why does everyone sound so self-important now
this is just a theory but it has got to be at least slightly related to the fact that one viral video can give you money fame and attention and self importance is the defining trait of most of the people who make those videos. unless the video is vine style. everyone thinks theyre the next influencer. and the people who dont feel that way have just always been self important
I think you're probably onto something w the whole personal brand bullshit but it's so annoying to listen to people describing experiences in such a bland way that they think is ripe with meaning. maybe I'm being too pessimistic but trying to find any podcast to listen to just sounds so slop.
as an avid podcast enjoyer, the trick to solve that is to listen to podcasts from experts themselves or journalists who will interview experts (i will also say that podcasts are one of the few things i engage with that have men on/making them; i think there's only one podcast i've found recently that is mainly womyn with the exception of one man being on it every couple episodes and that is "who shat on the floor of my wedding")
that being said, "reveal" is one of my favorite podcasts, it's an investigative journalism podcast (imo, some of their best work is the victim/suspect series about womyn who report sexual abuse and then get put under investigation themselves, their series on amazon warehouse working conditions, and an episode on the youth labor camps popularized by dr phil). i also really enjoy "main justice" which used to be called "prosecuting donald trump" and is hosted by two lawyers: a woman named mary mccord who was the acting assistant ag and a man who's obsessed with her intelligence whose name i don't remember. for more light-hearted stuff, i like "radio lab" (hosted by usually 2 people from a team of people so there's usually a woman on) and "decoder ring" (hosted by a woman). and my worst recommendation (because it's hosted by a man but i swear it's actually really good) is "99% invisible," which is about architecture and urban design
i also listen to "strict scrutiny," a podcast about the supreme court, that is hosted by 3 womyn, and they don't tend to have men on very often, but i have to listen to that with a grain of salt sometimes (their coverage of the SAVE act, for example, in my opinion, is subpar)
i know that's sort of off topic from the main point of the post, but "podcast" is my sleeper agent activation word
in every political movement no matter how radical or left leaning the women will always be relegated to collateral by the male members. no matter which marginalized identity they belong to or what civil rights they're advocating for, the female members will be the lowest priority if they're even acknowledged at all. misogyny will always be the thing that unites even the noblest and most committed of male activists, even the most destitute and disenfranchised men. they will never fight on behalf of women unless they benefit from it too.
Religion taught women to forgive endlessly, so men would never have to change.
the doj defending the kkk and the supreme court gutting the voting rights act all in the same week. hell world
Hungary finally got rid of its fucking corrupt government after 16 years. I have no idea about the video quality but there is a techno party in front of the parliament with fire show and I'm happy and drunk AF.
“In this country, lesbianism is a poverty - as is being brown, as is being a woman, as is being just plain poor. The danger lies in ranking the oppressions. The danger lies in failing to acknowledge the specificity of the oppression. The danger lies in attempting to deal with oppression purely from a theoretical base. Without an emotional, heartfelt grappling with the source of our own oppression, without naming the enemy within ourselves and outside of us, no authentic, non-hierarchal connection among oppressed groups can take place. When the going gets rough, will we abandon our so-called comrades in a flurry of racist, heterosexist, what-have-you panic? To whose camp, then, should the lesbian of color retreat? Her very presence violates the ranking and abstraction of oppression. Do we merely live hand to mouth?”
— Cherrie Moraga, “La Guera,” This Bridge Called My Back: Writings by Radical Women of Color (1983)
an adage used in the United States, particularly in the South, that is generally used when discussing rankings of U.S. states. Since the U.S. state of Mississippi commonly ranks at or near the bottom of such rankings, residents of other states also ranking near the bottom may say, “Thank God for Mississippi,” since the presence of that state in 50th place spares them the shame of being ranked last.
Examples include rankings of educational achievement, overall health, the poverty rate, life expectancy, or other objective criteria of the quality of life or government in the 50 states.
yes, correct. i'm from a state that i believe was 3rd worst in education after mississippi and arkansas, and we said this a LOT

“It is troubling to see that attitudes towards gender equality are not more positive," said Julia Gillard of King’s College London.
>Particularly among Gen Z, our data shows an interesting duality: they are both the group most likely to agree that women who have a successful career are more attractive to men but are simultaneously most likely to agree that a wife should always obey her husband and that a woman should never appear too self-sufficient or independent.
Incredibly stupid things are happening
I know these two things seem contradictory, but there’s nothing a conservative man loves more than to tear off an angel’s wings. There are plenty of women that would willingly choose the obedient SAHM lifestyle, but these kinds of men always seem to go for the opposite. Why? Because it’s a power play. There’s no need to break a horse that’s already broken, and that would do nothing to validate that man, his ego, and his place in a world he sees as designed for him.
I think masculine and feminine are consumer categories
look, i know we have to do it, but pulling womyn up out of the swamp of self hatred, internalized misogyny, and straight up gleeful propagation of the patriarchy is a tiring and absolutely thankless job. you can, maybe, 2 years later, get a text that you changed someone's life but only after they made you their primary op for a full calendar year (or if you're lucky, after they just cut you off), but most of the time it just involves entertaining the most braindead takes from the most illiterate people for months on end in the hopes that you can cut the harm off at the pass by helping them see themselves and other womyn as real people
i'll continue to do it, but damn it sucks
I think some Very Online people are ignoring the way Tim Walz has been trying to fight back against ICE as much as he feasibly can as governor of Minnesota and consistently sounding the alarm on just how bad things are because it’s direct proof that the Harris-Walz ticket would not have approved of ICE acting this way and this would not be happening if Harris and Walz had won. Remember, the skeleton key to understanding a significant chunk of discourse about American politics is that the moral frauds online aggressively lie about Democrats and downplay Republican evil so they could justify not voting, and then desperately try to save face and act like they hold no culpability when Republicans win and kill people. That's all it ever is.
