“Hella glad you aren’t. Corporate companies are a bitch to deal with, legally.” Lu gave a sigh of relief. “Now that, that’s a bit harder to explain.” Something told Lu that this girl wasn’t the mutant hating type, but in this day and age, she could never be too sure. “Would you accept the simple answer of I was born with the ability?” She doubted that explanation would cut it but it was wroth a shot.

Maya nodded, “Well they do like to take matters into their own hands, just look at the guy who used to run the place.”  She shook her head and took a step back, “How?” she asked both with confusion and trembling in her voice.

“Please,” Bo began with a light scoff, “this lift is all natural.” The amused smirk returned as the man lifted a hand to point an accusing finger at the semi-opaque display that hovered between them. “You know, you’re taking the whole ‘working in public on your laptop’ thing to a new level with this.” Not that he hadn’t seen the technology before, but it was perhaps a bit less common among folks that be working in public rather than an office. But, he didn’t know this girl, and her attitude was both off-putting and intriguing… somehow. And he knew it wasn’t his business, but for fuck’s sake, she had the thing literally right in front of his face, so he couldn’t help but watch what she was doing, the interest clear on his features.

Maya nodded in disbelief, letting the man say whatever he wanted with a shake of her head afterwards.  She scoffed at his notion of working on a laptop, “Really?  I can make it better,” she said taking hold of the makeshift tablet she put together from different parts into one better than the sum of it’s parts, breaking it apart and throwing the pieces around in the air, usnig her powers to activate them midair.  They hovered around her using the hover tech she ‘borrowed’ from Obscorp’s classified tech.  The parts displayed multiple screens around them, each showing blueprints and rough ideas for new and improving tech, “Better?”

Lu looked at the screen pointing to her as the source of the code used to hack into Obscorp’s systems. She was honestly surprised anyone was able to track her; Lu left hardly any trail when she got into a system. “Alright you got me.” She laughed. “So what? You don’t look like police, So now that you have your culprit, what are you gonna do with that info?”

Maya pulled down the screen to hide it back on her tablet, “Oh I could very well turn you in.  But then they would do a security overhaul and I would have to rewrite everything I did,” she said shaking her head with an annoyed sigh.  “I want to know how.  I barley caught your trace.”

“If not a little excessive,” Bo countered, his smile faltering into something between confusion and a frown. He’d just been trying to ask the girl if she knew if the L.L. Bean in Paramus or the one outside of Yonkers was closer to where they were–he had an itch that only a weekend in the woods could scratch, but he’d need some gear first. “Who pissed in your cornflakes, sweetheart?”

Maya shrugged, “If you want to look at it that way,” she said as her fingers swiped and typed in the air as she was barley paying attention to him.  She wasn’t really in the mood to give directions or have any sort of idle chit-chat, she was trying to track down the thing that attacked her.  “Well I think it was all your hair product messing with my head, dangerous fumes that hair is setting off.”

“I had a feeling, but figured if I went on talking long enough, you’d eventually address it,” Bo replied with a smirk, arms folded over the back of his chair as he watched the girl work at the table beside him.

“Or,” she said looking up as the display followed her gaze to block out part of his face, “I could address you by pouring my hot coffee into you lap.  That seems like a pretty good idea to me.”

“Yes, sure, ok,” she said to the person talking to her.  She wasn’t paying any attention to them as she worked on her tablet.  “You know I’m not listening, right?”

“I don’t have the slightest idea of what you’re talking about.”

Maya sighed and pulled up a holographic screen in front of the two of them, showing the code and program used to hack Obscorp.  And the a simple command to show the tracking system Maya designed pointing to the woman, “You sure about that?”

“Well I would like to know who was good enough to break through the primary firewalls where I work, but I suppose I found my answer.”

As Skye observed the other girl carefully and tried to read her body language–something that May had trained her to do–she noticed she was in pain of some sort and clearly incapable of attack. Skye wanted to reach out for her and make sure she is alright, but then she heard her tablet give out a loud, dying noise before smoke came out of it. She swore under her breath after assessing the damage and only looked at the girl again after she spoke. “The drop itself couldn’t have done this, the screen would’ve cracked first after the fall.” she responded, still flipping the tablet in her hands. Perhaps only her laptop could handle the kind of work she had been doing and she had overestimated the tablet’s abilities. “It’s fine, though, I have plenty more from where this came from and I have all my stuff on a back-up computer.” she mused. “Are you sure you’re okay, though? You look kinda…terrible. Are you hurt anywhere?”

Maya shrugged, “You sure?  If the motherboard was cracked when it hit, it could very well take a little while to fry.  I should know, I do work with tech,” she said still looking at the tablet knowing full well that there was no way to fix it after she had gotten her hands ...well mind on it.  “I’m fine,” she lied, her voice wavering.  She had a few cuts and scrapes from Ultron’s attack, but in one piece if anyone bothered to notice.  “I always look terrible,” she said deflecting her questions.  She reached out to gather her stuff, making sure to reattach her Obscorp badge to her white coat.  “You should really use a better interface if you’re gonna be walking and working.”

“Yes, sure, ok,” she said to the person talking to her.  She wasn’t paying any attention to them as she worked on her tablet.  “You know I’m not listening, right?”

Trying to work on her tablet while walking down the street wasn’t a very smart idea, Skye knew this, but she also knew she had to act fast in situations like this and every second mattered. She was completely in her zone and only looked up once or twice to make sure she didn’t walk into a wall, she counted on the rest of the people to watch where they were going. When someone bumped into her and knocked the tablet out of her hands, she knew it was her fault. Ready to apologize, Skye was instead met by a screaming girl who seemed out of her mind, to say the least. “Whoa, whoa,” Skye raised her hands as if she was surrendering and eyed the other girl carefully. “I’m sorry, I wasn’t looking where I’m going. Are you okay?” she asked slowly, like talking to a child, before picking up the tablet from the ground that thankfully had survived the fall.

Maya glared at the woman, wanting to lash out more at the clueless ditz.  And then she felt the tablet with her mind, a sharp noise came into her mind, the damage from Ultron still fresh and connecting to any tech tore it open more.  She grabbed her head and shook it, a low sob coming from her chest as her fist clinched.  She lashed out with her powers, the tablet giving out a loud noise and shorting out, smoke coming from the device.  “I’m fine,” she said in a shaky voice looking over at the fried tablet.  “Good job dropping that though, looks like it was expensive.”

Maya walker down the street, her mind still recovering from the attack. It felt fractured, like pieces were falling off her mind. Her concentration was gone, she had to work too hard to try and even operate the tech she made with her own hands, let alone the tech around her. She couldn’t stop looking over her shoulder, expecting the ai to show up again. It was nerve-racking to say the least, and when someone bumped her on the street, or she bumped them, she nearly lost it. “Get the fuck away!” She screamed pushing at the person she had run into.

“I’m fucking fine,” she snapped up at the man, reaching out to gather the hoverboard that she fell off of, trying to ignore the man offering his hand and help to her.

Hell’s Kitchen, NY {Clint + open}

Clint stared down the line of his arrow, doing all his checks to make sure the arrow hit it’s mark. And the arrow would hit it’s mark. It always did. Clint Barton did not miss. (Okay, mostly. Mostly Clint Barton did not miss. He was human, he faced monsters and magic and mutants, it wasn’t his fault.) 

He pulled the string back a little farther, his biceps barely straining against the familiar tug of Dyneema on his fingers, before letting go.

The arrow soared at just the right angle to take out the man in the distance. He fell inaudibly onto the dusty ground and Clint nodded to himself. Target Eliminated. No casualties. Mission Complete.

It still felt weird to him not to report back to SHIELD. His fingers twitched a little as he typed the code to Fury and hit send. He was officially done, now. Stuck in the middle of nowhere NY with $560 he’d stolen off one of the lackeys and nowhere to be for three days. Unless something happened. Not that he was wishing for a disaster or anything, but maybe someone to call him up and say “Hey, meet me in Vegas for the weekend! Let’s rent prostitutes and pretend we’re rich.” Something interesting. Something that didn’t involve killing anyone.

He stole a car (again from a lackey) and drove himself to the nearest bar. While he was stuck here, he figured he might as well find a way to pass the time. And a person to pass the time with. Or multiple! A few good drinks, a few good fucks, and maybe he’d even call the mission a success.

Maya was enjoying a cigarette outside the bar, watching the people go by, seeing if there was anyone interesting or worth her time.  Work had been boring as usual, listening to people far less talented tell her what to do.  Give her meaningless tasks that they just didn’t want to do.  Of course she would work on her own projects on the side, no one really paid close enough attention to notice she was doing things she shouldn’t.  Or beyond anything else the worthless ‘experts’ could do.  Her hoverboard was proof enough of that strapped across her back.  

She noticed a car pull up, she had recognized it as one of the local tough guy's cars, expecting to see the some bulked up idiot walk out, so very boring. She liked this bar too much to care if it was in the worst part of the city, she could defend herself for the most part. Her handmade taser was more than capable of dispatching the biggest asshole. She had learned the hard way to be armed. You wouldn't ever expect drug dealers to try something bad during a deal or anything, right?

But what stepped out of the car wasn't what she expected. Instead it was a fit, attractive man. He looked a little rugged, but he more than fit the bill for interesting. She flipped the bud of the cigarette away as she followed him in, sitting down next to him with a smile, "So you're buying my next drink." She didn't ask, she didn't say it flirty, it was like a fact.

Cheryl sighed, shaking her head. “Fine, I will.” She stated, walking away.

“Fine I will,” she said mocking the other girl, flicking the ashes off into a cup.  “Whiny little thing, aren’t you?”
