Dumbass baby squad on the skylight this morning!

They are kind of obsessed with the skylight, trying to climb up the slope and sliding back down. Also I think there’s some moss or tasty bugs growing along the bottom edge, they keep pecking at it.

They can fly a bit, though not for very far, and their tails are still all short and scruffy. Up close you can see they still have bright red baby mouths and slightly blueish eyes. Also their face feathers haven’t come all the way in yet, which gives them a sorta dorky profile, compared to the adults.

I thiiiiink the nest is somewhere on our roof. There’s been a couple of adult crows hanging around for months yelling at us, and now we know why! I think there’s at least three adults watching this nest, since the yelling ones are often a pair, which was what threw us off - we thought maybe they’d lost a nest, but it turns out the nest was doing just fine! It’s pretty common with crows for older siblings to stick around for a few years and help out with nests before they start their own.

Anyway I love them and I’m extremely proud of them. Even when they wake me up stupidly early by clattering onto the skylight directly over my head.
