I can’t help this awful energy Goddamn right, you should be scared of me
@heavenlypaper
It had happened again. He lost control and put all of them in danger. He put their *mission* in danger. No one was going to listen to a group that flew under the banner of peaceful resistance when one of its highest members was a killer. If this kept happening, someone higher up in command would find out. Then everything--everyone's dreams, all their striving--would be ruined. By him.
Nagato was still breathing fast and shallow when Konan came into the room. The last thing he wanted was to worry her. He wanted to tell her to leave, to go outside and make sure that everyone else was alright.
He wanted to say something reassuring, anything except the thought pressing into the back of his skull. But it came out anyway, a dry whisper so thin and shaky it could have been the wind.
“You should have let me die on the side of the road all those years ago.”
Konan walks up behind him, gently touching his shoulders to let him knows she's there. "Hey.." She calls softly. Whether he realizes or not, its his birthday, and she always made it a point to acknowledge it. Bunching the hair around his neck to the side, she plants her plush lips against his neck for tender kiss. "Happy birthday."
It had been several weeks since the incident, the moment they’d lost all sense of time and place–and for one brief moment of loneliness or insanity, got lost in each others hands and lips like two people starving to death. It still made his skin burn to think about, despite the fact that they’d nearly been caught by the worst possible person.
Perhaps because of that, Nagato hadn’t mentioned it again. And just like every year for a long time, he had forgotten his own birthday. In fact, he was so focused on monitoring the city that he didn’t fully register Konan’s presence until she touched his shoulders. Even then, he was not prepared to feel the soft press of her lips against his skin.
Nagato’s breath hitched immediately. He looked up, feeling his heartbeat quicken. Konan was standing so close behind that it took a second for him to comprehend what she’d actually said. When he did, he let his shoulders relax.
“Thank you,” Nagato murmured shakily, not quite sure how to proceed. “I… forgot.” A truly unnecessary addition.
Then he turned to look at her, letting his features soften as much as the unnerved fluttering in his stomach would allow. “You always say something. You’re always there, no matter what happens. Why…” Nagato stopped. Trying to keep his shaking under control, he carefully closed one of his hands around Konan’s own.
Their faces were inches apart now, and there was something deeply terrifying in acknowledging the unspoken. But it was a question that demanded an answer.
“You won’t let me disappear the way I’d like to.” Nagato rested his forehead against hers. He brought her hand up to his chest; to his heart, to the uneven breath in his lungs. He closed his eyes. “You won’t let me forget that I was born, that I live, that someday I will die. What is the point of that? All it does is make me wish for things I can’t have.” And it was then that pain crept into his words unintentionally--he hadn’t really meant to say that in the first place. He was giving the whole thing away. It was as good as admitting that she was one of those things, and that was a very, very dangerous thing to admit.

“Boo!”
Halloween Starters that I rebagled at some point (you know, like, at Halloween)
Jiraiya-sensei had... come from out of nowhere????
heavenlypaper:
This long lost inebriated feeling had the world blurring aroud her. Had footsteps come her way, she wouldn‘t notice. All that matter was right now. Not the guilt in her heart, a result of having still loved Yahiko, not the fear of all the hardships she endured, and certainly not worry of the masked man. It was such a freeing feeling.
The new spark ignited between them grew brighter and stronger each time their tongues met or they tugged at each others lips. God there was no denying that she loved him. Even with Yahiko housed withing that rusted old heart of hers, there was no denying how pleasant Nagato made her feel.
There was a thought of pulling away to nip at his neck, but she had given Nagato the lead, and she would go along with what he wished for. Konan submitted for him, just as she had time and time again. It was her nature to do so. There wasn’t ever a thought where she wouldn’t support or defy his wishes. Occasionally, she would express her concerns, but if Nagato had disagreed than so be it. He was the savior of this world and he had her undying loyalty, even within their new found romantic situation
Perhaps Konan should have controlled herself in this situation. Neither were being responsible with their desire for the other, and allowed themselves to be vulnerable. She didn’t hear the footsteps approach the door. It swung open and that’s when Konan had immediately come back to reality. She fiercely pulled away from Nagato, straightening herself out and attempting to quietly catch her breath. When she looked to see who had entered, it was Obito just as she expected the moment she came down from her high.
He entered the room. Konan sucks in a breath to speak, only to find herself staying quiet. It sucked to admit, but Konan was afraid. Afraid of what the masked man would do had he found out Nagato had a distraction. He couldn’t know. Not now, not ever.
Eye dart to Nagato, waiting on him to speak up.
Nagato took in a sharp, surprised breath when Konan suddenly pulled away. But then he looked up, and the warm, intoxicated feeling vanished as quickly as a fire doused in water.
They’d been too distracted to notice the masked man’s approach. Even if he was a slippery bastard—to lose focus like that—
“What,” Nagato said flatly, covering his surprise and fluster with steel.
The Uchiha paused. Though they couldn’t see his face, it was obvious the gears were turning behind the mask.
“Having a bit of fun on the job?” he said. Nagato didn’t miss the snide undertone.
“You are mistaken.” Nagato reset his posture and took on a bored tone. “We were talking about the past, and lost track of time. That is all. Keep your daydreams to yourself.”
He caught a glimpse of that perpetually eye burning under the mask as Obito looked to Konan, observing her with a piercing look. Nagato kept looking at the masked man, refusing to so much as twitch.
“If you say so.” It was clear he wasn’t convinced, but Obito took a scroll from a sleeve and held it out. “I have some information we need to discuss. But, if it’s a bad time...”
“No.”
The sooner the masked man delivered the information, the sooner he could leave.
100 Ways to Say ‘I Hate You’
I saw a post about 100 ways to say ‘I love you’, so I thought I’d make the anti-version if it doesn’t exist already. Roleplayers, send these to each other for angst reasons! Tw for emotional abuse, language, and some major rejection themes, though some them are joking and could be used for friendly rivals or pals who play-insult one another. Change or add pronouns as necessary.
“You’re a disappointment to me.”
“I don’t care if you live or die.”
“I used to care about you. Now? I regret every second I wasted.”
“How do you think I feel? I’m pissed off!”
“Go. Just go.”
“If you come back, I won’t be here.”
“I’ve never despised someone as much as I despise you.”
“Ha! You think I care about you? What do you think I am, desperate?”
“I regret ever saying ‘hello’.”
“Leave and don’t come back, ever.”
“Remember when we first met? I wish I didn’t.”
“You’re the worst mistake I’ve ever made.”
“Don’t touch me. Don’t even look at me.” “You took months/years of my life away. I’ll never get those back.”
“I saw a trash bag on the side of the road today. Reminded me of you.”
“I could have been doing so much better than wasting my time with you.”
“You’re a sick bastard, you know that?”
“I don’t care.”
“Go ahead, leave. Don’t worry about coming back.”
“You’re such a piece of shit.”
“I didn’t think you could be any more of a shithead, but you just proved me wrong.”
“You’re so stupid.”
“Why do I waste my time with you?”
“You’re not the person I thought you were.”
“Hey! Just a daily reminder: you’re a piece of shit!”
“I deserve so much better.”
“We’re not friends. We were never friends!”
“I pretended to like you because I felt bad for you! How did you fall for that?”
“I never want to see you again.”
“You’ve done nothing but make my life a living hell.”
“Don’t apologize - you don’t deserve my forgiveness!”
“No, I’m never giving you another chance!”
“I wish you were never born.”
“You’re the last person I wanted to see right now.”
“I’d rather be working with anyone else in the whole world right now.”
“When you get back, your shit’s gonna be on the front lawn. Take it and get out.”
“Go ahead, choose them! You deserve each other.”
“I don’t know what they see in you.”
“You’re an embarrassment to me.”
“You’re an embarrassment to all of us.”
“I wish it was you. I wish it was you to die instead of them.”
“God, why did I have to end up working with the biggest asshole in the world?”
“How could you think I ever loved you? You seriously think I’d sink that low?”
“Sorry, I just puked in my mouth a bit. I accidentally looked at your face.”
“How can you even live with yourself?”
“If I was your mirror, I’d break myself just so you would throw me in the trash and I wouldn’t have to look at you.”
“Being with you was the worst time of my life.”
“You’re a monster.”
“Not a day goes by that I don’t wake up wishing I was dead because of you.”
“I’m going to ruin your fucking life.”
“You said you would change, but you never did! You never will!”
“Some people are just born to fail. Sorry you’re one of the unlucky ones.”
“You’re so worthless, you hardly even exist to me.”
“I wish I could go back to the day I met you, and just walk away.”
“If you give me that look one more time, I’m skipping jump-rope with your large intestines.”
“Honestly, I’m embarrassed to even know you.”
“Ugh, it smells like something died in here. Oh. It’s just you.”
“You need to stop. You hurt everyone around you!”
“Until you get your shit together, I don’t want to hear you complain.”
“Look at you. You’re disgusting.”
“Stop making me look bad.”
“You have a face that makes me wish punching people wasn’t frowned upon in our society.”
“Shut your mouth. I don’t want to hear your obnoxious voice.”
“Go play in traffic.”
“Fuck off.”
“If I saw you in the ocean clinging to a log for safety, I’d save the log and let you drown. At least wood can become something useful, like toilet paper.”
“How could I ever love something as terrible and hideous as you?”
“I can’t even look at you right now.”
“It was all a lie.”
“I never loved you, and I never will.”
“Don’t try to beg. It won’t work.”
“You’re not worth the mud on the bottom of my shoes.”
“Look at you. You’re pathetic. I’ve never seen a sadder sight.”
“I’m going to hurt you slowly, and I’m going to enjoy every second of it.”
“For what you did to them, I’ll do the same to you.”
“An apology? You want to offer an apology? No. I don’t accept it.”
“You’re everything I hate in a person.”
“I wish you were dead.”
“You’re nothing to me. Less than nothing!”
“What a sad sack of shit you are.”
“My life is in fucking shambles thanks to you!”
“How could you? You bastard!”
“I’d rather eat sewage than ever touch you again.”
“Hey asshole, I’m here to ruin your day, just like I did yesterday and the day before that.”
“You’d be more useful if you weren’t even alive.”
“Hey, it’s my least favorite waste of space.”
“Every day that I woke up next to you, I was tempted to smother you with a pillow while you slept.”
“Love you? Don’t make me laugh.”
“Just thinking about you makes me sick to my stomach.”
“You deserve a slow and painful death for what you’ve done.”
“I can’t stand people like you.”
“Stop doing that thing. You know, that thing I hate. Breathing.”
“If I could trade you for a nest of angry wasps, you would be long gone.”
“I can’t wait to dance on your grave.”
“If we were the last two people on earth, I’d be subtracting one.”
“I never want to see the likes of your filth around here again.”
“I’m disgusted by you.”
“Fuck you!”
“If I ever see you again, it will be far too soon.”
“I have three words for you: Burn. In. Hell.”
“I hate you.”
Konan pushes back the tears brought on by her dream. To dream of something so blissful only to wake and be met with harsh reality that he's not here. After a moment Konan walks out of her quarters and into Nagatos, sitting beside him. Silence takes over for a while before Konan speaks up, not looking up at him. "Do..you miss him?" Its spoken ever so softly. Any louder and he might hear the sadness bubbling in the back of her throat.
Nagato didn’t stir when Konan came into his room. He only shifted toward her after she continued to sit there silently, no greeting, no reports. Nothing. Her shoulders bowed with weight or fatigue, or... what was it?
He opened his mouth slightly, but Konan spoke first.
The softly posed question made the words in his throat wither and die.
Nagato closed his eyes and turned his face away for several seconds, letting the cold feeling in his chest settle. He didn’t try to push it down. This was one side of pain he’d never be able to control.
“Everything I do is for him,” he said gently, quietly. “And for you, Konan. I can’t compare to him... I know that. My role is only to fulfill his dreams the best I can until we can be together again.”
He finally dared to look at her again, concern pulling his brows together. He didn’t know why she would ask this now, but it was clear that something was wrong.
He wasn’t sure why he did it, but before he knew it, Nagato carefully extended his hand enough to touch Konan very lightly on her shoulder. It was the most contact he’d had for at least a week.
“Stay,” he murmured. “Please stay. Until you feel better.”
Leans his head on Konan's shoulder tiredly.
They were both exhausted. She had just caught her breath when she plopped down near Nagato, sore and scratched up a little. The fight was won though, it didnt matter how beatup they were.
No words were needed. Thats what was so special about their relationship. They had such deep connection, they always knew how the other felt without even expressing it. There was an intimacy without words.
When he leans his head on her shoulder she cant help but lean on him too. Exhaustion consumed her, but she brings up a hand to gently comb her fingers through his hair.
“We did it.”
Nagato let out a silent sigh at the soothing contact. It was moments like this, when the shouts and explosions and terror finally stopped and they came out on the other side alive–it was times like this their dreams didn’t feel so out of reach. They made it. They won, and no one had to die for it.
Nagato allowed a sleepy smile to tug at his lips. “Aa. We did.”
He could so easily fall asleep here, nestled beside her to keep away the damp chill and listening to the rain. But part of him knew they had to move if they hoped to make it back to the village before dark.
“Everyone will worry if we’re late,” he murmured. He made no effort to pull away.

It’s just another downpour
nagato tried to start a serious political group but everyone thought it was a kink pride convention
Places a kiss upon his cheek ever so softly. "Happy birthday."
Nagato blinked and looked up at Konan, a faint pink tingeing his cheeks. “What do you mean, Konan? It’s not–”
He glanced across at the pull-off calendar they had hanging in the meeting room. The number was displayed prominently, and it was circled in big red marker. His face became redder.
“Oh.”
"Happy birthday, Nagato!"
“Thank you, Jiraiya-sensei. What is this?” Nagato lifted the gift box cautiously. He was happy that Jiraiya remembered after all this time, but he was a little uncertain of what to expect.
