when I do it to them I feel like some sort of reblog pervert

i bring a sort of “you should maybe interrogate your so-called ‘preferences’ to make sure they’re not literal textbook examples of severe unconscious bias” vibe that my woke gay friends dont really like
what this post does NOT mean
go out and fuck someone you aren’t attracted to because a stranger on tumblr said to
go out and date someone you aren’t attracted to because a stranger on tumblr said to
You’re Not Allowed To Be Gay Anymore
what this post DOES mean
if you just ‘prefer’ to avoid majority black areas of your city
if you just ‘prefer’ to read, write, think, and talk about men
if you just ‘prefer’ to socialize with people you (perceive as) your assigned birth sex
if you just ‘prefer’ to exclusively watch white-directed movies, read white-written books, listen to white-authored music
if you just unconsciously perceive men as more authoritative/competent and ‘prefer’ to be spoken to by them
this is a post about acknowledging unconscious bias. it is not a post about dating. please stop coming into my inbox and accusing me of rape apologism and telling me to kill myself. thank you
"there is no way you're not using chatgpt for at least a few things here and there no matter your stance on it" what the FUCK are you talking about
A dark hand had let go its lifelong hold upon her heart. But she did not feel joy, as she had in the mountains. She put her head down in her arms and cried, and her cheeks were salt and wet. She cried for the waste of her years in bondage to a useless evil. She wept in pain, because she was free. What she had begun to learn was the weight of liberty. Freedom is a heavy load, a great and strange burden for the spirit to undertake. It is not easy. It is not a gift given, but a choice made, and the choice may be a hard one. The road goes upward toward the light; but the laden traveler may never reach the end of it.

"i know this show was made for children but i enjoy it too." > awesome and cool. watch whatever you want forever.
"i know it LOOKS like it was made for children but its SECRETLY for us. calling it a kids show is an insult cause kids could never understand these THEMES and EMOTIONS. we're the TRUE fans." > i dont think i trust your opinions. you seem lame as fuck.
i let them hit because they were honest about their intentions and created a healthy, open line of communication between us that made me feel safe and secure enough to let them see me in one of my most vulnerable states
unconvinced i'll ever find "the vitamin" that makes me all better so i can get real work done but i do expect they'll elucidate whatever my deal was post-mortem, after which what i did manage to accomplish with my life will be regarded on the level of Beethoven composing despite being deaf or Gordon Ramsay cooking despite being british
almost seven years deep into the 2020s this feels less like a retrospective evaluation and more like a prophetic vision
That’s not quite true. The reporter behind the story, Daphne Caruana Galizia, was murdered.
After mass protests, the Prime Minister of Iceland was forced to resign, along with many other members of the ruling party.
After mass protests, the President of Pakistan was forced to resign, along with many other members of the ruling party.
Worldwide, hundreds of people – many rich and powerful – were arrested.
Billions in stolen assets were returned to the people.
And 82 countries changed their laws to crack down on the wealth hoarding the papers revealed.
(Source here)
To say the Panama Papers accomplished nothing is an insult to Daphne Galizia’s memory. Her work, and the work of the hundreds of other journalists who contributed to the Papers, changed the world.
Disinformation like this is designed to discourage you, to make you feel you’re powerless against the monsters of the world. They want you to feel that way, because they are terrified of your power to make change.
Take your power back. Demand better. Keep fighting for a better world, because a better world is possible.
This is Daphne Caruana Galizia. She refused to be intimidated into stopping her work, even after being sued, arrested, and threatened. Journalists inspired by her founded The Daphne Project to carry on her legacy in investigative journalism.
Like the above user said, she DID make a difference and her bravery in exposing a global corruption scandal is incredibly important.
Her son, Paul Caruana Galizia, became a reporter after her assassination. He and Rachel Johnson were the first to break the story on Neil Gaiman.
He has a four part series about his mother’s murder.
An interview with the trans liberationist non-violent direct action group BASH BACK.
Governments in the Global North have continued their escalation of fascism and authoritarianism. The Labour Party and its allies have made unprecedented attacks on trans people’s basic rights and liberties. Trans murders and suicides are on the rise. And yet, the broader leftist response has been to write petitions, publish press releases, or organise peaceful marches with police permission. They continue to attempt to debate or reason with the fascists that are making our lives hell when they’re not busy outright assassinating us. As with all respectability politics, IT IS NOT WORKING. We have seen how the media establishment will move mountains to ignore trans voices while worshipping cisgender ‘experts’, how they will tout blatant misinformation like the Cass Review as infallible fact. They cannot be reasoned with, because their violent campaign against trans people does not stem from honest misunderstanding. It is a coordinated moral panic in order to distract from our government’s blatant corruption and the economic, social, and political crises they are responsible for. No matter how many marches we go on, no matter how many debates we engage in, no matter how politely we ask, they simply continue to ignore us, because these things do not pose a threat to them. BASH BACK is something that they cannot ignore. When 100,000+ people marched through London at last year’s Trans Pride — one of the biggest in history — barely any news outlets, or politicians, batted an eyelid. Just days later, we took action against Wes Streeting’s London office, and it was all over the mainstream press, forcing Streeting himself to come out of hiding to make a statement on it. Years of petitions, letters, protests and speeches have done nothing to sway the EHRC’s heinous guidance, to even register on their radar, but we took action, and now we’ve forced them to acknowledge us and to run into hiding. Reason has failed, and so will they.
[...]
Direct action is hard. We don’t want to make other trans people uncomfortable, we don’t want to make them scared, and we don’t want to do that to our community. We still get people saying “this is hurting our community, it’s making us more of a target”. We want to say: we don’t want to have to do this BUT there’s a reason why we must do the work we do. Unfortunately, all the other roads are blocked. It’s hard to get through, but we can get through. Direct action can be a way of getting through. The disappointing thing is we have, time and time again, people — whether they be activists, or journalists, or propagandists, or media personalitie — who are so determined to repeat this “love is love” line. So, if we think about marriage — that was successful right? But, more generally, the reason we’ve had so many pushbacks on queer and gay rights, and trans rights in particular, is because “love is ;ove” is not actually that useful. You can only appeal to people’s better nature if they have a better nature in the first place, and we recognise that people in government or in business, people with huge power within capital or the state, nationally and internationally, have zero interest in discussion. Why would we appeal to their conscience? It’s not enough. We’re at risk of a Reform government: there is no appealing to their conscience. As Kwame Ture said, there can a kind of political tactic that assumes that, “if you suffer, your opponent will see your suffering and will be moved to change his heart”. But in order for that work, he says, “your opponent has to have a conscience.” If there’s no conscience to appeal to, we have to fight.
